those who r facing problem with purple screen issue should sell their n8 to get rid of this problem bcoz updates will not fix this issue and nokia is not taking serious action till now ..its been one month and no genuine solution has been seen from nokia to fix this issue .nokia is very irresponsible and lazy now a days ...as their is still second batch of n8 in market so those who r planning to buy handset its recommended not to buy just now and to wait till fresh batch of n8 hits market otherwise anyone can be victim of facing this problem.....people are enjoying their n8 those who have got 100% perfect device ..from past one month daily purple screen issues are increasing ,............

For those who just bought the N8 and are having very bad battery life... Fret not, for the poor battery life in the first few charges is completely normal! After a charge and drain cycle of about a week, the battery life of my N8 has improved drastically. At first it won't even last for a day, but now it lasts even longer! I wonder how long it would take for my N8 to last for 2 days, just as the other people say,...

Awful phone, I really regret buying it.
It looks nice, but its slow and just doesn't work properly. It has lots of small problems. Things don't work logically and other phones have driven the expectations of the smart-phones very high, N8 just can not comply with them.
The problems can be of course sorted out, but I don't have time to go through dozens of forums and learn how to "properly" use my phone in order for it to work normally. eg. I don't want to be deleting manually the hotspots from my phone in order for it to show me the call logs of past 30 days (it deletes them ever day despite I want it to keep them 30 days).
Big disappointment which have been fuelled by very high expectations!

Sadly my 2 month old N8 is in the workshop. Suffers from the "Would not switch on" problem. It seems there's no guaranteed fix, which suggests its a design flaw. That said apparently affects only 1st batch so if you buy, check first. Make sure its either manufactured in 2011. Sigh, lost faith in Nokia now. Either wait for a "repaired" phone that may die on me again in a few months, or dump the phone for a cheap second hand device. Sigh money down the drain.

The problems with the phone come if it's like made in China. In there they use abit cheaper parts. So the builtquality is not the same as made in Finland n series. The made in Finland models are the most reliable.

Rollindice, 28 Mar 2011Can someone tell me if typing with the nokia n8 is hard or ... moreText input is cumbersome on the N8. The keyboard is probably the worst aspect of the Symbian UI. It takes time to get accustomed to it. Thankfully, there's Swype keyboard. But it only works in landscape mode. There's portrait QWERTY coming but still looks awkward. But it's better than nothing.

Just because you love this phone doesn't mean you won't tell its cons. N8 is a good phone, but not the best. A great phone, but not perfect. Just like other phones it has its sets of pros and cons.

I bought nokia N8, black in color, a fortnight ago having urfortunately the same purple screen defect, rest was all o.k. Decent phone. Now i updated the released update PR1.2 through OTA and to be honest,purple tint issue in the video player has been fixed noticeabily, though not completely and i hope that nokia will fix the rest in its upcoming updates.
