I wish the upgrade of this phone is not as thick as this one. The 26mm thickness of cell phone is the most in the market.

to alex.....
I agree that screensize is more important than resolution. But the gap isn't that big (espeically since N92's screen is just a little bit bigger, and because N80's res is quite alot sharper).
------- so it does only mean that n92 wins in MOST gamers than n80...
N92 may have "louder" and "clearer" playback through the speakers (through the headset they have the EXACT same quality). This is because 2 speakers are always better than one. Even if it's 2 mono speakers. But it depends on a lot of factors. None of us can know for sure which will have better sound. If you want the phone with the best soundquality get N91 instead, cause even though it has a mono speaker, it playes louder, clearer and better (quality wise) compared to both N92 and N80. It has a very big loudspeaker and better soundhardware.
------ hey, how could you conclude that n91 has better speaker??(it's not yet released)
n92 still, will have the best LOUDSPEAKER performance because it has two speakers. AND we're just concerning on n92 and n80...
n91 is out of the comparison.
"What I don't get, is your comparison between the "media phone" 7710 and the "connectivity phone" 6680. It doesn't prove anything for N92 and N80. They are completely different models"
------ this really proves you don't know nokia's strategy... i'm really studyin their strategy since the time of series 60(7650),so i know what phone has "reincarnated" from a "dead" phone. 7710 is a "dead" phone... series 90 was discontinued... i agree that 7710 is really different from n92(but never 6680 to n80) but 7710's and n92's "POINTS" are the same.
EXPLANATION:
1. they both have dvbh capability(integrated on N92,and add-on in 7710)
2. they are both intended for "MEDIA",
3. they both have LOUDSPEAKER sound performance ABOVE any other series 60 on their times (because,7710 has the BEST big loudspeaker during it's time, and n92 has two loudspeakers-also above from the others for now)
4. they both have screens really intended for watching, ABOVE any nokia phone on their times (meaning it's big, and has correct proportions)
5. they both have lcd quality really intended for watching videos & viewing pictures ABOVE any other nokia phone on their times (more colorful screen of n92 for now, & finer resolution of 7710 than any other phone during it's time)
6. they both have camera performance INFERIOR than the new phone on series 60 on their times(7710's camera is only 1MP,wherein there's already 1.3MP during it's time: n92's camera is only 2MP and no autofocus, wherein there's already 3MP and autofocus on it's time)
7.they both have ergonomic problems(nokia 7710 dont have number keypad, which is a pain when your texting using the stylus while
riding in a moving vehicle: n92's keypad is only made up of one piece sheet of rubber, and it's too flat--meaning, pressing one key don't have a tactile feedback,
consider also that it's a FLAT rubber. i have a link supporting this
http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/item/Nokia_N92_Preview.php
8.they both have the same target market(which is the tech freak crowd). n80 is not for the tech freak(but may also appeal some), n80's target is for the traditional users.
9. they both have high internal memory over the others
10. they both have the "EYE CATCHING"
and "NEW FOR IT'S TIME FORM FACTOR" (7710 may have the oldest formfactor which is candybar, BUT it's a ver big candybar and it's being held horizontally: n92 has the newest form factor on Nokia) but that's only eye catching, because most users still chooses the traditional formfactor, they dont want bulky phones, most users just want average size.
----------------------------------------
nokia n80 and 6680 are moving on the same target market(both intended for work and fun),they are both the company's most well-rounded(this doesn't mean it has the most features) and these twom are the company's s60 masterpiece
phone on their times...
i don't know why you can't understand this simple logic.they are
only counterparts,i'm not tellin they're the same...
i'll show the history...
7650->6600->6630->6680->n70->n80
this is also a different thing:
3650->3230->3250
"Also, N80 is more of a mediaphone than N92 you know!! It has UPnP which means it can stream MEDIA to a TV/Hi-Fi/Stereo etc. This neat media advantage is unfortunatly not present in the N92 model.
-----------my research had found out that n92 and n80 both have UPNP, check this--
http://wireless.engadget.com/2005/11/04/nokia-embraces-upnp-with-new-n-series-additions/
"Neither can you say that N92 will have better sound than N80, since, as we all know, they both have the same soundhardware"
-----------HUH?? yes they both have the same sound hardware, but n92 has two of it! they will have just the same quality, but never the same OVERALL performance.
I'll conclude that n92 is more of a media phone(because it also has UPNP) and n80 a connectivity phone because it is quadband.
same as through with 7710 and 6680, 7710 have
more features of a media device but only triband, and 6680 may not have all the qualities of a media device but it has 3G connectivity.

Yeah, I would agree...even if www.celluloco.com does have the N80 in stock when they are stating (Feb. 14th), I cannot imagine many people will want to buy at $1,598.00 even if it is unlocked!! Crazy, but then people do crazy things to be first....

Yes you can connect to the internet with wifi through hotspot. You can as well connect through your home network, provided you had a wireless network set up at your house with the wifi function. You can use other connectivity option such as edge an 3g to connect to the internet as well.
