No, the wifi function is for WIFI networking/internet only. It is possible to have VOIP thru wift, but that's only a possibility.

Does the symbian N80 support online programs like internet explorer and msn messenger? im aware that it has the WLAN function but it defeats the purpose if it doesnt support basic html web browsing and msn chat.

Update on the N80..
Well I guys.. As for my research, I have some BAD news and GOOD news.
This post is for United States Customers only!
To start off with the good news.
FCC has finally approved this phone to work in the US. Which means we are just waiting for the date of sale.
The Bad news..
We all heard the rumor that Cingular will get this phone right? Well its not actually a rumor, its true! But then Nokia refuse to put a 1900Mhz UMTS on it.. So both company just called it off..
Bad News is Cingular won't have this phone now!!

They're scammers mate. Don't buy unreleased phones from Ebay as they are European/Nigerian scammers who hijack legitimate ebay accounts and sell non existent items. They'll request you pay by Western Union or other form of non-recoverable money transfer, and you'll get nothing back from them. Don't even consider it fella.

hi every one,
got some info not sure what is going on but on ebay it seems that the nokia n80 and n92 are for sale.they claim that the product is released and is ready for shipping....why,i thought the phone is not released yet and unconfirmed it's released date.something is smelling fishy here any suggestions ???

this phone is QUADBAND GSM 850/900/1800/1900mhz
AND dualmode WCDMA. 1900/2100 mhz which mean it supports ALL GSM bands, where did you got that info? check www.nokia.com and check the nseries site the info about the phone capabilities are there, and some related things about the phone itself. please people don't make bad publicity on a phone, u won't gain anything from it.

Please help me understand the WiFi functionality of the phone. Because it gets 802.11g, does that mean that I can use my WiFi at home (where I get poor reception) to get better reception using my at home WiFi.

To clarify.... The phone is a GSM TRIBAND 850/900/1900 but it only has 1900mhz UMTS and cingular requires for both 850/1900mhz to be UMTS

This phone is going to take a long time to come to the USA. Cingular just declined the phone because it only had 1900mhz UMTS and not the 850 which we use mostly here. So nokia is going to work around this issue.... No date was given by nokia as in when they were going to be ready for shipping......

The only problem with this phone is the battery but if u can swap biger battery in your phone then its readly good.

Im gonna assume this nokia management guy is bogus...
Anyway as a programmer i find have bluetooth, wireless and uPnP all in one phone too good to pass up i think :) i just hope it performs well

Hi!
This is interesting smartphone :-). Nokia N80 has everything what you need :) radio, WLAN or 3 megapixel photos...
But I have question...
Do the applications write to smartphones like 6680, N70 (older than symbian version 9), will works on N80? or maybye this applications will must be rewrited to symbian version 9 to works on N80?

To anyone who thought I liked 770, you're wrong. I have no interest in it. I'm still getting N80 (of course). And I know that 770 is not a "proper" phone. All I said was that it's miles better than N92 when it comes to the screen.

Ken, the thing below the camera that is moon shaped must be the switch of macro mode, i havent seen it in the pictures but i assume thats what it is.
