The N8 is a solidly built phone with HDMI out, USB on the go and a 12 Mega pixel camera with Xenon flash. It also comes with 16 GB of internal storage ( there is also a 32 GB version available ) plus an SD slot for a further 32 GB of storage.
However, it runs on Symbian OS which will be discontinued by the start of next year when the new Nokia / WP7 phones are released. Nokia have promised to continue support for Symbian for the next 18 months to 2 years. Symbian Anna ( formerly known as PR 2.0 ) will start rolling out over the next couple of months or so, and there are rumours of a PR 3.0 being released too by the end of the year.
The SGS is a decent enough Android phone and is very fast and responsive when updated to 2.2.1. The screen is nice and big at 4" and colour reproduction is crisp and vibrant.
There is the promise of Gingerbread being released for the SGS quite soon ( it was actually released at the end of April, but was pulled by Google on the same day ), but that will probably be the last update the SGS will get.
So, if you are looking for a solid phone with a brilliant camera and are not really bothered about " apps " then go for the N8.
If you want a phone with plenty of " apps " then the SGS is for you.

anna Sy... more Symbian Anna will be made available in the Summer, i.e, July / August. Any new N8's purchased now will not come with Anna pre-loaded. Only the X7 and the E6 will come with Anna.

I just recently bought a galaxy tab & its good for both business & pleasure but lack of some features that n8 has like multitasking & usb otg. Hope Nokia manufacture a 7 inch tablet that runs with symbian & can beat the galaxy tab or any other tablet.

My N8 came with defect..
The calls fall all the time..
It was supposedly repaired by Nokia twice..
The problem remains..

Hey...
open youtube downloader, thn search for a video ....thn select the video you want to download. Dnt click on the button "360p" or "720p" whatever. Just click on the play button of the video.
Default web browser will open and it will play the video - play the video for at least 2-3 second.
Thn minimize the default web browser and maximize your running "Youtube downloader".
Now click on the button "360p" or "720p" or "1020p"...ur wish which size u want to download.
Thn again default web browser will open and automatically ur download will start. Click ok to download. Dats it.
