No, we do know how thick it is. Its 26mm thick. Which is far too thick.

See for yourself just how horribly fat this thing is:

    http://www.mobile-review.com/review/image/nokia/n80/pic005.jpg

Then realise what was said in the same review:

"and the body thickens to 26 mm around the camera module, which is quite a negative factor as a user has already got used to slim solutions.

...in a shirt pocket it will be noticeable and mainly due to its thickness it will be felt in jeans."

To me, thats quite a serious design flaw. To a lot of consumers, it will be quite a serious design flaw.

Its already losing customers from its obscene dimensions and poor battery life. Its just not acceptable and there is quite a large buzz within the market about just how disgustingly obese this thing really is; in other words, its seriously putting people off this phone. Wi-Fi alone is not going to win over customers... (NB: dont forget the poor battery life when thinking about the Wi-Fi on this horrible wedge).

some people on here are well immature its unbelievable. and the funniest thing about it is the phone isn't even out yet. noone knows how thick it is etc. do some people not udnerstand people have different preferences. maybe some people like the thickness of it and are happy to carry it round. some people don't think it has good features, fair enough, just because people don't agree with you don't start getting abusive to people because its ridiculously childish. some people.

oh and don't bother replying because you've already made it perfectly clear that all you can argue about is the fact that this phone is thicker than the average phone..

okay things hte N80 has which k800 doesn't:

            quadband
            hi-res screen
            edge
            WLAN
            UPnP
Symbian S60 (the fastest os for mobiles which u can get TONS of gr8 software apps for)

dude these are KEY features of hte N80. u think wifi isn't important and yet you can get free broadband interent access to browse full html websites on your phone. You really think this ISNT a good feature???

oh and what's good about the k800???

            autofocus???
higher battery life which means u only have to charge the fone every other night rather than every night?

I think the features on the n80 are a LOT more important than these little gimics on the k800

you say this phone is an inch thick???

LOL then how bout u look at this photo...

            http://www.mobile-review.com/review/image/nokia/n80/pic004.jpg

do u really think that's too thick?

if ure so obsessed with thickness and that's ure only REAL argument against hte n80 then u shud get a RAZR with shi*tall features but yeah woohoo it's nice and thin

How come the processor is only 214MHZ? N70,6680 and 6630 already running a 220MHZ processor.
                this is sad...

Im not saying wait til nxt yr to buy a new phone. All im saying is to buy this phone right now is a complete waste of money and time.

Wait for the new SE's and then upgrade early nxt yr. Thats ur best bet if you are after the "best" phone..

CMV - there is "no better phone on the market right now".

Is that because only because the "competitor" to this phone (the SE K800) cant fit a FEW extra pixels onto the screen, DOESNT have symbian, or a CRAPPY wi-fi aerial.

Should we overlook the K800's superior camera, battery life and PRICE too shall we?

I think the fan boys like you CMV need to wake up and remove your rose tinted specs when it comes to this thing.

The N80 is the "best phone on the market" purely because it has a few features MORE than the next phone, most of which you would NEVER use anway. Pull the other one and smell what you're shovelling...

Both of them are horribly designed though.

Lets just face the fact that right now is a bad time to buy a new phone cos all of them have problems of some kind.

End of the yr/to early nxt yr is when we will start to get the new generation of decent phones.

dude the n93 sux compared to this wats the point in waiting for a worse phone???

The n80 is better than the n93 because N93 doesn't have:

                            Infra Red Port
                            Hi-Res Screen
                            Quadband

But the N93 does have a better camera (with carl zeiss lens)

3features extra on the n80 vs 1 feature improved on the n93...
The N80 is a lot better looking than the n93 also.

The N93 should be a good phone. It will most likely have a very good camera.

However, it is EVEN bigger/fatter than the N80 and its screen will not have as high resolution as the N80.

I suppose it depends what you want out of a phone. I get the feeling the cellular industry is in a bit of a "transitionary" period with new technology, etc which means new phones coming out right now will have some BIG pro's and some BIG con's. My bet would be to stick to a phone that is small and practical and perhaps wait til Q4 to Q1 2007 when we really WILL be getting 'perfect' phones that have all the features + look good and are small too.

                                  ...contnued (HTML prob!)

4.how is the speed? "with an aleggedly cut back processor (less than 300MHz), this thing may be slightly faster than the N70 but it still lacks that 'cutting edge' when navigating menus, etc".

5.slider is it good.? "lol. NO. The slider on the N80 is NOT spring loaded. The slide mechanism seems to run on 'polished' tracks. This makes the slide feel as if the plastic is grating against itself, which isnt exactly good considering this is supposed to be a 'luxury' phone. It also begs the question as to why this thing is SO expensive when it has so many flaws."

If i were you, i would wait until a better phone comes out, that doesnt have so many flaws + have some cash left in your pocket too.

                                  Hope this helps

                                    To Heronimous:

1.camera how is it? "Crap. Yes, it may be 3MP, but there is NO autofocus which means even in GOOD daylight, it is very difficult to get DECENT photos. The macro mode is also pretty useless."

2.wifi how is it wokring "Wi-Fi will work, but most 'public' places where WI-FI is available charge a fee. For that reason, its more practical to use a laptop due to speed of use. So it seems this feature is more of a gimmick than a serious mobile solution.

3.UPNP how is it. "not sure but i should imagine it will work."

Comparing a symbian phone with an "ordinary" phone is like comparing a linux computer with an old DOS computer.
