Hi SoFtMc,

I really look forward to your application or guidelines on how to improve the memory usage for applications in S60 platform, esp the browser.

Thanks.

People who keep complaining are mostly comming from SE platforms ---trying to cross sell on the nokia forums--- and usually have no damn clue what this phone is capable.

If you want a stupid phone with no expandable functionality dull design for most, and made in china, go for the SE and get out of this post.

For those who are truly looking for in-depth knowhow about the symbian 3rd edition platform + N80, and not only display a bunch of assumption crabs in the posts for the rest to see, you will discover the potentials and technical outbrakes this phone has to offer.

      1) You can increase the APPLICATION cache of your Symbian 3rd - Mobile Phone with a little effort and programming skills. I will prepare a small application and post it for free for the rest to use and will redirect the Applications memory cache on the memory card.

      2) Upgrading the Memory Card to 1GB+ will increase the phones stability as stated by someone else in here----and to those who claim otherwise---- if and only you install you applications on the memory card. I don't believe that there is anyone stupid enough to install apps on the phones internal memory.

      3) Cache ----to those who assume that they know --- is a 1st stage temporal memory storage after/before the phones internal processor. It architecture has nothing to do with the application cache of the phone which ----as described by the 3rd edition platform, can be moved upon manufactures request to any scalable medium.

      Regards

I want to turn off my N80's camera shutter sound. So, I called and asked Nokia's people in Hong Kong about this matter. They told me by turning off keypad tone / warning tone on general/silent/outdoor/meeting the shutter sound would go away completely. But it still did not work. In fact, I asked them to grap a N80 and turn off the shutter sound with me on the phone. It worked on theirs N80. They suggested me to take my N80 to get checked. I truly beleve there is nothing wrong with my phone as this is a brand brand new phone. Can anyone help me here? By the way, I got this phone as a gift from my Chinese friend in LA one week ago and this phone is able to change to Chinese language.

Yeah I got it thanks. Question though, is there anyway way to update the firmware by yourself...I am in the US and they still haven't received this phone yet, so the nokia dealers can not do it. I have one of the earliest versions, so there is barely any cache in the phone, it runs out of memory very quickly.

hi everyone, i just put in the order for my N80 and it should come in next week. for those who want to get it the cheapest on a cap plan in australia, go to TELECHOICE.... they have made an error in their advertising and are forced to give it on the optus cap plan at $20 monthly repayments over 24 months. Optus themselves giv it on the 49 cap plan for $32 monthly repayments. but be quick, telechoice said they are gonna charge $32 from next month!!!

if u think u have a virus, take out niniSD and see if the problem has gone, if not then back up ur contacts etc to pc or jot them down, then in stanby enter *#7370#, make sure u got plenty battery power tho! ENTERING THIS CODE WILL REMOVE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE PUT ONTO PHONE MEMORY!!! it will not efect ur memory card tho!

Yes its available at telstra for $0 on a $60 plan. or on the cheapest cap plan ($49) its another $44 per month/ 24 months. Also rang Optus, not ut yet, hopefully within two weeks and the cheapest plan they have is $99 and u will still need to pay $500 odd dollars up front for the phone. and on the cheapest cap ($49) its another $33 per month/ 24 months. So im thinking of switching to telstra(im optus now) and going the $60 plan.. or waiting another couple ofweeks and going on the cap plan with optus..

                                      The N80 does Vibrate.
It's doing it as I write.
The sleep mode flashing blue light is funny, its like a disco while you sleep.
The camera is awesome. Everyone should get an N80!
