True. Nokia havent really focused much on n-series this year, but the other nokia phones are doing a lot better e71, e66, 6210n, 6220c,etc.
The strategy that nokia is using is to equip non n-series smartphones with a vast amount of strong features for the mass market like 5800xm since they sell more than the n-series anyway. Due to this, nokia have chosen not to release as many smart phones as they did last year so as not to completely destroy the current n-series lineup.
About the 8mp, true. Nokia have delayed which is rather unusual, not to mention disappointing. But i wouldnt get innov8 just yet. I remember an article that gsmarena posted late last year about a court order patenting a nokia device having 6 or 8mp (most likely 8mp) with a rotating camera on the top with xenon flash. Does anyone else remember?
Now with the rumors of an unnanounced nokia phone with 5x optical zoom, i think this could actually be the phone. (its the only way i can see a phone having optical zoom).
Just my thoughts here. Only time will tell.

i agree. n85 is just an improved version f n95. only minor details are separating this phone from n95. if only the audio quality was the same as n81, it would've been better.

Based on the spec, it just that N95 classic with slimmer body and new OLED screen only... It juz doesn't live up to its price tag of 27,299Rs (550 US dollar). Its juz too expensive unless we wait for the price to come down abit

N96, N85 and N79 are quite disappointing products from Nokia. These are just more or less exact replicas of N95 8GB, N95 and N82. They don't differ much in terms of functionality. They are created to give customers plenty of options to choose from. So, Samsung is taking the lead this time with their all-in-one multimedia powerhouse Samsung INNOV8 and their touchscreen flagship device, Samsung OMNIA. Nokia loses to Samsung this time. I think Nokia should fire the engineers and designers who developed N96, N85 and N79. Nokia is always behind other mobile phone companies when it comes to innovation. APPLE which is not even a mobile phone company was the first to revolutionize touch based screen devices. And it took 2 long years for Nokia to create their iPhone version! Nokia is stuck with 5MP camera phones. While all other mobile phone companies have their 8MP camera phones already released in the market. Nokia is paying attention to lousy innovations that don't matter like DVB-H. Nobody needs it since its not yet widespread and I think it will take at least 5 more years to become fully available globally. N96 was released too late. 16GB cards is now available. N96 should've been released a year ago when news about 16GB cards was not yet flourishing so people would be excited about it.
Anyways, don't get me wrong. These are just my opinions and I believe everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion. And Nokia should listen to my opinion because I believe my opinion is right!
And don't get me wrong again. My remarks are constructive criticisms unlike most opinions here which are purely rubbish! Hahaha!
Nevertheless, I still love Nokia. And I'm still going to buy an N85 because I'm a Nokia fangirl. Hahaha!

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2008(copy from previous posts) It's so sad since Samsung Inn... morealso the battery life seems to be awful on the innov8, at least that's what i see on the comments.
so you shouldn't take that as a real advantage over the n85 and even the n96 =)

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2008(copy from previous posts) It's so sad since Samsung Inn... moreJBenchmark only tests performance for specific Java calculations. Synthetic Java benchmark shows nothing noteworthy regarding real processor performance.

Freescale I.MX31 is a much better platform than old and power hungry OMAP 2430. You can read it yourself too. Here:
                www.synchromeshcomputing.com/SynchromeshComputingFTF-Presentation-Benchmarking.ppt.

A standalone 3D accelerator has nothing to do with video recording, decoding and playback and photo processing. These are handled via Image and Video Accelerator found in the cpu or as another standalone chip. A standalone 3D accelerator isn't supported by most of the applications at all except by very limited number of Java games. N-gage games for Nokia do not support 3D accelerator.

Definitely N85>INNOV8 in terms of overall performance. INNOV8 is so bulky. I don't know much about N96 but I agree that INNOV8>N96.

What about sound quality in earphones of N85 compared to INNOV8? Does INNOV8 has dedicated sound processor?
