Nokia N82 camera review and comparison to K850!

How funny sony ganboys are, K850 is pure crap compared to N82 in terms of camera, flash and overall functionality!

how's the music? y thr's 2 speakers only on 1 side of the fon? izit stereo enuf? how's the quality of the case?besides tis, i think the other features r superb!! guys jz help me ans those quest k

can anyone help, im thinking twice to buy this one
but still the battery is still poor, like n-95 which is a big flop, and many dissappointed in 6300 battery too, and also is this also heats up the battery

the camera speed is too slow compared to the lg viewty and se k850i, hopes the next firmware would include a faster shutter and the option to off the annoying red autofocus assist lamp....

ei nokia why dont you try to improve your battery pack, every phone you made have a little improvements but the battery is still crap

Nokia envisions a future (hopefully a short-term future) where our mobile phones will be able record video in full HD-quality. It’s going to be a few years, but we should be sufficiently distracted with higher-megapixel cameras and ever faster data connection in the meantime - dare I mention ever more innovative UI’s?

Technically, we are a couple of years away,” Nokia’s Chief Technology Officer Tero Ojanpera told Reuters in an interview. “It’s still a few years away.” And, with Nokia’s ability to crank out high-tech handsets out of Espoo like none-other, there’s no doubt that we’ll be seeing some sort of HD recording through Carl Zeiss optics.
If not Nokia, then another manufacturer is bound to eventually bring HD-quality video recording to market. We may soon be using HDTV-lingo while shopping for our mobile phones. What’s that? You want a phone with an 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, broadband-killing wireless data, GPS, and a 720p HD video camera? No problem, just grab your checkbook.

Stop quarreling around dudes.. no point of shitting on others faces. Se are good but nokia is just better. I owned a p990i and that phone worked really well after i upgraded it to the latest firmware. Now i owned this piece and i was surprised with its performance. I really needed a super fast phone which contains everything i need. In spec wise this phone is unbeatable. I don't know any other SE phone to beat this up in that matter. However battery life really sux.. And to be honest it the operating system really sux too. I hate this operating system even there are loads of applications that runs on it.
However if you really consider that you need a super fast phone. i'd recommend this piece as i'm pleased with it. This phone is ok.. xenon flash isn't a big deal for me. I aint going around and shooting pictures all day and all night. No phone can be comparable with real cameras.
I still like SE. I'm an SE fan. But i'm so dissapointed these days since they are not providing a good competition with nokia. Still they haven't got 10 million color screen.
And yeah i use my buletooth headset (HBH-DS970)and it provides good music to my ears. very nice phone if you want an all in one device. I don't use a k850 but i don't think still images can be greater than k850 on this.
However i want to say this is a good phone. web browsing is really nice. it never slows down. I have been using this phone about 3 weeks now but still it hasn't got freeze. if it was p990i i t has been stuck at least five or 6 time by now. Very good phone. Nice sexy and cool!!

After reading a review of the N82 first impressions its sounds a good mobile indeed,but on www.mobile-review.com they have no full review yet of the battery life an the camera on the N82,it should be made available soon in the U.k networks an might try it out as a upgrade to see if it as good as my N95-3 i have,so i will keep looking now for some full reviews of the N82 now,but as soon as xmas will be over the new batch of mobiles might be available for 2008,as that what usually happens at the end an begin of every year the new releases are shown but you miss out be signing up for the first one like the N82 as its available,Nokia will also be releasing an improved version of the N82 in about 2-3 months have they have done this to the last two mobiles i had the N73 an N95

He just praised quality, that's all, SE can't built a real all-in-one cell phone so he went to Nokia to get the best!

This phone's build quality is indead fantastic, camera great, browser superb, battery life is....OK!
If you hesitate between K850 and this, well look no further.
I'm a Sony Ericsson man but this Nokia beats them all.

Could someone please tell me how bad the battery life really is? Can I at least get 2 and a half hours of talk time?
I am down to either buying N82 or Samsung G600. The only thing stopping me from getting this phone is battery life. HOW BAD IS IT REALLY?

i got it from an authorized nokia dealer in greenhills. they gave it to me cheaper because i paid cash (P26700 otherwise). i havent checked where its made, but its the officially released localized version that has tagalog as one of the languages. i was told by nokia care that this is an advantage for the warranty because its proof that i bought it here.
i forgot to add on my first impressions that the build quality of this phone is the best ever from a nokia thats all plastic. not a single creak anywhere on the phone. ive now owned nine phones and this is the first time i got such a flawless phone. battery life is quite good too for something so fast with such a crisp display. its way better than the n95-1 and equal to the 8gb version since the bigger display consumes a lot more power. for those looking into a n95-2 or k850i, i suggest you seriously look into this first in real life. the actual product blows away any ideas youve gotten from pics or impressions from the internet. and trust me, the titanium is sweet. a white or black version would just look identical to the n73, get this unique color design instead.

for now its expensive but few months from now, it will go down fast, because nokia can make this phone mediocre if they release another phone better than this
nokia always compete its own products, they just release both the n-95 8gb and n82, and seems both of their phone competing each other

I'm surprised why keypad looks like that of N91 Nokia you should not copy your own design SE (sucking Ericsson) can copy N91's Keypad but you should not copy your own design

Anyone wonder why this phone is installed with S60 R3.1 instead of R3.3?
Shouldn't be the latest phone comes with latest OS?
And I wonder why the keypad looks like SE, not to mention the xenon flash.
Has Nokia and SE came to a compromise or was it just me? Looks like N82 and SE850 are twins huh?

Currently I'm more inclined with the N82.
ok the screen is smaller. and the batterylife is less.
I've been a fan of nokia since the very first 2110 old lcd candy bar type, back in the early 90's. I have had many devices since then and used different brands.
I currenty have the N80 and E61i so for me the N82 screen is in the middle.
Camera is a nice function and ideally the camera on a phone is typically used for point and shoot when a DSLR or dedicated camera is unavailable. The flash on this thing is amazing I've seen pictures taken in the dark with this. its perfect for that.
The dedicated music buttons on the N95 is a nice feature but its more buttons to look for. slide this and get this.
To me the N82 is more of a convienient phone. I liked the N80 when it came out but the only thing it didnt have in my eyes was the A2DP. I was able to live with the battery life and slide but now as an all in one phone the N82 seems to be the better choice. I've read the software is more stable than of all 1st time symbian release. so N82 it is!

Well, with all the listed features, no doubt its another fantastic fone, hope the battery that comes with it is enough to withstand at least a day and half with heavy use.. and, oh. hope this baby will also come in black in the near feature. White phones easily gets dirty and old..

N95 8GB vs. N82, What to get?
Recently many have been torn between the N95 8GB and N82 and honestly I can’t blame them. Choosing the right one seems a lot more difficult than what I originally imagined. I wish I could have this one definitive answer and be done with this post in just two lines, but alas I can’t. As always Nokia doesn’t make “the perfect phone”, instead they give one or two of their devices almost everything you could want and then gives to each one or two unique features. In the end it seems like they want you to buy all of them to get all features, but that wouldn’t be very smart. The idea behind this post is not to tell you whether you should buy the N95 8GB or the N82, but rather explorer the pros and cons and based on that let you make your own decision. To aid our quest for the right phone I made this table indicating the difference between the two.

I’ll start with the obvious. I know some of you only want sliders, while others swear by monoblocks (candy bar). If you exclusively want a slider, your search has ended here as the N95 8GB has that form factor for you. If you’re more of the candy bar type you should go with the N82. But since a lot of us look more then the form factor alone let’s continue analyzing the differences. In the table I created the items marked green are positive, the red items are seen as negative or a feature that is lacking. Features that are marked in yellow are features that are seen as subjective matter, as these can be seen as good thing or not depending on the user.
N95vsn82screen_3 Screen: The N95 8GB has a 2.8” while the N82 has the 2.4” screen. It doesn’t seem like a lot on paper, but consider that even compared against the the classic N95’s 2.6” the N95 8GB's screen looks huge. People prefer bigger screen, the N95 8GB has the clear advantage here.
Storage: This is one of the most discussed differences. Some argue that N82 has an advantage here because it can quickly swap out cards. It’s also no secret that the Nseries devices have a slow USB 2.0 transfer speed, the N82’s advantage comes from the fact that you can take out the card and use a card reader to transfer your data a lot more quickly. Another advantage we can point out is that it’s quite future-proof: the N82 is microSDHC compatible and should be able to support 8 and even 16GB microSD cards. On the other the N95 8GB comes standard with 8GB of storage, no extra purchases necessary, take it out of the box and you have 8GB of built-in memory. While the N82 comes with a 2GB card, buying a Sandisk 8GB card will set you back another $140. Thinking about this matter I would also like to point out that by the time the 8GB in the N95 8GB becomes obsolete most power users would have already moved on to the next best Nseries. There’s no clear winner here, I’ll leave this for you to decide. It’s either convenience (N95 8GB) or future-proof (N82).
N82vsn958gbdedkeys Dedicated Music controls: Music is a big part of the Nseries. Being the smartphones that they are, both the N95 8GB and the N82 are capable of multi-tasking. This means that you could be playing your favorite tune or podcast in the background while performing other tasks. Lacking music keys means that you have to “minimize” what you’re doing to control your music. The N95 8GB's dedicated muisc keys allows you to controls your music while performing other tasks like playing N-Gage games. Another win for the N95 8GB.
N82 Xenon vs n95 8 Led flash: The N95 8GB’s puny LED flash is no match for the Xenon flash of the N82. The N82 clearly has the upper hand here.
Camera cover: The N82 has in fact 2 lens covers: the external on that opens to activate the camera and a clear cover just in front of the lens. The N95 8GB only has the clear cover. If you scratch the N95 8GB’s clear cover you won’t damage the lens, but these scratches will directly affect the images. Another win for the N82.
Irda port: Many people use the good ol’ Irda port; it’s still very popular among businessmen, so why remove such a feature? The Irda port might be a bit dated, but there are many uses for this trusty old port like Psiloc’s Total irRemote.
Like I said in the beginning it doesn’t make any sense to declare one of these devices the overall winner as potential buyers have different priorities. But one thing is for sure, if taking the best images (especially in low-light) is your number one priority, I would recommend the N82. Personally I would choose the N95 8GB because of the giant screen, the looks and music controls.
