At first look, the N82 doesn't look good and looks very bulky. But when you hold it with your hand it looks okay.
Yes, the number keys are small which is unusual for the nseries and other nokia phones as well. Some of the keys especially if you're a Nokia user is changed in their order which may be confusing at first.But you'll get the hang of it when you've used it for about an hour or two.
Backlight is not that strong unlike to other Nokia phones, especially on the edges of the keys which is quite dim.
But the 5mp camera and xenon flash is outstanding! Pictures taken whether indoors or outdoors are very nice. Overall, thisi is a good phone especially if you're open for some changes than the usual.

The SE G900 lacks Xenon flash.
The Samsung G810 has Xenon and Optical Zoom but it shoots video in VGA 22fps versus N82 @ 30 fps. Also, fact remains that the N82 flash really outdoes the competition and furthermore, G810 picture loses quality even with the optical zoom (per gsmarena anyway)!
If you want a photo-centric phone, I suggest going for the N82. Its the best bang for the buck right now, especially in that department.

Since i have run test and make the compare between N82 and SonyEricsson K850i....which
found out what & when ever capture the picture in outdoor, indoor or using xenon flash, the picture that K850i was handle it as well and better than Nokia N82...it's true.

yeah your right, the titanium color n82 looks like cheap scrap metal. i'm still waiting for the black one as well. There is no way i would buy the titanium one unless they drop the price down to like 200 or less. rumor has it that the black n82 will go for 600 or more. that's insane, you will have to pay over 200 bucks extra just for black paint.

Yea, you could be right,
Maybe the reason the black version was delayed is because they are calling back all the silver versions and switching bodies.
But, why wouldn't Nokia simply release the black version on launch?!? I've been waiting for the black version since the N82 has been announced (Like many others) and I just can't seem to understand it.
The titanium color is pretty femenine, and I think the only man who would buy it would have to be a homo.
Cumon Nokia, stop catering to the Fa**ots!

awesome phone, has everything, works well and easy to use keypad.
slight delay when reading from MicroSD.

I have been waiting from last nov on the black n82! what gives?....why are they making us wait so long...i think i will get the silver one becasue by the time the black comes and waiting for price drop it will be a one year old phone!

there is a fire sale for the n82 now. price is now down to like 465 at Storm Computer inc. amazon has it for 499. i guess it looks like their trying to dump all the existing n82 and make room for the black one.

hey man,i think the problem is in your card,if possible,just copy the important file to your computer,and format the card,try to not install a lot of software into the card next time,or even your handset next time, some software may take you handset memories even that you are no using it.if probelm still continue,you have no choice to sent to the service centre to reset fimeware or upgrade firmware.

So frustrated -- Episode 2: consolated.
Well, finally all is back to order as the Nokia customer service facility finally accepted that I return the n82 and get my refund. I was really worried as both the online support and the call center were ignoring me or just refusing the return. Obviously we're not yet at the age of efficient phone or web support, that's for sure !
Anyway I can start again my quest for the phone that will fulfill my needs.
So here is what was wrong with this purchase of the N82:
1- I decided to buy it after making a phone feature comparison on the Nokia Europe/UK website. Selecting my requirements (GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth, camera) I finally ended-up selecting the N82
2- reading first a few reviews to be sure, I confirmed my choice and was left with the feeling that, being the promising next big hit after the N73, this phone would include all the features of the N73, especially the possibility to type SMS from a computer thru Bluetooth, and the most expected business card scanner
3- finding a good deal at Best-Buy, I finally bought-it after spending a few hours comparing it with the N95 and talking to Best-Buy staff
4- once home, problems start: no way to find neither the Wifi connection wizard, nor the business card scanner (there is a bar-code scanner though, that can decode business cards which have it printed, but the feature is far away from the N73 business card scanner that was able to OCR the card and put in all arranged in your contacts)
5- pushing a little further, no way to write SMS in the Nokia Lifeblog application: it's really impossible to type sms with this phoneset as a) buttons are really small b) the letters above the buttons are microscopic and c) the stainless-steel
face is brighter than the letters in daylight, so the PC feature is a must at work
On the positive note, I could download many maps (thru the night at it was quite slow) of the world (France, London, NY, SF, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong-kong, which left me 500 MB free on my 2 GB card) and got the GPS to work exactly as expected, giving me position, maps, routes and turn-to-turn voice and screen directions during the 1st 3 trial days of the service (after the 3 days, I could still use the maps, get the position with standalone GPS or network-using AGPS, find routes, but could not have the turn-to-turn real-time voice and screen direction until I pay the year, month or week fee).
But whatever, buying a Wifi phone that has no wifi was not acceptable for me.
After a little bit of research, I found out: according to one post on the net, Wifi is forbidden on cell phones sold in this country! well, I've no problem with that, every country can have its own laws. But what was not acceptable to me is that the only feature comparator available on Nokia websites selects the N82 based on the Wifi requirement, and does not mention at all that it is a country specific feature !
So you end-up selecting a phone for a feature that will not be in the same model you buy.
You could argue that the Best-Buy Shanghai staff could have mentioned that there is no Wifi, but according to a few reviews I read on Best-Buy it's something you can not expect ...
My conclusion: Nokia customer service was understanding, after insisting a little, and accepted the return, so finally no issue on that side (and the personnel was really charming, not like the call-center ones).
However, if Nokia really want to make a great phone experience (and service), they need to change quite a few things:
- stop removing great features from a phone to its successor: a) business cards scanner of the N73, is awsome, just keep it! b) ability to send SMS from the PC software
- provide a global feature comparison website that clearly mentions what is or not available in the countries: not only people buying from Europe need that
- create a real on-line global support service with customer caring agents who find solutions for the customers in place of their current agents who just send standard e-mails: people who buy high-end phone with GPS ... travel and need support on the go
So what will be my next phone now ? With my requirements:
- great camera (with optical zoom would be even better than the N82)
- GPS
- bluetooth & wifi
- business cards scanner
- send SMS from PC
- not Windows, please !
Maybe a Nokia, but which one ??? Any other suggestions ?

sales for the current ugly titanium color n82 sunk like the titanic after they announced the black one. they're probably taking apart all of the existing titanium color n82 and replacing it with black covers.

ok for those of u who keeps saying the keypad is terrible and the phone itself is useless, let me ask u one thing, have u really use it? I'v been using for nearly 3 months and i never problem with it, the keypad is comfortable after a short time of usage, the phone never hang, and it never slows down. By a long shot, this is the best mobile Nokia has ever produced. Cheers

ok im going back to nokia n82 from me k850i... i used to love sony ericson but well the k850i just let me down now.. and b4 it was then95 that let me down... but oh well cant wait no more for the black version of the n82 so jus cant wait till tuesday to get my n82! 1 question guys can you watch youtube videos on ur n82 & go onto facebook?

For those who still actually use the phone for making calls opposed to texting, the keypad is actually better. Its very easy to dial a number without even looking at the phone!

n82 a good phone... and the key pad is not that bad either. yah, it might not be that comfortable but you;ll get used to it...

Was about to buy the phone. But when i saw it in real, it is far too big for me. Why Nokia cannot make anything except heavy bricks ? I still like Nokia, so i will wait for the 6220 classic (only 90g !!)

jst bought dis fone 3 days bak frm SHARJAH,DUABI(U A E)for 1695 dhs = RS 18600(approx) ,, so here r mah views...
who says silver color is ugly,,, nope its not...its looks gud wid silver but offcorse not betta dan balck one..but i asked da store member , dey said dat da body can be changed to black one..
camera nd video 10/10
da fone is vry light...
nd sound quality , clear but nd as loud as n73....
da fone hangs while opening APPLICATIONS(even if its brand new) ...
rest da fone's osam...liked da fone..
overall 8/10...
