N80 was out yesterday in singapore. The phone was sold out within hours in all the Nokia stores. Price is at S$1038 Smaller retail shops might still have stock, but charge higher price. Black is the more popular colours. 3 Telco still not launch but most probably this Sat, but not worth to get with 2yrs contract now.

N83 is a much better looking phone with some great features. Simply Wonderful!

Friends we have been deceived by Nokia. Those f**kers have announced N83 now. Now even if we buy N80, we still have this feeling somewhere within our hearts "N83 is better".

I don't expect N83 to be released before late 2007 though:(

managed to order the silver n80 from CPW today. 119 pounds on a 12month, 25 quid per month plan. im pretty happy with that since i had resigned myself to paying around 200 pounds going on what those other compaies were quoting.
i was told that no black phones were delivered initially.... whether thats true or not i dont know, but they committed to exchanging my silver phone should the black become available within 14 days. either way in the end thats great service!!!

FROM PC MAG 26 April 2006:

Nokia plans to open a "flagship store" in Chicago on June 21, with a New York store in the "Fifth Avenue region" opening before the end of 2006, Nokia Director of Multimedia Computers David Watkins told PC Magazine today. Both stores will sell phones not available directly through US carriers, he said.
The stores will sell Nokia's full North American product lines, including high-end phones like Nokia's N93, N91, N73, and N80. The N93 camcorder-phone, released today in Berlin, was not initially announced as available for the US. This black "multimedia computer" is huge for a phone, but relatively small for a high-quality camcorder that records 640-by-480, MP4-format video at 30 frames per second; takes 3.2-megapixel stills with 3X optical zoom; plays MP3s, surfs the Web, reads e-mail, and connects to Wi-Fi. It's all about how you think of it. The camcorder/camera/phone/"multimedia computer" will cost approximately $682 when it goes on sale in July, according to a Nokia press release.

(Yes, this means I'm eating my words. I'm happy to do so.)

The N73 is more traditionally phone-like. It's a reasonably sized candybar phone with an attractive silver and plum-colored case. Slide the lens cover on the back to reveal a 3.2MP camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, but no optical zoom. Like the N93, the N73 runs the Symbian smartphone operating system with the Series 60 interface, so it can run Web browsers, office applications, multimedia applications, or games. Nokia did not announce a price for the N73.
The $620 N80, another 3MP cameraphone with the Symbian Series 60 smartphone interface, has a super-high-res 352-by-416 screen and Wi-Fi. Because it also supports Cingular's new medium-high-speed UMTS network on the 1900 Mhz band, it's been rumored to be coming out from Cingular for months now. Whether Cingular actually does pick it up or you'll have to buy it directly from Nokia, it will be the most powerful phone for Cingular's UMTS network.

Watkins also provided an update on the N91, Nokia's chunky music phone with a 4GB hard drive. The N91 will play Windows Media format music and sync with Windows Media Player on PCs, but will not initially play protected songs purchased from online music stores, he said. That capability, including the ability to play songs from subscription stores like Yahoo! Music and Rhapsody, will follow in a free software upgrade. The N91 will come to stores "soon," Watkins said; he didn't give a price. When it does, it will probably be the first hard-drive phone sold in the USA.

Nokia's stores, meanwhile, mark a turning point in phone retailing in North America. Cell phone manufacturers here generally don't sell direct; the vast majority of phones are sold through carriers' stores, where they're heavily discounted and bundled with service plans. "Indirect dealers" like Amazon, Wirefly, and CompUSA also sell phones, but they usually stick to carriers' approved lists of phones.

Nokia has dabbled with direct sales in the past through its Web site, but they're getting more aggressive now, Watkins said. They've already sold their 7300-series fashion phones through unusual channels at Nieman-Marcus and Bloomingdales department stores, and the N90 cameraphone was sold at Ritz Camera. They're now going to sell more phones through more independent dealers, and open their own branded stores – the first for a phone manufacturer in the US. (Samsung has a showroom in New York, but you can't buy anything there.)

According to a report in the Chicago Tribune last October, the store will take up 3,500 square feet at 545 N. Michigan Avenue. Watkins did not give an exact address for the store. A job posting on Monster.com says that the New York store will open in "summer 2006," though Watkins only committed to the last half of this year.

"Virtually anything that could possibly be available in this market will be there," said Nokia spokesman Keith Nowak. "The people who work there will be Nokia people, with knowledge that will be deep. And the luxury of having some of these new channels is, it gives us the opportunity to offer products which are a little lower volume, and a little targeted."

                              Hey, it worked for Apple.

ive been with e2save for the past yr - very good & reliable.

But then, you would expect that of a company OWNED by the CarPhone Warehouse.

Yes thats right, e2save is a sister company of the CPW - so you have absolutely nothing to worry about!

Bob, let me say thanks from all of us for taking the time to write your thoughts and ideas about the N80 as everyone is waiting to learn more. I have a few more questions as I'm sure others will so I've put them in CAPS below your paragraphs.

Okay, I now have the N-80 in my hands and this is my first impression after playing with it for one day. The size takes a little getting use to only because I'm use to my RAZR. Its a little narrower than the RAZR and almost exactly the same length but it's almost twice as thick. This however hasn't bothered me in the least and it acually feels smaller to me than the RAZR when holding it for a call.

DO YOU LIKE THE SOUND QUALITY COMPARED TO YOUR RAZR? HOW DOES IT FEEL WHEN YOU CARRY IT AROUND FOR A DAY...CLUNKY? DO YOU MISS THE EASY CONVENIENCE OF THE RAZR? WHAT'S YOUR SENSE OF HOW LONG THE BATTERY LASTS GIVEN YOU ARE PROBABLY STILL PLAYING WITH THE PHONE CONSTANTLY?

The screen is a bit smaller than the RAZR but makes up for it in picture quality which is excellent. I have seen a lot of pros and con reviews on this phone but my first impression is a definate 9 overall. The volume is also very very loud and when I played some music with the speakers I was very satified with the quality. Using the PC software to add music files was very easy.

HOW ABOUT THE SLIDE MECHANISM..IS IT SOLID IN ITS FEEL? DO YOU FEEL LIKE THE SCREEN IS A LITTLE SMALL EVEN THOUGH THE QUALITY IS GREAT?

I also took a few pictures and can tell you it is far better than the RAZR. I hated my RAZR camera and if caught without my Sony 5 megapixel camera I would have no problems using this N80 to take them instead.

SOUNDS GREAT ABOUT THE CAMERA...HOW DO YOU LIKE USING THE CAMERA? IS IT EASY TO SWITCH OVER TO IT AND TAKE A SHOT QUICKLY?

The phones built in mans voice commands sound quality is not on par with my wifes Cingular 8125 but that isn't really all that important and or used that much and I'm sure there will be downloads like there are for the 8125 to enhance this feature. The dial by name works very well but I don't think you can dial by voice speaking the numbers like the 8125 will do.

WHAT NETWORK ARE YOU ON..CINGULAR OR T-MOBILE? ANY PROBLEMS WITH CALLS GIVEN THAT THE PHONE IS AN UNLOCKED MODEL VS. ONE THAT THEY OFFER? IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE VOICE-DIALED CALLS THROUGH THE NETWORK YOU ARE ON? (SPRINT DOES THIS, ETC)

I was able to sync with my Outlook 2003 with ease. Needless to say, because you can't buy insurance on this phone you need to handle it with care. I feel feel comfortable at this point recommending this phone but it is expensive as hell and Nokia USA will not honor the warranty opn it in the US. I hope my information here helps some of you a little on deciding to buy the phone

                                        THANKS AGAIN!
