AT&T and T-Mobile employees look so confused when they see my n8. Yes, phones exist outside the AT&T world! LOL They always want to hold it and look at it.

The question I get is "where did you get this" and "how much did it cost".

I'm talking about in the USA. Not too many Nokias running around here in the USA, imo...

    Dont do this again......
    N8 is the best.....

If anybody needs more than N8,
then he should purchase a laptop
for a price greater than N8......
What N8 provides is more than sufficient......

always remember we r talking about mobile

When my N8 arrived, I immediately did the test searching for the purple red amoled defect, but the clock was always grey, no purple/red colors here. But after installing some apps and updating the software I saw a little Red/purple on the clock for the first time.
Now, after uninstalling Nokia Bubbles with Nokia procedure (qtdowngrade), my clock is Grey again (don't know if I uninstalled other apps too).

Note: software 011.012 and still on PR1.0 :(

N8 is a REAL PIECE OF HARDWARE! Great Phone!

I got my first smartphone the nokia n8. I'm impressed with the camera and the features. There is one thing missing and that are boardgames like the ones they have on the android OS.

And there are a lot. http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/27829/iphone-board-games

            Hey Guys,

I just wanted to share my experience with the Nokia n8 for those who really in a confusion whether or not to go for it. Since, I am posting this comment in GSMarena the place that any mobile user treat a DESTINATION of great mobile reviews you can consider my post as well. Well, N8 is not a competitor for ios or android. But its the best of its own kind. I consider myself and admit it as a mobile super user because I am experienced with multi platform mobile gadgets at least for 10 years now. N8 is the only less buggy smartphone. I have no regrets on any of its features after I received the update. Performance, Sustainability,Design,Life and much more comes by default with this phone. I dropped my phone three times on a hard surface and trust me it works great. I make most of this phone by using almost all the applications everyday. I can even read regional news papers. I can book my shows, check in restaurants, travel to any locations in the city and much more.. also want to tell you that this is the only theme-able smartphone. Camera is a highlight. I suggest go for N8 and you will never regret it.

            Thanks for reading.

              Hey all,

I would like to kindly pass a message to everyone who are in confusion whether N8 lives up to the expectations. In my personal opinion, N8 is not a competitor to ios or android. But its the best of its own kind. Most of the Apps that you find and install on an ios or android are not really designed for India. Nokia is the only specialized manufacturer who do phones for indians. Remember we never regretted 1100. I was also using other than Symbian platform mobile phones which offered me a great application capabilities. But to be honest, Email was the only application other than alarm and Internet I used everyday. But this is not the case with N8. with its outstanding maps feature I can even book my movie shows, restaurants. air tickets and many... So, Its not all about the phone but its the usage. If you start comparing this with any phone you are probably wasting the time. I would suggest go for N8 and you will never regret. This phone has a lot more features and you will be surprised.

              Thanks for reading.

Fruit Ninja is now available at Nokia’s Ovi Store for the Nokia N8 and Nokia C7. This game is very popular on the Apple iPhone and iPad. It’s an addictive action game where you try to slice fruits before they fall down the screen.

go but it in the ovi store for 99 cents

Trouble playing AVI video on the N8? Here's a solution...

The N8 is an awesome multimedia machine. You can throw almost anything at the video player and it will play without complaints. However, I have noticed that sometimes the N8 refuses to play some of my AVI format files. Before I tell you how I solve this problem, let’s go over the difference between a codec and a format.

Codec: A codec is the algorithm used to compress/decompress audio and video streams. Some of the more popular codecs are H.264, DivX(actually a quasi-codec), and MPEG-4. The reason we compress data is to make the data file smaller and also less resource intensive for real time playback. The quality of what you see and hear is almost entirely dictated by the quality and rate of the compression scheme.

Format: A format (also known as a container or wrapper) determines the way the codec is stored and delivered. The container is important because it creates a standard in which to encapsulate the different compressed audio and video streams and ensures for example that they are played with correct timing. That said, there are many different containers such as MP4, AVI, and MOV. It’s important to note that a given codec can be wrapped into a multitude of containers. For example, the MPEG-4 codec can be contained by both AVI and MP4 wrappers.

Ok, so let's get back to the N8. The N8 is officially specified as supporting MP3/WMA/WAV/eAAC+ audio codecs and DivX/XviD/MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV video codecs. This is actually a bit confusing because some of these are more often recognized as containers as opposed to codecs. The reason for this dual usage is because some codecs actually have containers named after themselves.

Alright, this is getting really twisted but here's the bottom line. The N8 seems to be more robust at playing MP4 formats as opposed to AVI formats. I say this because 90% of my MP4 movies play on the N8 while only about 60% of my AVI movies seem to work. My solution to this is to convert my AVI files to MP4 by using a free program called appropriately enough 'Convert AVI to MP4'. The program is fast and simple to the point of being idiot proof. There aren't any settings or anything to mess with. You simply click a button to open the AVI file to be converted and that's it.

The program can be downloaded for free at

                            http:// www.convert avi to mp4.com/

                            (combine it)

I've been using it for a few months now with no problems.
