You enter *#06# on the phones keypad and then it will display the phones IMEI number. The GPS function you can purches on the phone it self, U must pay in dollars to unlock the navigation part.

KCostas, 15 Sep 2008Like on the PC when you install something on the memory car... morewhen you install apps in memory card, the internal memory also install its REGISTER FILES.
and when you delete the apps
the register files won't be deleted so that when you want to install the apps again,it will install faster although it will filled up the internal memory

Rajesh, 13 Sep 2008I am not sure where all my phone memory has gone??? It a... moreLike on the PC when you install something on the memory card, some files are installed in the phone memory to let the software working, and of course some files are left behind when you uninstall. If you download smth with the build in brouser but then quit the application without using what you have downloaded it stays in you phone memory in some temporary folder. The only way for me so far to clean the memory is formating it. Turn off the phone, keep pressed green (call) button with 3 and * simultaneously turning the phone on. When you see the phone starts release the buttons. When your phone boots up you gonna see it like it was from the box. But some applications that came preinstalled may be deleted as well,so make sure you have them to install later. Programs installed on the memory card wont work any more, couse as i mentioned they have some files in the phone memory that you deleted by reseting the handset, so i recomend to format the memory card as well using the phone but not the Pc. Don't use the nokia pc suit to back up your data, couse you are going to fill the phone with the same things you are trying to get rid off. If you format you card via pc choose the FAT file system instead of NTFS that your computer uses, otherwise the phone wont see you memory card.
              Hope that helps.

get the n81 8gb rather than n81 with microsd slot. n81 8gb has no memory problems like most of you are posting.

yeah.. where does the memory go ?? I noticed that whenever I install themes on my N81 the internal memory is reduced even if I choosed to install it on the memory card..

at first I thought that wen I delete the theme on the memory card the internal memory will be back ,but it doesnt...

I also noticed that all the themes I inserted on the fone is automatically logged on the application manager...

you can try it >go to application manager >then press options >then view log

you will see all the things you installed on your fone, and it cannot be deleted

I think it's consuming the internal memory..

the queston is how can we delete files ppermanently..

ah thanks alot i got it working. Another issue i'm having is with the flash player. If i try to play a flash file any bigger than 1.2mb it tells me it's unable play because there is not enough memory. i have 2 gigs free on the memory card as well as 6mb free on the phone
