Anonymous, 11 Jul 2011Yes my bottom end cap is loose because I dropped it twice. ... moreSo, did it come loose immediately when it was dropped? or after time? I dropped it once but the bottom end looks in place and it doesn't move from it's place. So, if it looks good now it means nothing's wrong?

Yes my bottom end cap is loose because I dropped it twice. Not a manufacturing fault. Still have to be careful.

AnonD-2691, 11 Jul 2011when is the anna update coming man iam fed up??waiting all along@diba.
The Anna update will be available from the end of August for the N8. Anna will start to roll out for other Symbian ^3 devices before that but the N8 has to wait due to some extra features so the camera software can be updated.

Gio, 11 Jul 2011Can someone tell me what the people mean when they say the ... more@Gio.
When people say the bottom ( or top ) plastic end is coming off it's because they have most likely dropped the phone. The ends will not come loose on their own, but only through accidental damage. Sometimes it's because some people have attempted to remove the end caps by undoing the screws and haven't replaced the screws correctly.

Can someone tell me what the people mean when they say the bottom plastic on N8 is falling off?
Does this happen to a lot of them or just a few?
And is there a way to determine whether this will happen to mine?
This topic kind of got me worried...

Simply amazing.
However they must improve on the UI. Plus they should introduce an originally Nokia developed extension lens.

Bathala, 11 Jul 2011One of the crappiest phone, anyway nokia is a crappy phone ... more@Bathala.
There are some clear reasons why Nokia haven't adopted Android.
Android is still in its infancy as an OS and doesn't provide some of the features Nokia want to put on their phones, whereby Symbian does. Also, Android is susceptible to attack from malware. Symbian is not. There are no viruses that can infect a Symbian powered phone.
Android still needs quite a lot of development before it reaches the same level of functionality as Symbian, and Symbian is still evolving and won't be officially dropped until 2016. So until then, Symbian will still continue to receive updates.
All the best.

Nokia have factories in several countries, and each N8 is built to the same standard no matter where the phone is built.
It doesn't matter if the phone is made in China, as long as it is a genuine N8.
All the best.

I’ve had my Nokia N8 for 2 months now and am absolutely loving it. Of course this is my first smart phone which means most of the features I am
enjoying are available on other smart phones as well. But then again, here is a list of features the N8 has that are not even available on the iPhone 4.
1. HDMI TV out cable. Very handy for showing video/photos of son at family houses or watching DivX movies in hotel room HD TV.
2. USB on-the-go which allows the following devices to be plugged into the phone:- external USB hard drive, flash drive, USB keyboard or mouse. I did a power point presentation on our boardroom dataprojector (using HDMI output and usb mouse).
3. SD card slot
4. 12Mpixel camera (excellent quality) 12M is good for digital zoom.
5. FM transmitter (I use this quite a lot as my car radio does not have a MP3 player)
6. DVB-H headset for Mobile TV (not TV screaming). Cable purchased separately. (DVB-H Mobile TV can be viewed on an iPhone but you need a second chargeable device with WiFi (Tivit/Drifter).
I have installed so many cool apps (ovi store works well). One App I would recommend is Nokia Sleeping Screen (from betalabs.nokia.com). This is a permanent, attractive and very useful screen saver that still maintains the battery operating time. It really makes the phone stand out from the crowd.
The MP3 sound quality is excellent. Used supplied earphones which have an inline skip/pause button and volume control.
I haven’t had any problems so far and speed is fine. It seems only the first shipment of phones had problems.

One of the crappiest phone, anyway nokia is a crappy phone manufacturer. At this new age this should be investing more on android and change the OS of their phone. Symbian is long gone and if it does thrive how many support you can get??? Buy a WinMo and modd it or have it dual booted to run android or you can buy an android phone. Take my advise invest on something worthwhile not on this phone.
