I've got a chance to play with N85 in a mobile phone store here in Singapore. I used to like N85 ever since it was announced because I thought it would be a great music phone with N95-ish resemblance, BUT, I was wrong. This phone is just an enhanced version of N95, and NOT the successor of N81. Sound quality through 3.5mm jack is nowhere near N81. This is not a music phone. It is just a jack of all trades, master of none device. Camera quality, both stills and videos, is worse than N95. Sound quality via headset and speakers is too far behind N81. Probably the only noticeable good thing about N85 is the screen and battery life. But in everything else, N95 still beats it in performance.

From my experience with the phone after 2 weeks, Camera quality :
good light, landscape, no flash = good photo
good light, macro, no flash = good photo
low light, landscape, no flash = noisy photo
low light, macro, no flash = noisy photo
low light, landscape, flash = blurish and noisy photo
low light, macro, flash = ok photo but too dark on the edges

if dis phone had a higher res.. screen and was made of metal it would be a killer beast!!
then it will be 10 out of 10 for a non touch phone!!

N85-1, N85-2, N85-3, N85 NAM?
Should I wait the N85 NAM?
I'm trying to buy one thru the internet

N79 won't have more publicity because N79 is just the 3230 of 2008. It's a midrange phone for budget conscious people.
N85 is ranked as a higher midrange handset.
N85 has better sound quality than N79, N82, and N95 but worse sound quality than N96, N81 and N91.
N85 is the revamped version of N95. It's not the successor of N81, because N81 focuses on music and gaming. N85 is a better version of N95 minus the dual CPU and 3D graphics chip.
As for the design, I have to disagree. Certainly N85 looks more decent and better than N79. N79 looks like a fashion accessory. Candybar design is always boring.
Made in China, Made in Hungary and Made in Finland are all the same. They have the same hardware and software. The only difference is from what country they were assembled. Made in China is the most abundant because Nokia's largest factory is located in China.
