Anonymous, 20 Oct 2013Maybe opera mobile store can rescue the abandoned symbian d... moreI wouldn't count on Opera Mobile Store. The apps on it are already outdated, for example there's one browser that doesn't even exist any more with the same name. Opera is hugely popular on all platforms and Symbian is too small for them. They haven't even updated Mini or Mobile ever since I got my N8.

There is something like an app store on AllAboutSymbian but it's still "under construction" - who knows, maybe it can turn into something some day.

As for Delight, I won't try anything while my phone still works normally, maybe if I had one more N8. You can see the changelog on their website or here: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/flow/item/17267_Turning_the_Nokia_N8_into_Deli.php it does sound interesting, but nothing that would make me go for it and then re-install all my apps and set all the settings again. Too much work, too little time. :-(

Maybe opera mobile store can rescue the abandoned symbian devs. Maybe the symbian community will have the equivalent of Neo900 team, a group trying to transplant Maemo OS to a slightly better hardware. Because the N900's hardware will all die sooner or later. And some have defective USB port.

its exact 3 years for release of N8, October 2010 to October 2013, & still daily interest 37%. Proud to be the owner of this benchmark cell. & wanna ask, What is the change log in new delight custom firmware ?? Just now, my N8 is running on symbian belle refresh. So if i install delight firmware, What differences will i observe in my cell ?? Or its just for freeing up the phone memory ??

37% daily interest? What is happening??? Did all other brands die too? :-D
This is why I love Symbian. When everything around and inside Nokia was falling apart they introduced the 808 anyway, shocked the world and laughed in the face of death. Now it's all gone and the old warrior N8 is laughing again before going to Valhalla.

For this kinda price, it's really hard to beat. Great build quality, long battery life with newer BV-4D (808 Pure View/N9 battery spec), free navigation world-wide, FM transmitter, 12MP Carl Zeiss camera w/Xenon flash,Pentaband. What a steal! Now gonna flash with new Delight custom firmware. This frees up more C drive space...OS is very stable with this CFW.

                  > All apps must ask us in which memory should the app be installed

                  > It must provide option to create sub folders in the messaging area (like in the my folders area in the Symbian o/s)

                  > It must provide EXIT option for all the apps.

Anonymous, 18 Oct 2013Cheer up, be happy, Symbian grave is diffrent from the rest... moreHaha. Well said. As the song goes "dead but dreaming" might be more appropriate? Or was that Cthulhu? :-) I know, through the years I've become a member/visitor of Mobilescommunity, Mobilephonetalk, IPMart, Zedge, Disqus, DailyMobile, DotSIS, AllNokia, N8FanClub, Symbianzone, AllAboutSymbian, and probably a few others. Oh, and GSMArena too. Almost forgot. :-) Right now my N8 is perfect, got all the apps I need where I want them to be, edited a few themes to cover all the icons, I know almost all of it inside out (except the darker corners) and I'm just updating apps if there's something new. Not much to do except upload something on Zedge here and there. I do hope the community will continue where Nokia quit, and there might even be a legal alternative Store some day on a certain website. Anyway, I could use it like this for years to come, with Nokia dead or not. The way it's going it could live longer than I will. :-)

As if its one of the specification. I used it for 3months and i regret. Here I live, Android browsing cost more than any other OS. Especially when you download App. It sucks!

Inside the Symbian grave there are alot of Hacking and Moding, Customization, Theme Effects, and Custom Firmware activities.

There are many communities, Sites, and blogs with 3rd party/hacked apps visiting Symbian grave daily.

Ha..Ha.. I'm sure a strong WIFI connection is available all year inside the Symbian grave..

Maybe the dead Symbian might want to resurrect someday. Or perhaps it's utmost spirit will reincarnate somewhere (take a look at iOS7 UI).

We can still enjoy our Symbian phones as long as we want to (until someday we find something that best suit our needs). In the mean time, Symbian is still kicking and alive inside it's grave. What a grave..!
