Since N80 hs a Wi-fi LAN technology u can use the mobile as a webcam when connected to a PC or a laptop and the streaming of the webcam image will be much clear and more impressive when compared to a normal low range PC webcams

Well let me tell you this.. Wireless LAN is just a technology through which u can connect to the internet wirelessly. If your network supports then you can use messenger in the mobile which is an ADD-ON software, But u cannot use it or browse the messenger like how u do it in the PC....coz symbian OS doesnt support popups or online mesenger streaming except that u can watch online streaming videos if your network supports! N80 is not a PDA functionality. it is just a COMPLETE Smart Phone

Do any of you know if the N80 has VoIP (skype)capability through its WLAN?
Now the N80 has gotten serious competition in my mind after I've seen Fujitsu-Siemens' Pocket Loox T-series. It's a real PDA fusioned with a smartphone. It has WLAN g/b, VoIP, GPS and editing of data, but is bigger and has an inferior camera compared to N80.

hi guys,
Lets stop assuming things about this phone. This is the first ever phone to be released with the most demanding technologies in the daily lifestyle. This is the first phone which doeesnt say "NO" in any features especially when compared to other phone which are segregated into various models like 6630,6680,6681 and N70, N90,N91,N92...!!!!!!11
NOkia N80 is theonly phone which has almost all the features, in-fact MORE THAN any mobile has got. The only dissappointment is that it does not have the feature of connecting it to a TV Reciever Output like in SAMSUNG D600 has and like in Nokia N92 with (DVB-H TV broadcast receiver). However considering the features i think nokia atlast stopped playing a fool around by bringing up all the features (MORE THAN ANY NOKIA MOBILE HAS GOT) integrated in the same small compact smart phone. I think 3Mpixel cam ,20x(With 3MP Woww) zoom , W-lan,Radio,264k pixel, a little more ....
-Not a masterpiece but simply the best phone that u could ever imagine.
I believe the only defect would be the battery life and as usual ur word excel ppts which i think will not be that effective like how it is in Nokia 9930 and communicaters. Nokia Press has announced in 500 euros approx... and it wud probaly in first quarter ...so because of the demands it might belaunched in march end or april or may. So letz compromise and not expect a computer to be a mobile phone, even though it is almost a smart mini computer ...So letz simply and desperately(heheh) wait for it
SO WAT DO SAY GUYS....................!!!!!!

does anyone know if the N80 can access encrypted/protected wi-fi networks? Nokia says that it can connect to every "public hotspot" (and they also say that these hotspots are 136.000 all around the world even if they are many many many more!!!) does it mean that you can't insert a WEP or WPA key in that phone? If anyone tried out this feature please inform us about it. Thanks a lot

please this phone was outdated before it even came out, the sharp 903 has a 3.2mp camerea. So what do nokia do,turn it into a smart phone, smart phones are regared in the PDA sector as wannabe's they just do not compare. unfortunatley I think this flawed phone will be poular due to the advertising and becuse it is done by nokia, the only reason I would have bought this phone would have been if, it had 5mp camera or if it was a proper pda I was orginally looking forward to this phone, it a shame such a shame, big let down.

to ben,
UPnP technology extends Plug and Play to simplify the networking of intelligent devices in homes and businesses. When devices incorporating UPnP technology are physically connected to the network, they'll connect automatically to one another over the network, without the need for user configuration or centralized servers.
The UPnP specification is based on TCP/IP and Internet protocols that let devices communicate with each other. That's why it's called universal—UPnP technology doesn't rely on specific device drivers, using instead these standard protocols. UPnP devices can automatically configure network addressing, announce their presence on a network subnet, and permit the exchange of device and service descriptions. A Windows XP-based computer can act as a UPnP control point, discovering and controlling devices through a program interface.

anyone claiming to hve a working version of a fully functional N80 or N92 is, to put it mildly, delusional...at best they may hve gotten a beta version of the fones where the bugs hvnt been workd out yet...there is NO way a company like NOKIA would release a fone to selected individuals bfore its launching date...this is a discussion forum on cell fones so lets discuss their features, if some of u want to feel important by virtue of lying, i suggest u go somewhere else.
