I truly believe the N82 is what Sony Ericcson wanted the K850 to be but didn't. I just went to Disneyland and SF this weekend and the pix were amazing. In some instances, outperforming my Sony W55 in nightshots. Video recording was excellent. The skin tone looked more realistic and not like the overexposure from the strong Xenon flash my old Canon Powershot had that gives you a tannish skin tone at night. I laugh at anyone when their iPhones and whatever random flip phone Americans love to adore. This phone is better in person than in pix (unlike the SE W960 which is vice-versa). I don't mind if my phone gets ignored because I know my phone is one of the most talented and versatile of them all even after my initial honeymoon period with it is over. Most happy N82 owners can vouch this. The price is decent too.

I notice that when I manually tune an FM station, it tends to skip or hesitate for a few seconds. I tend to save the dial just to avoid it. I also notice GPS eats up battery faster than I thought. I might not have a full day with it after I use it for 20 min with moderate use on other features. Also, if I punch the message icon on the homescreen, it goes back left & punches the contacts icon instead before opening up the text screen. A few quibbles, obviously. Plus, S60 can be a pain sorting thru files for a noob and the screen is rather small compared to the Viewty, iPhone, & N95... Hopefully, future firmware updates can remedy my complaints. Still, the good far outweighs the bad which are minor.

I have both units N73ME & N82. Yes, N73ME is much brighter but N82 is sharper. N82 displays the real color of your subject, thanks to 16M color display. I prefer N82's display simply because it's cool in the eye especially in dark rooms.

What matters most is the quality of the picture taken by N82, you can notice it when you will view it on your pc.

the two devices (n95 8gb and n82) have almost identical specifications. the only difference is that the n82 comes with xenon flash and motion sensor while the n95 8gb has a larger display. it's up to you to decide which feature do you need more.

                  oh and i almost forgot!

i (regrettably) was a bit clumsy this past week and managed to drop my n82 not once, but TWICE. the first time was onto a tile floor, and the second was outside onto concrete! both times i picked it up, looked it over, and to my surprise...i can't find any marks or scratches! i know lighter colored plastics are usually great at absorbing impact, but i am just so impressed with how the phone handled these two falls. i wouldn't recommend anyone testing this on purpose, but if any of you do accidentally drop yours, please share your experience, because mine was surprisingly positive!

@ fanboy (or PxxG since apparently you're not down to give yourself that name anymore)

i've been posting on gsmarena for over 3 years with nothing but honest attempts at helping others understand their mobiles better, and helping prospective buyers make educated decisions. you're the first who has ever questioned them, which there is nothing wrong with. however, after your questioning i simply responded with what i thought was an appropriate background in case you didn't know. however you seem more interested in stalking me and my posts than actually pursuing interest in either the N82 or any other phone. so this is the last post i will direct towards you, because i find it is the equivalent of trying to explain quantum physics to a child.

and to everyone else, sorry i had to waste ANY space on the N82 forum attempting to explain my honest and well-thought out opinions to someone more interested in word games, who is apparently no longer confident enough to even post under the same name. shame...

but it won't happen again! i'm back to simple devotion to the n82! so cheers to all owners and prospective owners who are considering this amazing mobile!

Use the phone finder in gsmarena.com. Select the topmost features like HSDPA, 5MP camera, weight less than 120g, GPS, WI-FI etc. Only N82 & of course the N95 fit into this category! Where are the other phones?

this is the best phone i have ever owned waited well over a month for it to be released on o2 in uk but the wait was well worth it. it is so easy to use the keypad looks fiddly but is a joy to use (and i have big hands. i would recommend this to anyone who is thinking about a k850i, g800, viewty etc. i have friends with them phones and they have all said the same "i should have waited" overall 10/10. even the battery lasts about 3-4 days with moderate use.

Fellow nokia brothers. I have encountered a problem with my n82. When plug my phone into my computer and set it to "data transfer". After transferring files, and unplugging it, it will lock up and eventually crash and reboot.

Does anyone know what is happening? Please email me.

Don't act as if you own the f***ing forum. If you don't want anyone to contradict your biased opinions then shut the hell up. Posters like you just messes up facts and won't help other users. Again, you don't own this forum or site so stop whining.

i think this phone is great!! well of course it depends on how you're going to use it! well as for me, i find this phone very usefull since i'm more on taking pictures than playing music files. now if you're having issues with wmp..i believe you need to get a walkman phone instead.. :)

                                    @ fanboy

totally understand what you're saying. but if you'll take the time to look back on the N82 pages, you'll see i am very much all for promoting the absolute and honest truth when it comes to these phones. you'll also notice i have never been terribly biased in any of my opinions. beyond that, i know many avid users/enthusiasts here know ALOT about many of these handsets, but i have been lucky enough to own every single one we discuss. i go through about 3-4 mobiles per month, write a short review on each, and re-sell via ebay. the experiences i share on gsmarena are all very true and i believe those who are interested in purchasing some of the more expensive units have been very thankful to have me share my opinions about them. it's total hearsay, it's a f***ing phone forum, not a court of law. don't act like a judge, this place is self governed. adjourned

The keys are fine. The pictures make the phone look ugly. It is a lot nicer in person.

I was looking at phones for a long time

K850i: Didn't pick it because the OS looked ugly. Too dark. Not my thing
N95 8gb: Too bulky. Wouldn't feel comfortable having it in my pocket. No Xenon flash.

Finally picked this phone and I don't regret it. I use text messages every day and I have no problems. You will get used to the keypad. First day I was slow then I got better.

I do love the design of the K850i more. However it had flaws such as crap OS and bad video recording.
