Tsepz, 14 Aug 2008No it's not a lot better :-) . LOL! The best 3.2mp camera!!... moreI like the design of N78 more than N81. N78 is thinner and a lot lighter in weight. The design is very elusive. And I like the look of the front view. It is very neat. You won't notice the alphanumeric labels when the backlight is turned off.
On the other hand, N81 maybe short when slide close, but when you slide it open, it appears to be a monster. It's very long, even longer than N95. And it's very heavy considering it's plastic all over. I would prefer the N78 keypad than N81. At least, N78 doesn't have a flat keypad. N81's keypad is actually harder to use. And the backlighting of the keypad is so uneven which spoils the design. Even the edges of the phone illuminates when the backlight turns on.

You turn off themes effect and compare the n81 and n78 ui. It's like comparing windows 2000 with windows vista! I don't see any point of buying N81 for a premium price. It's not even near close of n91's audio quality. The equalizer is only 5-band just like n7x.
N81 is the most boring of all current phones. You should not pay 400 euros just for music alone. No matter what angle you look at it, it's really not worth it. I can't even think why I come up with this idea of comparing N78 with N81. N81 is only a crippled version of N78. Pls don't buy N81 or else you're gonna regret it.

N78 looks like a pregnant frog....and its keypad is to small..
N81 is Ok but its still needs money spending on it

N81 or Samsung i450 or W760 or any other.....

The N78's camera lense and sensor is smaller than the sensor found in the 2mp SE K750, W800, W900 and P990, and is A LOT smaller than the N73, K800 and K810's, images taken by N73 and K810 look FAR better, so NO. ACTUALY the N78 is using the cheapest 3.2mp camera unit, with a 4.6mm focal length its quality is nearly as poor as the N80 3mp fixed focus camera. Like i said the N78 has average things thrown in to it, its just a mixed bag made for any average joe that wants an all in one package for a low price. The N81 is a niche device aimed specificaly at an audience that dont need GPS, and dont care for a high MP camera, but want a Smartphone that combines High Audio Quality withan amazing sonic experience, great Ngage Gaming in landscape, good Movie player and amazing internet capabilities. Like i said in terms of entertainment the N81 and N78 are not realy different if at all, the N78's camera is very average for a 3.2mp. The N81 with the V20 FW is very similar to a N78 in UI, realy not much seperating these two. Rather get a N82 if you dont like a N81 or vice versa.

It seems so,but yes the N81 is more bassy and is slightly louder. Its got an amazing treble/bass balance.

I have been using this phone for about a month now, and I simply adore it....
Iloved the 2.4inch 16M LCD, beside that I love the web browising experience and the music is great too. I do agree with the review of gsm guys that the only flaw in this phone is the camera, which is reasonable for a 2M and the keypad, otherwise its fun using this phone.

Very biased opinion it is to say that N81 and N78 don't differ much in image quality but only in image resolution. N81 has the worst 2MP camera from a Symbian phone. N78 has the best 3.2MP camera backed up by a professional optics and lens, from a Symbian phone. And you will say they don't differ much? Then I would say, an average person wouldn't hear much difference in audio quality between N81 and N78! It's very much easier to spot the difference in image quality than audio quality. N81 should've been named N7x and N78 has all the rights to be an N8x. Anyways, that's just labelling. What matters most is N78 is clearly a lot better than N81 in every aspect.

items 1 & 2 - are they applications included upon having installed N-Gage on my memory card? if not,what are they & can i delete dem?

items 7 & 8 - what are they?can dey b deleted?

if you would notice, above applications only indicates kb size. so how can my phone mem details show 16mb mem in use and 8650kb free memory, wid only 742b - calendar, 71kb contacts, and 180b - documents? mesages,image,sound files & video clips show 0.

Fact is the N81 is the current Ngage and Music Flagship Nseries so it deserves to be a N8x. Whereas the N78 is just a mid-range where they threw in a lot of average things the FM Transmiter being the only big feature and they made the UI look good. NOKIA no exactly what they're doing.

Clear your web browsers cache, move Messages to memory card and make sure nothing is installed on the internal mem.

You can buy a cheap 8GB (or maybe 16GB if available) microSD cards to substitute for the 8GB flash memory in N81 8GB.

hi guys! i am an owner of an N81 2gb. i only bought a couple of weeks back but am now thinking of selling it again or swapping it with a N81 8gb. d reason 4 such is due to d small phone (internal) memory that d 2gb has.so far, i have not installed anything on its internal memory but d memory details indicate dat i have used 16mb out of its 18mb internal memory.i checked on d app mgr 4 possible applications installed but only found small sized app wid only kb in size installed on it.i have also deleted all files that is being shown on d file mgr but to no avail of freeing more memory. can anyone pls help by suggesting on possible ways on freeing my internal memory and can anyone pls advise if it wud be better to swap my N81 2gb wid an N81 8gb? Please anyone?

But the fact still remains that N81's sound quality is a lot better than N78, though N78 has a better camera.
Honestly, I tried N78 and didn't notice much difference except for the size of the photo.
That's my opinion, and you have yours, I respect that :)

omer, 12 Aug 2008whats Navi wheel interface ? plz explainits kinda like ipod scrool wheel. in music player, gallery and some other apps, you can spin your finger round the dpad like an ipod and it moves around. alot handy when you put alot of music into your phone.

N81 is the worst nseries phone. Doesn't have the right to be in the N8x line. The N78 is a lot more qualified to be a N8x than this phone.
