thanks for te comments below about the se s700i, I too was a s700 owner and wanted the n80 but after it wasnt released on contract in pearl black I have been waiting for the se w850i instead!
Does the n80 allow screensavers and the possiblity to change the themes like on a s700i, I dont just mean the wallpaper and menu screen, I d like to change other screens like filemanager etc

Ive had it for about 2 weesks now.
Battery life is shit but to all of you who spent hundreds of dollars on the phone quit your bitchy whinning; you can buy batteries for it on ebay for like $4 a pop or a battery and desk charger for like $15 shipped. Not OEM but they do the trick. I know.. i have 6 of them. 2 in my car 1 in each jacket and 1 in my wallet (no joke).
Im coming off of a 2.5 year stint with a SE S700. Hands down the best phone i have ever owned. The N80 does alot of stuff better than the s700 but some of the features that come on a 2.5 year old phone STILL are not included on phones from what is debatebly the best phone manufacturer in the world (recording calls, voice recorder > 1 minute, easier to navigate file manager). COME ON Nokia.
I was going to go with SE W810i but the N80 features list blew me away however the initial coolness factor wears off.
Waiting for W850 to see if the screen lives up to my expectations.

** Verify first hand when you see software and/or material defect testimonial posted here (or other websites, regardless which phone maker it's directed to). Please be aware that cell phone marketers hires people whose job is to criticize competitor product on various veneus.

anyone know if nokia will provide firmware upgrade for current n80 user to upgrade to n80 internet edition ?

Just bought the N80 here in South Africa today. Excellent phone and no bugs including the 'SMS Freeze' or whatever its called; It's quite responsive and everything seems to be as advertised. Apparantly, our (my) service provider spent a couple of weeks evaluating the phone prior to public release. Maybe that's a value added service unique to SA... Sorry guys & gals!

If anyone is interested in buying leather case, i found two that i think goes best with n80:)

I still can't decide which one to buy.
The first one is more stylish and has a better leather quality and furthermore, you can customize it.
The second one is, in my opinion, easier to use and is more economical.
Post your opinions for these two cases.

N80 FAULTS
I have had to replace my first N80 with a new N80 from Nokia for the reasons below. Now the replacement phone needs to be replaced as well. I have had so much trouble with it, it just wont work properly. I am thinking to upgrade firmware at a Nokia Service Centre but if I do it will void the replacement warranty. I am sure it’s only a software problem but what if the upgrade doesn’t hold? Please read the problems I’ve encountered and let me know, thanks

When camera was on the phone would not take a picture with the camera button and said System Fault then it took pictures with the centre select button, then when looking at the new pictures in the gallery the,
•did not adjust pixel clarity, sometimes it does adjust clarity, sometimes not
•showed same picture as I tried to scroll to the next one
•pictures stretch
•froze picture and took me to the grid menu has happened twice now

When you press and hold the Media Key to activate the shortcut to the music player, the phone says General: System Fault and then will NOT play any audio tracks. Phone will also do the same as above if you select the Music Player icon from the menu
Other Faults
•white noise from earpiece when on a call
•very poor reception even with full bars
•turned it self off twice while it still had batter at least 2 bars
•pressing profile button on top of phone sometimes will not bring up lock keypad option especially after phone has frozen
•will not play some mp3’s
•phone backlight comes on then sometimes dims by ½ the brightness straight away and sometimes does not. Phone is not set up to do that
•when I assign a contact to a user group and assign a ring tone to that user group when the contact rings the ring tone assigned does not ring, but rings the profile tone instead

•I took a picture then a video then I opened the gallery to view the picture, it looked ok then I pressed C to delete it conform delete yes, picture stayed on though it show the name of the next picture. Then froze went to white start up screen for a minute then to wallpaper screen
•Took another 2 pictures closed camera opened gallery, phone opened to a picture straight away then jumped to last picture taken and displayed it in portrait view. Picture was not taken in that view, then scrolled to next picture and back again and picture was full size
•Deleted It phone froze picture and took me to the grid menu

Got a new phone back today and already it back to its old tricks
•Took pic then viewed it, deleted it phone froze and took me to TOOLS menu
•Took pic then viewed it, zoomed in then froze and loaded up again
•Then I went back to try again and the phone could not locate the memory card?
•Phone said, no memory card inserted Had to take it out and reinsert
•Took 3 pictures only displayed 2 new pics in the gallery, has happened 3 times
•When on a call using speaker, green distorted line appeared over the bottom of the digital clock
•Screen displayed 00:02:06 in a white box under call icon box whilst on a call and remained on with same digits for call duration of 10min
•Phone would not charge when using charger extension lead

Hi ive had this phone since is was first released in the uk, and i must say its my fav and ive had alot of phones. eveything about the phone is class, what i would recommend is getting the fireware upgraded i was on 3 something and i had probs with it, i went to my nokia service center but they only had the same version that was on the phone so i upgraded it my self using the standard usb cable that came with the phone.

Please somebody help me...my phone hangs at some places..for example while changing the song in music player or while reading or opening SMS....also sometimes restarts automatically......Otherthan all this i had put 1GB Card......but i m able to store only 300mb..and if put more than 300 mb,the phone will ecome dead slow.....or hangs..please tell me wheather this Card fault or Phone fault...i came to knw i have to update my firmware.......Its getting worser and worse this phone as time goes......please help me Thanks in Advance...........

The sms really su*ks! Can someone help here? i just got my firmware upgraded in the Nokia centre one month ago, it was great for a while then the sms' started to get really slow again... please help cos i'm really getting fed-up with this phone.

Good phone, but iam sad that it couldn't take pics like SE k800i.Moreover the Sony Ericsson p990i has a better symbian with an easy to use touchscreen.THe p990i looks way more hotter and expensive.Other than that , I think it's a good phone.

FALSHING LIGHT PROBLEM
Turn the sleep mode off. This means the display stays on dimly with the clock moving about so presumably uses more power. Its in settings>phone>display then 3rd option down.
