[deleted post] The default lock code is 12345. If you have changed it and forgotten it, then the only way to recover it ( officially ) is by going to a Nokia care center and have them recover it for you. They will charge you for this service though.

First goto Settings > Themes > Screensaver and select Big clock. Then lock the screen with the locking switch on the side of the phone. Now press the menu button and look at the clock on the screen. If the top half of the clock is purple the screen is defective. If not then the screen is fine.

shaf, 09 May 2011is it true that the death nokia n8 problem is fixed for new... moreWell, put it very simple , the only difference between N8 and X7 / C7 is : the N8 comes with 12M pixel camera ( Zeiss len ) that is unique in its own way . Otherwise in terms of firmware , although X7/C7 comes with Anna but soon all existing N8 will get an upgrade to Anna as well ( for free ) . As a N8 owner myself , have to say the camera / video is the best among all smart phones available today .

I'm not in my coutry, but the carrier is a local one.
To give you futher details, I'm in Switzerland and my sim card is a Yallo/Sunrise one.

If you are not in your own country the N8 needs to be configured to use 3G whilst abroad. To do this goto Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Data use when abroad set to either Automatic or Always ask. Be warned though that using a 3G connection when not in your home country ( Roaming ) will incur extra and expensive charges to your bill.

Hi guys, I'm facing some problems with my N8, although it might be my carriers fault!
There's certain services or apps that require internet connection that I can not use (I get the connection error message). I'm talking about a variety of apps like skype, opera, gmaps, ovi store, mail for exchange. However I can use this apps via wifi.
What's strange is that even though I can not use skype, I can use fring, and there's certain webpages that I can connect using the native browser (pages like my carrier's,or facebook but not everypage).
The point is that I'm not sure if it's a problem caused by a)the configuration of my phone, b) the installing of some beta apps like bubbles (already unistalled), or sleeping screen; or c) certain services/apps have been blocked by my carrier (I don't have a data plan).
I'm not in my country and all representatives of my carrier that I've met barely speak english, which makes any interaction with them rather frustrating.
So if you have some advice to give me I'd appreciate it!

i think best best ever fone.well nothing is perfect those who r saying it has some problems they should realise that now technologies r developing day by day.when camera was invented in phones it was only vga camera now 12 megapixel camera with hd recording is came after decade.wait until it we be further more organized.best fone ever in my point of view

I believe the purple tint issue is global, but the only way to find out is to ask at your local store to see an N8, and check the analogue screen saver. If the top half of the clock is purple, the screen is affected. If all the of the clock is silvery white then the display is fine.

I bought a N8 yesterday... and i am too regretful...
the 12megapixel camera of n8 is too bad and...and when you take a flash enabled photo the results are worst!!!!
the video player has some defects and...
N8 is the worst nokia products...
i have WAVE GTS8500 and i sell it to buy N8 but now i understand the benefits of WAVE...
WAVE8500 IS Very Very better than N8...
I ADVICE IF YOU DO NOT WANT REGRET LIKE ME...DO NOT BY N8...
