The philippine used market is flooded with nokia phones. My pocket, sadly, isn't flooded with money. Nokia 515 is still nowhere to be found and we just had a three day power interruption. Too bad that case with a built-in battery is no longer for sale.
I don't think I'd have problems with used nokias for a while. Everybody is crazy for iphones (which treats me like a stupid person) and androids (data miners).

Anna, 13 Oct 2013You know who you have to look out for, Huawei. It may take ... moreMost of Chinese companies are like that. I've read a few Alcatel reviews (they are China-owned now) and they are pretty decent for the price, and the cameras are apparently above average. But I'd rather see GSMArena test one. Huawei are big in Asia I think, as well as ZTE (hey, I have a ZTE DSL modem and it works without any problems) so very shortly it might be hard for Samsung and others to explain why their prices are so much higher.
I'm never sure about estimating whether the flash will fire or not... Sometimes I deliberately turn it off before shooting, just in case. Today I was taking photos of my sister's dog (who is never still) in the evening and I thought the flash would fire, but apparently it was bright enough. I assumed I'll get blurry photos but the exposure was 1/100 sec and I can see hairs and whiskers alright. Go figure. :-) On CameraPro I keep the flash off by default, mostly use it at night. Last night I saw street light behind a tree throwing light/dark beams around through the fog. The photos were okay, hands were steady enough. :-)
@Carol, that's just humans... They don't realize how good something is until it's dead. And that "new" isn't always "better". Heh, my mother said that my music will become popular after I die. Can't wait to see it. :-D
@hareesh - good luck! I'm a bit furious at eBay today because I finally decided to get a tire tread "off road" case for my N8 but it's no longer available, and 1000 other cases aren't much more appealing than what I have now. Maybe they'll start selling them again some day...

Aadrian, 14 Oct 2013The 808 costs about 380 euro in official shops here in the ... moreAh, sorry, i forgot to mention that i'm talking about online shops or sellers:)). In Germany,(at least where i leave) 808 was 299 euros in media-markt at one point. In that time you could see it even cheaper on ebay. Now, there are no Symbian anywhere to bee seen, at least in my town, but only in internet. And there, the price is quite spicy...

Carol, 13 Oct 2013If nobody have seen it till now, i'll tell you. The retaile... moreThe 808 costs about 380 euro in official shops here in the Netherlands. So much money, but here the phone never was any cheaper. The N8 is nowhere to be found anymore. That's why I bought my N8 in Germany. When it was still quite cheap. I should consider myself lucky I guess.

MdN, 12 Oct 2013I'm looking because there's nothing else to look at. :-) I ... moreYou know who you have to look out for, Huawei. It may take them a little while, but those guys are not sleeping on the job. It would be interesting to see what they come up with, and sure as night follows day, they are going to come up, I think.
Meanwhile, N8 rocks. Oh! I just took out some photos of my vicious little Pionus bathing in her small water bowl that she can't even get into. She/he? always pretends bathing when it rains. Too cute and funny! I consciously tried to keep my hand steady :-) so the photos weren't too bad. I don't know why the flash came on though because I am sure there was enough light. I may as well practice a little :-).

If nobody have seen it till now, i'll tell you. The retailers of symbian smartphones have raised the prices pretty well. The moneysuckers has stuffed almost one hundred euro into the price. In Germany, to find a new one under 200 euros was quite easy, cause that was the market price, now you need to dig up quite a bit to find such a thin. 808 get the same treatement. Before you could find it at 280 euros, lowest price. Now i couldn't find it below 340. This as8*oles are getting on my nerves...

Anna, 11 Oct 2013Oh! So since when you are looking at Android phones, huh???... moreI'm looking because there's nothing else to look at. :-) I already have a feature phone so no need to look at those. From what I've heard about WP I can skip that too (Like, if I want to open an eBook I have to upload it to SkyDrive first... Microsoft and NSA can get their own copy of The Hobbit!) and I can stand the iPhone for 10 minutes before I put it down and never look back. Still I can't see myself going Android just yet when my N8 does all I need. It's just "lesser evil" really, nice to know there's some sort of an option "just in case" though I still hope it wouldn't come to that. I normally use phones until they are beyond repair or someone gives me a better (less old) one as present, haha. The only phone I bought since 2001 was the N8 because I wanted it, was able to get it, and I only live once. :-) Still kind of wishing I could get one more as a spare, maybe in another color, but maybe I can just relax and use it as long as it works, knowing there will be some sort of a possible replacement out there (with many features missing but usable anyway). Tough one.
Ah, backpacks, no thanks. I like my ringtone to be just audible enough, and I can feel the vibration too, but if the phone was in a backpack it would have to be louder and taking a loud ringing phone out would make me feel like, well, those people with loud phones. Which annoy me.
I'm almost always looking around for scenes to capture, just a habit I guess. There's not that much happening where I live so if I see something interesting, or an interesting scene, I'll take a photo to save a memory. Actually ever since I got my dog 8 years ago, and we're outside/outdoors a lot, I think I've seen two people taking a photo with a phone (but just to show something to someone), one person carrying a DSLR camera once after he bought it, one person took a normal camera once to take some photos, and one person with a videocamera once, and that's it. Meanwhile my 100NOKIA folder got a brother called 101NOKIA in just 6 months. :-)
Taking photos does take practice, sometimes I'll just snap around to see what I get and delete it. Birds are really a problem, there's a crow dropping walnuts on the playground to break them but I wasn't able to take a photo yet. Ducks in the river are too far, and I've taken enough photos of swans (hissing at my dog and threatening to attack) by now. Today the swans were sort of framed by the autumn colors above and below and the photo looks nice, however they were so far you can see they're swans, but not much more. Need an 808 for more detail, I guess. :-) But if there's more birds you can get away with them being small.
