dude, since its not out yet, those might be a scam or just prototypes. lots of people have tried buying phones that arent released yet. if you want to get the n80, just wait for it. than risk buying one on ebay, it may be cheaper, but either u wont get any phone, or a crappy phone.

        Hi,

I like lots of functions on my phone but one of the main things i use alot on the phone is the camera therefore one of the biggest things im looking for in the phone is a good camera.

Do you recon its worth the wait for the n80, or just go out and buy a n70 (id be willing to wait if the camera was MUCH better but from reading this, it appears as if it is going to be the same perhaps worse!?)

Has the n80 got better fuctions? and what do you recon of the nokia n80s on eBay, is it a scam as they arent even being made yet (well i dont think so anyway)

        Any replies will be appreciated

        Grant

If all you care about is the camera, you would be wasting a LOT of money buying the N80... it has so many other features which u wouldn't use..

For al of you who obviously prefer speculating about a future phone's abbilities should consider waiting until the final version get's reviewed!? Some people tend to believe this predicted crap heap of unconsiuos info might be true...

Yeah the photos on movile-review were taken with a fri*kkin prototype! The camera on the fully released n80 will be a lot clearer... oh and vip-electronics.com is a complete scam. They ask you to pay through wester*n unio*n. It is probably the same people as mobile-world-inc.com were, but they got shutdown so this is their new site :\

"Thats true Joergen. But i meant, that the N80 with its 3.0 mp cam Isnt therefor always better because its 3.0 in stead of 2.0."

Then what exactly are you saying? We know thats not the case with N80 as it has a better lens AND takes better pictures compared to N70. YOU said that N70 could take BETTER pix than N80 (because of the lens) which isn't true at all. It's rather the other way around. And now all of sudden youre talking about megapixels?

"Also I looked at the photos taken with the N80 test model used by Mobile-Review. And i must say i prefer the photo's taken by for instance, the K750i. Also it got autofocus and macro support."

The proto used by mobile-review was AGES old. You obviously havn't seen the sample pictures posted on my-symbian.com. It was taken with a october proto (in other words VERY old as well) But the pictures was WAYS better and alot sharper.

"Though its not the final version of the N80, i dont think the quality will improve on there final one."

That's just silly. Of course it will. It proves how much you know about prototype phones. For example... one of the N91 protos still has 6630's camera! It ALWAYS improves. Just check my-symbian.com for the newer N80 pictures. You have profe it improves right there.

I told all of you this Phone Is Simply Over-Hyped...

                    Misconceptions:
                    -N80 3mp Camera is poorer than N70/SE K750i
-N80 lens is relatively Poor quality
-N80 keypad lighting & ergonomics is Poor
-N80 battery is the Worst Ever by Nokia!
-N80 costs $500+ which is too expensive & doesn't justify its flaws

Rating 7/10 = Less than "Stellar"; better to but N92/E70 or Sharp 903

But as i pointed out as well. I don't buy a phone for its cam, but for its quality and functions. and its looks :D

To those (like Joe) who say the camera of the N80 is inferior to f.ex. N70: You say that because N80 uses a cmos censor and N70 ccd, N70 is better, because ccd is better than cmos.
I googled and found an article "ccd vs. cmos" with this sentence: "As a result, you can find CCDs in low-cost low-power cellphone cameras and CMOS sensors in high-performance professional and industrial cameras, directly contradicting the early stereotypes."
But they also write that one cannot say one is better than the other. They have each strengths and weaknesses. So, it seems that the cmos sensor in N80 doesn't have to be a weakness as posted here.
                        Link to the article: http://www.dalsa.com/markets/ccd_vs_cmos.asp

The Megapixels are size of images that it can capture ,not the quality of pictures.
What detemines the quality of pictures taken with the camera are the lens/optics.

As an employee of O2 i can tell u the phone will be available before april, I cant give a specific date for obvious reasons. all I can say is that both the N80 and N91 will be available in silver.
I Personally like the black more.
When i get more info I'll post it.

Most of the time a phone gets available unlocked before it'll be available with a provider lock on it.
