Nokia N8 Wi-Fi Turning Off Problem.

I have just bought my Nokia N8 and I have faced some problems while using it but fortunately I’ve solved them all, one of those problems is the WLAN Connectivity is always active and it consumes the battery charge so I have done some steps that solved this problem those steps are as follow:

This Problem May Be Due To Several Reasons:

1.You are turning ON your “Show WLAN availability”and “scanning for networks” Automatically, which makes you Nokia N8 searches frequently for WLAN and Connect automatically to the Available one.

        Solution:

        Go to:

Menu > Settings > Connectivity > WLAN > press Options > Settings > Show WLAN availability > Never.

2.You May Need To Adjust Some Connectivity Settings:

        Solution:

        Go To:

        Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings.

        And Adjust The Following:

        Switch to WLAN > Manual

Data use in home network > Always ask.

Data use when roaming > Always ask.

3.Your are having Applications on your Nokia N8 which require WLAN Connectivity:

Note: You Do Not Have To Remove Those Applications, You Will Only Disable Them From Connecting to WLAN Automatically.

        Solution:

        Go To:

Menu > Settings > Application manager > Installed apps.

Press on EVERY Application and HOLD > Choose “Suite settings” (If Available) > Network Connection > Ask when needed.

4.The Widgets On Your Nokia N8 Home Screen Require Connectivity:

        Go To:

Your Home Screen > press Options > Widgets to offline mode.

Then Restart Your Nokia N8 Mobile Phone.

5.If you are Using Mail feature on your Nokia N8:

        Solution:

        Go To:

Menu > Applications > Mail (You Might Have Moved It) > Settings > Press on your Email > Synchronisation > Retrieval frequency > Choose any thing except Soonest.

Note:Do The Same Steps For Every Email You Have.

Note:If you chose Soonest your Nokia N8 will need to stay connected all time to get your Mail Updates as soon as possible, which will require that your WLAN to be always connected.

6.Go to every Application you have and try to change its way of connection,so that it would not connect automatically to WLAN.

I Hope Those Steps Have Solved Your Problem as It Solved Mine.

think bout buying this fone if into camera.. daytime excellent camera fone but during night shots, i think it's horrible.. do not expect too much from a 12 MP camera of this fone especially night shots.. figures can mislead u.. it may disappoint you.. but performance wise, its great..

I was looking for a new handset (my old set N82). after reading many reviews i almost gave up my mind to buy N8 but somehow i ended up buying N8 last week. Now i have been using N8 for last seven days and boy i am impressed. It is a wonderful phone.

It did have problems of restarting by itself on first day but after i updated the device software it works perfectly.

Sound clarity, connectivity, camera, GPS are work excellent.

And believe me Symbian^3 is good. Agreed that it may not be all candy like apple or android but who needs candy or beautiful icons.

My wife and son were fans of sony ericcson (android) but thay both are now jealous of my N8 to the extent that they now want to sell their phones and go for N8.

I love my N8. Nokia Rules.

and my advise to all who are in doubt about N8, dont believe the reviews blindly, check for yourself and dont miss out on this phone. It is a great phone.

Some of the features like FM transmitter and Camera are great and once you get addicted. N8 UI will improve and compete with rivals over aperiod of time. Nokia durability and quality is awasome.

im excited and almost cant wait to know what the recently NokiaSoft partnership and nokia's other announcements recently would translate in the coming months and years:

                                  1) whether symbian will ultimately be abandoned bcoz nobody cares about it anymore or;

                                  2) symbian will still have a big smartphone market share bcoz majority in the world keeps on buying symbian phones.

im really concerned about symbian's and meego's future. IMPO, symbian's utilitarian ways and raw power (in terms of OS functionality) are way more advanced than any other smartphone OS, AFAIK. for me, current symbian UI does the job but it "does" the job without fancy animations and really lacks great UX. it direly needs the overhauled UI shown from a press event in China by Jo Harlow recently quickly.

if only "execution" = memory (just like in computers), i will buy the best one available and install it to "Nokia" without thinking twice.

after reading and digesting tremendous comments, sentiments, and analyses, i've realized that Elop might be doing these also for the guys over at Espoo to make them more competitive to invite "innovation" and drive passion among them. in other words, maybe Elop's proposal to join WP and its ecosystem to the BODs plainly means giving fellas in their main head quarters competition to alert them - "wake up from your aging and fungal laurels", "we know you've done many improvements and optimization on symbian OS, but why the UI and UX are almost the same and seemed unable to mingle with fast paced mobile industry, especially with touch phones?!") , now, feb 11, 2011 is a big history. i think elop and any BOD with him have chosen the best option for nokia in the interim.

my last paragraph could only also mean that im not ready to let go of symbian =( do i really need to shake hands with the green fella?! from a pure symbian loyalist and fan, i feel that android will be the best logical move for me, accounting flexibility and out of the box functionality of my favorite OS.

as the saying goes, three heads are better than one. though headlines and official news from nokia states long term alliance with microsoft, i simply don't buy it. i see the big picture as - its like opening 3 quick service restaurants from 3 different franchisors. Normally, from a franchisee's perspective, after a period of operation, the franchisee is most likely to maintain the one with the fastest ROI, biggest sales, least expensive to maintain or in other words most profitable model. if the franchisee has enough funds and the two other restos are fairly doing good, he/she could maintain 3 at the same time. i wonder where symbian falls in the next months and years... i hope nokia have enough funds!

nevertheless, i wish nokia the best and i hope they do succeed getting a big chunk in US! engadget will surely love you even more by then.

                                  long live symbian! (and qT)

                                  PS:
