What would be the point of having the best camera-phone ever and then taking out-of-focus pictures?!

All in all, always focus the camera properly.

The battery is covered by a TWO year limited warranty.
So, if it develops a fault, it can be replaced by Nokia.
There is no need for anybody to remove the battery in the N8.

Even though red eye reduction is active, you can still get red eye in your pictures. This is unavoidable when using flash photography. The problem affects all cameras, not just the N8, when using flash photography. The problem gets worse when using a bright flash such as the N8's Xenon flash.

nokia n8 camera is best suited for texts too
all you have to do is hold the camera in front of the book and click lightly on the camera button....
if the focus is a red square, the camera has not focused...try moving the camera slightly away and take a picture when the focus square is red

also you must ensure that your hand is steady while taking the shot...
i have taken pictures of numerous texts from books....it is really convenient
as a student i dont need to depend on xerox

To take close-up shots you need to activate Close up mode, as has already been said. To do this, whilst in the camera application, press the spanner icon then tap scene mode.
From the list, select close-up mode ( also known as Macro mode ). Now, when taking a picture, half press the camera button until there is a GREEN rectangle on the screen. This means the camera is now focused. Then fully press the button to take the shot. If the rectangle stays RED, it means the camera is not focused, either you are too close to the subject, or there is not enough light in the room. Try moving back from the subject until the rectangle turns GREEN.

                                      All the best.

I don't have an N8, but I do know that it's possible to take clear close-up shots with auto-focus cameras.

Maybe you are doing it wrong.

                                        1. set the camera at "Close-up".
                                        2. when you want to take the picture, half press the camera button and wait for the phone to focus. do not release the button.
                                        3. after it focused, press the button completely.
