AnonD-40, 10 May 2011You risk burn-in of static images on your AMOLED screen if ... moreRight now I have the brightness at 85% and the screen hides the purple tint and it will not get burned too. It is far from full brightness and there is no way the screen will be burned. Even at 75 or 80% of screen brightness still manages to hide the majority of the purple tint...
So, there is absolutely no risk to disable the light sensor, BECAUSE you don't have to put it on maximum level to hide out the tint.
Just adjust the brightness level 4 (80%) and it will hide the purple tint, + the screen will look a little more crisp...

geo, 10 May 2011hello guys can you give a suggestion what is the best phone... moreIf you want the best handset on the market today then it's the Galaxy S II. The reviews on the Galaxy S II gave it an excellent mark. It received 5 stars from techradar.com.
"The Samsung Galaxy S2 has not only set a new bar for smartphones in 2011; it's smashed the bar, recreated it in its own image and put it out of reach of the competition."

Nokia Expert, 09 May 2011@ Ray
Than answer this:
How come the users of Galaxy ... moreYou risk burn-in of static images on your AMOLED screen if you go on high brightness for extended periods of time.
You want something like this on your AMOLED screen just to hide the purple defect?
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1211/4731866441_f37348315f_b.jpg
Nokia should provide its NCCs with the properly calibrated replacement screens instead of risking your screen to even more trouble by throttling your brightness to high levels just to hide the defect.
As Ray said, installing third party apps that controls the brightness and used for the purpose of hiding the defect isn't an ideal solution. It won't fix the problem as it will only hide it and you're also opening yourself up to getting a burn-in problem.

Than answer this:
How come the users of Galaxy s, iPhone 4, C6-01, E7, Xperia X10 and many other phones have their screen brightness at maximum?
Because it looks better!Brighter screen always screams quality. Even if N8 didn't have any display issue I still would recomend to increase brightness, because N8 looks the worst in darkness compared to other phones... And you don't even need 100%... 90% brightness is perfectly enough to clear out the most of the purple tint...
It is Amoled for sake! and Amoled is known for its brightness and high contrasts. and you not gonna get high contrast when you screen brightness is at 50-60 %.

Fix Purple Tint, 09 May 2011Download the "Brightness Control" by Laternsoft... moreInstalling a third party app to disable the light sensor isn't an ideal solution. Having the screen service to full brightness all the time can significantly reduce the life span of the display.
Use the app with caution.
All the best.
