Sorry. Rephrase. How do you stop the vibration when using the lock/unlock slider and still keep the vibration for calls active?

[deleted post]who said wave has a better camcorder. 720p@25 fps on nokia n8 and 720p@30 fps on wave. Basically anything above 20fps will be equally smooth to human eye. I would have considered wave better if it had a 60fps or 120 fps option as it would have allowed slow motion video capture. But dont forget n8 has a bigger sensor. Video is more sharper with better low light performance and smart digital zoom

                  about nokia messaging problem
all those who are having any kind of problem please try this.
                  1. delete all email accounts from mobile and restart phone.
                  2. Visit nokia messaging website email.nokia.*om from pc and sign in using your email and its password After login you can add more email ids but the first email id with which you signed will be your nokia messaging username and its password will be your password.
                  3. On n8 create a new account with email id same as the nokia messaging username (the first email you configured) and password.
                  4. This will automatically retrieve all email inboxes which you have configured in nokia messaging account with push enabled.

For Gmail nokia messaging is faster than on android. Yahoo and hotmail have a very minor delay < 1min. Some service such as rediff cant provide push email without a paid upgrade

Are you having problems with push
email on the Nokia N8 ? Well, you’re not alone, that’s for sure. Lately we’ve been seeing a lot of activity about
various aspects of the push email
                      service offered by Nokia messaging
                      on the Nokia N8.

Nokia Messaging is a great service by
design. It works with your regular
email provider – be it Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, Ovi Mail or any other of
                      the numerous supported providers
and delivers all your emails instantly as
they arrive. With push email the handset doesn’t need to connect at regular intervals to
check if new mail has arrived, instead
the Nokia servers push any new
emails to your phone thus ensuring
emails get to you right away.

Here are the most common problems
                      users have been experiencing:
                      Push delay
Push not working at all Deletions not getting synced with Ovi Mail Hotmail push email not working some times

If you have a problem with push email
on your Nokia N8, you should make
sure you’re not using a WAP access points for your mobile internet
connection. If your issues are Hotmail
related, make sure you ’re not using some sort of a Messenger app with the
online status set to Online (as opposed
to Away, Be right back or Offline). Yep,
I know, it ’s weird, but it helps if you’re not in Online mode.

Many users have had success in
getting their emails fine and dandy by
                      bypassing Nokia Messaging and its
                      servers altogether (by declining the
Terms of Service) and setting the email
client to use plain old IMAP with a short sync interval. This way,
notifications won’t be received instantly, but at least they do come.

                      Yahoo accounts (which use POP
instead of IMAP) seem to be working
                      fine with Nokia Messaging.

Another suggested fix (for Gmail, at
least) is to use setup a Mail for Exchange account. Google calls it Google Sync since using it allows you
to sync your phone with Google
Calendar and Google Contacts as well
                      – much like Android phones by default – but it’s Mail for Exchange nonetheless. Setup is a breeze and the
                      only additional option you should
                      enter besides your email, username
and password is the Google server
                      (m.google.com).

The N8 is a powerful combination of internet, video, photos and music with Symbian^3 platform. Sports a 3.5″ OLED capacitive touch screen supporting pinch to zoom on browser, photos and email.
The screen resolution reads as 360 x 640 with a 24bit colour depth. Inorder to create a robust, one-piece device that feels good in the hand, the BL-4D 3.7V 1200mAh battery has been integrated to the device, which cannot be replaced by the user.
The casing is made out of Anodized aluminium. The N8 will come in three colours in the begining - silver white, dark grey and green. The device is up to 80 % recyclable and Free of PVC, nickel free on the product surface. Combination of 3D graphics hardware accelerator along with the main ARM-11 single processor with a clock rate of 680MHz is great way to speed up things. The N8’ s user memory is 145MB and has 256MB RAM. And it also has a 512MB NAND memory along with a built-in 16GB mass memory. Externally you can go up to 32GB with hot swapable MicroSD card.
You can virtually use the handset anywhere in the world, on any network. Supported frequency bands are: GSM 1800/1900/850/900; WCDMA Band I (2100)/Band II (1900)/Band IV (1700/2100)/Band V (850)/Band VIII (900).
What I am mainly interested in is it ’ s 12 megapixel camera with 28mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens and Xenon flash. It also has Face recognition software, fullscreen 16:9 viewfinder with easy-to-use touchscreen parameters, the camera resolution is 4000 x 3000. Secondary camera for video calls (VGA, 640 x 480 pixels). You can shoot 16:9 videos in HD quality. Video will be capture in 720p 25 fps with codecs H.264, MPEG-4 formats. There is no camera cover, but the materials are highly scratch resistant.
Nokia N8 will also have on demand Web TV, HDMI connectivity and USB OTG - where you can connect your USB memory sticks or a portable hard drives to your N8 and transfer files without a PC.
