I totally agree SE K800 or Samsung D870 are by far the best Mobile options.

If you want a really "Mobile" symbian you can get the Samsung i310 or wait for Nokia N73 or E70.

This N80 was simply Over-rated & Wasteful to start with...

I really knew that once people would touch & get a hold of this phone, they'll b turned-off instantly.

While SE, Motorola & Samsung have been slimming down & adding "Useful" features to their phone, Nokia has Bulked-up & done the reverse (relying on impractical gimmicks)

Iv'e forseen this, N80 is very expensive yet its bulk & poor performance (poor battery)is highly regrettable...Nokia should quickly launch it's relatively slim N73 or E60 if it wants to preserve its lead...

If there was another phone on the market that had the EXACT same features, apart from Wi-Fi - but it WAS 5mm THINNER - which would you buy?

What if it didnt have Symbian? But it was 5mm thinner. Oh and it has a 3MP camera THAT DOES ACTUALLY WORK.

        Its called the SE K800.

Why buy a phone that has "loads of features" most of which you r never gonna use anyway. Thats a bit geeky.

Why buy a phone which is probably the thickest since the Phillips CellStar (TM) back in the 80s?

Talk about design embarrassment. Nokia knows they have f*cked up this one. Expect a HUGE price drop during summer when Nokia realises the reason why this phone DIDNT sell was not becuase of its high release price, but because of its AWFUL DESIGN.

I did really want this phone at first, but was a little miffed when i found out it was an INCH thick. In todays world, thats almost like adding the special effects to a film using a Vic 20. Its unacceptable and IMPRACTIBLE.

My money is now banked on the SE K800 or K610. While it'll be a shame to leave Symbian behind, at least they are MOBILE phones. The K610 only has a 2MP cam and its not QVGA, but it is by far the best looking phone to be released over the past few years.

Sorry for shattering the desperate peoples' dreams on this forum, but this phone should ONLY be bought by those wo GENUINELY need its features. Otherwise, its a complete rip-off and a BONA-FIDE brick, and there aint nothing cool about that.

I get the feeling people are only obsessed with this hunk of lard purely to "brag" to their mates about the sh*tty features of this phone, which, ironically, they are never going to use anyway. So why buy it? its a dog. And no, im not an SE/other brand fanboy. Up until now i have been Nokia thru-and-thru.

M9F6 - You are absolutely right. As the name suggests, "Mobile Phone" should first be mobile. N80 was a long awaited phone but it's thickness totally shattered our dreams as loyal Nokia customers.

No point in waiting for even N73 or 93 or whatever. All these phones are lemon. Heavy and ugly!

Nokia should probably call it, "The Immobile N-Series":(

As suggested by M9F6, I might start looking at SE800 or other options.

To Y11e - Thank you. Finally someone WHO hasnt had the wool pulled over their eyes by Nokia.

Over the past few years, phone companies have been making their phones smaller and SLIMMER, owing to customer demands. In other words, SIZE is important. It makes or breaks a phones success.

E.g. the Motorola SLVR is one of the worst phones on the market but sells in DROVES cos it is tiny and slim.

Features begin to become irrelevant after a while because eventually all you end up using your phone for is phoning people, txting and maybe using WAP every now and then.

If you REALLY, REALLY cant live without Wi-FI for your PHONE, then get the N80. If you can, then stick to your home/work/college connection which is far easier to use and more responsive.

And if you can live WITHOUT Wi-Fi (which is the ONLY thing that seperates this thing from other phones), then look elsewhere and dont waste your money on this disgusting brick. The cam is sh*te too.

If you want a good screen/excellent cam/without it being a brick - wait for the N73. Otherwise the SE K800 or K610 are safe bets too.

N80 - isnt it amazing what hype can do to a flawed product that is basically selling itself on little-used gimmicks (wi-fi).

I wanted to get this phone for a while but now, I have realized that it is too thick to fit in the pockets. I am not a big fan of carrying heavy bricks with me..Afterall, it's a mobile phone first. Whats the point if we can't carry it everywhere.

Shame on you Nokia! After a long reasearch, you again deceived your fans by putting all these great features in a BRICK sized phone:(

MK - my apologies, and yes, perhaps my use of words wasnt in the best of taste, but my point remains.

Either way, i have better things to do with my time than "argue" with someone on a geeky message board about pointless sh*te. Life is a little too short to argue with someone about something that i wouldnt say is too different than watching paint dry.

If you like this phone buy it, if you dont, then dont buy it. And yes, NEVER buy Motorola's, they are all balls.

And no MK, i'm not going to use "online reviews" to back up my point for the benefit of the users of this forum.

I think you are also failing to consider that it's actual 'footprint' is much smaller than most other phones of this type. Because of this it 'feels' thicker, because the thickness is a greater proportion of it's size, when in relative turns compared to other phones it is not that much more.

Ok, so it's only 15% thicker. Proportionally it is not that much. I don't think it's a problem.

If you want to dispute me, why don't you provide some EVIDENCE that what I said is not the case. I can provide you links that indicate that it's maximum thickness is 28mm compared to the maximum of 26mm for the N70.

Let me know and we can have as showdown! :D Let the forum decide? Power to the people?

Erm... the Nokia N70 is 21.8mm thick.

This fat embarrassment is 26mm thick.

4.2mm is QUITE a difference, esp when u hav it in your pocket.

Yes i have seen the phone, yes i have held it and played around with it.

And yes, it is f*ckin obese.

And that reminds me, i forgot to mention. The SLIDE mechanism of this phone is NOT spring-loaded, which means it feels like plastic GRATING against itself, its horrible.

Hardly something you would expect of a "luxury" phone with a "luxury" price tag. Yet more sh*tty things wrong with this overrated and overhyped phone.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but has the guy who complains about it being 'fat' actually held one of these phones in their hand? No one complained about the N70 being thick, and this is just 2mm thicker. 28mm compared to 26mm. Now that's less than 10% thicker than the n70. I wouldn't say that is bad in the slightest. I'm not a nokia fanboy but I think that some people are making stuff up and using their imagination to slate this phone. I have a SE W800 btw at the moment.

@ Jonny - regarding how many songs you can get on it, this depends on:

                                  1. memory card size
                                  2. size of mp3s

I have a 2GB card on my phone and have about 400 songs on it, hope that helps.
                                  :)

Found a good site that has the N80 available.

                                    http://www.mobilereserve.com/display.asp?hs=n80

Looks like they find the deals and forward you to the retailer to buy direct.

I've ordered mine and for all the features this phone has i'll live with the thickness of it.

                                      This thing is TOO thick.

While its nice to have a QVGA screen and Wi-Fi, i can easily live without it.

However, my pocket would find it difficult to live with a 1 inch solid plastic bulge in it.

For that reason, this ovepriced hunk of lard is out of the equation.

Roll on K800 please... It might not have Wi-Fi, but seriously, who is gonna use it anyway apart from in your home. And yes, it also doesnt have Symbian.

But it does have a QVGA screen and its camera KICKS the N80's ass about as hard as a Mike Tyson punch.

Read reveiws about the N80 camera - no autofocus - ALL the reviews are saying it is impossible to get decent pictures.

Why pay through the teeth for something that doesnt even work properly?

No thanks. Overpriced balls, just riding its reputation on hype, hysteria and a brand.

Im not that much of a f*ckin muppet to buy into it. For everyone else, wake up, do some research and wait another 2 months until a DECENT phone DOES come out, cos this one has some serious flaws (Camera/disgusting thickness).
