the nokia n82 is a very powerful phone i just got one the other day its not the usual slow nokia menu load and camera the new symbian system does wonders for it and the camera i can rank as the best on the camera phone markeet it beats the s/ericsson k850 and nokia n95 the only place it lacks is the optical zoom which it doesnt have compared to the samsung g800 the features are immense and the new ngage gaming experiance takes the cake it takes the graphics to a new level connectivity is great bluetooth,wifi but no irda port but it supports hsdpa and also sdhc so you can put memory cards upto 8 gigabytes depending on what the market has on offer the nokia maps has had an update although i would recommend you buy a gps software like route 66 mobile 7 nokia maps isnt to accurate and it comes with a trial voice version. the media controls are fantastic with slideshows and the 3D gallery is an impressive piece of tech .

      yo N95, G600 AND NOKIA boy!!!
      hey i got a Dopod 900 2gb with Crossbow update from XDA dev,samsung U700 2gb,moto v8 and n82 4gb-now that's putting your mouth where yo money is dude.
      its not,nay never, about who can afford what, my boy.
      its about the audacity of some peeps who loves throwing off a good product by giving out uncalled for remarks-almost always worthless strides of nonsense words, when they haven't even checked the spex, used the unit for a day, or could have used other products in the same class to come up with a credible comparison.
      besides if this is such the free internet forum that you're saying, then why are stopping me from posting my own opinion,tech guru??!!

          Just a general question...is it proven that the "made in Finland" phones' quality is better than the "made by Nokia" ones...or is it just a rumor? Thanks.

                Thanks so much for the feedback. The reason was as you said poor file transfer and coding. I have reformated the memory card 6gb. Reinstalled mp3 files only and they are crystal clear. So certainly not a hardware issue or firmware.
                Cheers.

                  To Phone_Addict,

                  Thanks for this information. I did what you suggested and downloaded the requirements you advised, and yes my GPS works properly now. As for the voice navigation, I knew we'd have to pay for this added feature as when I had the Nokia N95 I had to pay for it also grrr, it only comes free with the Nokia 6110 Navigator, as I also had this mobile as well but wanted to go back to Nseries, this why I went the Nokia N82 as it's offering everything I want in a mobile. This is a supurb mobile and I'm really happy with my purchase.

                  Thanks so much for your help.

                        hi mallah, yes the N82 does have the option to change the font and icon size. This can be accessed in Tools > Settings >
                        General > Personalisation > Font Size.

                            by the way, for those of you interested the CoPilot Live 6 | Symbian S60 (3rd Edition)is compatible wth N82. A far better option than Nokia's own maps and no extra charge for voice navigation or updates, after the initial outlay of the software £73.25 0n amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/CoPilot-Live-Software-Nokia-Symbian/dp/B000QU1242/ref=pd_sbs_ce?ie=UTF8&qid=1198873287&sr=1-1

                                    @oliver
                                    the distortion you're getting coudl be caused by faulty file transfer or corrupted mp3 file.
                                    can;t think of any reason why you'd be getting those bad sounds during playback.
                                    you could first play your mp3s on your pc with a normal speaker set, check if they show the same behavior.
                                    if you're sure they are all good copies, then delete all mp3 files off of your memcard and re copy them all makin sure this time that you put your phone to offline mode to make sure you don't get any distractions while copyin those audios to your unit.
                                    if the same thing happens...download and install any free mp3 client over the net and try playing your files using the 3rd party player.
                                    if still the same thing, try using a different headset or better yet play them using the loudspeaker...
                                    same thing?? reflash your phone's OS...
                                    same thing??have it replaced this early, its gotta be the audio card or somthing about the board of your phone that's gone really bad...

                                      @ranil :
                                      yo compadre...you are one sad soul with an unhappy childhood man...kiddin -lmao.
                                      you dare compare SLRs/digicam with the pic quality of a point and shoot camphone? werja get the idea to do so?of course there's no comparison, its what they're built for-shoot crisp clear photos,if they suc(k)doin that then maybe they aint got reason to be at the shelf, ryt?
                                      but lemme ride ur train of thoughts on this, the optical lens on a camphone such as n82's is quite small as compared to those of SLR's/DC's, that's probably the reason why you're showing some minor(!)barely noticeable darkening effects on your pics- haven't given any care for those though.as far as im concerned, the pic quality of my n82 doesn't even show any inconsistencies over the edges or anywhere at all in my pics.
                                      they're great as they are, and im still into reality that these pics were taken by a camphone.and i know for one that camphones, no matter what level of megapixels they are, cannot compete with the clarity and shadow detail of a direct-viewed optical SLR viewfinder cam.
                                      there u go.
                                      if i were u, id go to any nearby nokia care center, ask if the same goes with other units, if not, you could exchange yours or probably reflash the OS,could be some software bug in your unit.
                                      best said, n82's is the closest ever to having a morphed digicam cum mobile phone cum internet browser cum organizer cum entertaintment unit.
                                      not satisfied? ho humm...

                                        hi everyone. Have a nokia n82 love the phone. just one question. Does anyone have problems with the mp3 player reception? I get distortion
                                        when listening to music. And wav files distort realyy badly.
                                        Any advice would be great.
