It sounds like they gave you a faulty phone, take it back and demand a new one. For the navi-wheel to work in Contacts and Messaging you need to update your N81's firmware to V20.

Hi there,its definetly worth it. Its competitors are: SAMSUNG i450, Sony Ericsson W910 and Sony Ericsson W960. The N81 is better than ALL of them and its been proven in many tests and reviews. Its great for watching movies on, i watch some Podcasts of tv shows that ive missed and i even load some movies for when i travel. It plays videos at 30FPS very well, especialy in CorePlayer app. Go for it.

I am now planning to have n81 8GB, as i know it comes at 15k these days.
I want to know is it worth buying it at this price.
Aslo are there any other competitors of it ?
how is the movie watching exp. in it is the screen size comfortable, n at 30fps is the video playback speed comfortable?

And about the navi wheel, it works only in the gallery, music player. Can't i make it work in other place.

Hi all, theres a great app at IPMART called MagicKey. Its a great app for all N81, N95, N95-8GB, and N96 users. Since these 4devices are the proper Multimedia Devices of the Nseries they offer Multimedia and Gaming keys, so what MagicKey does is help re-map these keys in different apps eg: let you use the Music keys on N95 as Ngage Gaming keys as well. Im able to play even non-Ngage games with the gaming keys in landscape on my N81, im also able to use the Music and Gaming keys in portrait or landscape in the Web browser to manage and navigate a web page, as well as use the Music keys as extra gaming,texting,browsing, etc. . .keys. This means you will hardly ever have to slide out the keypad unless you need to dial a number or write a long text message, you can use the N81 in closed mode nearly everything with this app. Thats what makes slider phones so much better than average candy bar mid-ends. Look for this app: MagicKey.

i have just bought this phone n81 8gb
it is working very nice, very thing work like it should, the sound quality is great, everything is great
EXCEPT when i slide the phone and open it, and reslide it it turn off, what shall i do!!! plz help

N81 isnt the Best Phone in the World, it isnt even the King of its Price Range
it lacks a few important things..

To those people planning to buy N81, pls hold your nerve. Don't buy N81. If you can shed a few bucks more for extra useful features like better camera, better video, better music experience, GPS, HSDPA, better battery life and better software, then buy N78. It's really worth it.

N81 does not sell in my country even when it was first released. And now, people are stirred with 6220c and N78. They have completely snobbed N81. A phone without HSDPA is completely an outdated device and should be priced 150 euros if it has to sell a lot. Nobody wants to spend money for a phone that has no HSDPA at least when there are plenty of other options that have better specs that are almost in the same price range. If N81 is priced like 5700, then it will be the best-selling midrange phone ever. This phone costs so much more than 5700 because of wifi and cramped extra keys alone. The N78 pricing is much more reasonable knowing that it almost has everything. Well unless, you want to waste money anyone can always buy N81 if it's still available. But I don't see many N81's in stock in cellphone stores in my country anymore. I don't see a lot of people holding a N81 either. Because for N81's price, you can already buy a 5MP camera phone with DVD like video recording, has HSDPA, GPS, TV-out - 6220c. Or add a few bucks if you want an almost complete set - N78.

I am going to Buy a new phone ranging around 15000 and I have selected sony erricsson W760i for it ..... coz of it being.a walkman and a gaming phone.....is it really worth it.....please reply fast coz i have to buy a new phone......ar shoud i go far any other .......please suggest any other fone ......i dont want to have any business phone like of HTC or ASUS......any Nokia SOny OR MotoRola OR samsung Beat 450....

and que. to everyone ! is this true ? Nokia s... moreIm guessing the 8GB hasn't sold that much, the MicroSD must have sold a lot more because the N81-8gb was realy overpriced whereas the MicroSD was priced correctly for what you get.
I dont think the 8GB has been discontinued though.

APAC is Firmware for Asia. Yep its Louder. The EURO (EMEA) firmware contains the EU Volume Reduction whereas APAC doesn't, so APAC FW makes it louder.

and que. to everyone ! is this true ? Nokia stopped N81-8GB (not N81 2GB) ?? bcoz i asked to Nokia Autho. Dealer and they said. N81 8GB is not available anymore ??? huh ? why any idea ? are they gonna release new 8GB Phone ??? dont tell me N96 i m tired of waiting...

The keypad of N78 is better than N81 LMFAO!!! Ive tried a N78 and i know for a fact that its keys are worse than a N82. The N81 keys are flat but big and give great tactile feedback. The equaliser bands don't even matter, the N81 does not need so much equaliser editing. The ONLY thing that made N91 a little better is because it didnt have EU Volume Restriction, ive now got a N81 with APAC Firmware and its seriously loud, on par with a N91.
LOL! N81 keypad lighting uneven, mine is very even so what in the world are you talking about? Are you reading some test unit review and blabbing about it here? In that case get out of here you're a waste. :-) the N78s backlighting tends to shine through some edges aswel.
You Seem to be very ignorant, i bought the N81 in December, NOT ONLY FOR MUSIC its a great ALLROUND entertainment device with dedicated Multimedia keys BUT with an emphasis on Music, Gaming and Video, doesn't mean it can't do more. As a N81 owner for arounnd 9months now i see NO POINT in getting a N78, its not realy better its just got the poorest 3.2mp camera, an average GPS and ye HSDPA but most of us use Wi-Fi. So if i got a N78 i wouldnt gain much if anything at all. The N81 looks far better than a N78 MOST if not ALL agree with that. N81 is one of the best looking Nseries devices out. LOL 140g heavy? Whats wrong? Are you weak? The N81 is not heavy. Its also smooth. It maybe longer than a N95,but its thinner, and not as wide as a N95. Must be terrible to watch a movie on a N78, its so long, and the loudspeakers are poorly positioned in landscape, atleast i can simply close my N81, and il have the Multimedia keys (Rewind, Pause, Stop, FastForward right) right there and not have to use the dpad. :-)
