does anyone know why most stores sell the black version of the N80? Ive asked all around and almost all stores only have black!! And i've noticed that the silver color costs more than the black!! is the silver better than the black?? is it a limited edition?

okay 2gig miniSDs do work in an N80, but in my experience they are unstable (work sometimes and not others. - i bet a firmware update will fix this).

nokia have confirmed that the largest 'supported' miniSD is 1gig. this comment of theirs is rather general as it does not confirm a 2gig wont work. basically a 1gig is guaranteed and a 2gig is not.

my card is made by memorycorp and they state that it should be compat with the N80, they've said its 100% compat with all MiniSD branded devices.....
i plan to upgrade firmware in the future.

What is the difference between the Black and Silver one, and why was it a mistake to get the black one? I would think it would be better to get the black one because fingerprints don't appear on it, as it would on the silver one.

the battery life is not '3 hours max' i have used wifi for over an hour browsing html pages, bluetooth on constantly, taken pictures and sent txts for an entire day and the battery life still had 2 bars left.

so if you use it a lot you will just need to put it on charge every night...

How can u compare the motorola A1200 to the N80..

                      things the n80 has which a1200 doesn't:

                      -EDGE
                      -3G
                      -WLAN
                      -Infra Red
                      -3mpx camera
                      -Secondary camera for video calls
                      -Hi-Res screen

Very important info for owners and interested buyers, pertaining to the video issue.[/B]

I just bought mine yesterday, and had the really nasty shock from the video capturing. (I didn't read these forums thoroughly). In one word, the quality is APPALLING. Discoloured, smudgy, jerky. Flooded with noise. If you use it under flouroscent, you can actually see horizontal boxes streaming downwards.

So. I called the Singaporean Nokia helpdesk twice today. And went to two service centres.

The first service centre (Suntec City) was absolutely helpless. The lady didn't understand what I meant by "a lot of noise in the video quality" and took it that I was complaining about the audio of the recording. After much explanation, she told me that branch had no technican or engineer available that day and I may like to consider returning tomorrow.

                          That's ludricrous, isn't it?

I went off, and called the helpdesk. According to the helpdesk, the N70 has a larger lens aperture than the N80, so that might result in the "better quality" video especially in terms of lighting. I didn't accept that because the difference in quality is far more than just marginal.

After hanging up, I proceeded to the Wheelock Place branch. Upon examination by the available engineers there, they told me that indeed something is wrong with the camera. The quality of the video recording should be much better. Currently, I have left the phone with them for detailed checking. They didn't, however, tell me how long it would take.

So for those facing this problem, I advise you go to a nokia centre and insist on the problem. Because I honestly do think that it's not what it's supposed to be. I may be nitpicking. But the videos taken by the secondary VGA camera on my set is actually better than those taken by the main camera.

PS: I've considered exchanging for another set yesterday, but eventually changed my mind. This is even though I may have to live with the horrid video recorder. Reasons are:

                          1) The Symbian (not that it was ever an issue for me), is indeed smoother and faster. Although, be prepared to lose all your previous programmes, Java or Symbian.

                          2) Much more sophisticated camera options, and music player options.

                          3) Speakers surprising loud and good. Ear piece is also much better than the stupid and stiff lanyard one that comes with the earlier N series.

                          4) Gorgeous display. This is probably the last N series to use 352 by 416. I think it has something to do with the resolution being too high for most softwares, esp Java. Anybody can confirm?

                          5) Needless to say. The Wi Fi

Nokia N80. just bought this phone and i made the terrible mistake of buying a black one, luckily they are going to change it for me. Its an okay phone but the font size when reading or sending text messages leaves a lot to be desired, its a very small font size and its also not able to be altered, I know this as have just got off the phone to Nokia. apart from that all seems well.

Nokia N80 is very good in its display and camera. But is it that good enough to beat Motorola A1200/Ming.Motorola supports LINUX unlike hopeless OS like symbian in most phone.Better Luck Next time in choosing wisely.
