I am going to try the Samsung i8510 for 14 days to see if it can match the ease of the Nokia mobiles, but with this Superb phone being released by Nokia, i will have to really get the N85 i think instead if the i8510 is not up to sctratch, the N85 would have easily beaten the others for mobile of the year as it looks so classy, well done Nokia do not release the N96 because it will be no match for the N85

The 5700 processor may be faster when it comes to the user interface/navigating through the menus, but when it comes to multitasking and multimedia functions the n96 is better equipped because it has the duo processors.
Dont get me wrong. The 5700 processor is quite capable of handling multimedia functions without a problem. Its just that its processor doesnt have a backup processor like the n96.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970do u know what dual core cpu means? it does not mean that the 2 cpu will act simultaneously giving double speed.it means that one cpu acts as a back up.when one cpu gets exhausted the other one works. this type of cpu is usefull for running multiple programs at a time which exhausts the cpu. bt people who does not run multiple heavy programs at a time, for them a 369mhz cpu will work faster than a 264mhz cpu.

This phone is amazing. I think it will sell a lot of units. Why? It's feature-packed, a lot better than N95 and N95 8Gb, it's in a very high class dual slider form factor, it's got a very long battery life, it comes with 8Gb memory card already, and it's so much more affordable than any other high end phones. N85 will leave INNOV8 in the dust bin! This is so much better and more complete than INNOV8. And look at the price difference - INNOV8 is more than one half more expensive than N85 just for 8MP camera alone which is not just.

i cannot see any major differences between n79 and n85. their hardware platform and feature sets are completely identical. the n85 is like a n79 in dual slider form factor. in turn, the n79 is like a n85 in candybar form factor. n85 has a 2.6" amoled display, extra keys for multimedia and gaming controls, and usb charging. n79 has interchangeable xpresson covers. but both of them, n79 and n85, have the same feature sets: 5mp carl zeiss lens w/ af & dual led flash, vga 30fps video, hsdpa (n79 is dual band, n85 is triband), wifi w/ upnp, a-gps, s60 3rd fp2, ngage, fm transmitter, naviwheel, 3.5mm jack, tv-out, bluetooth w/ a2dp..
i, therefore, conclude that the gap between n79 and n85 is so small, if not there's nothing at all. unlike back in the n73-n93 days that the gap between those 2 phones are so huge. n79 can do virtually anything that n85 does. the buying decision will go this way: if i want a n85 in a more copact casing - candybar form factor, and more affordable, i'll choose the NOKIA N79. but if i want a larger screen, external hardware keys for music & gaming, and extra 8gb card in the box, i'll go for the more expensive NOKIA N85.
hats off to nokia for such a clever marketing strategy!!!

i don't know much about the technical specifications of the processors, but the couple of things i know are:
the freescale single chip processor of n85, n79, n78 and n81 scores higher in jbenchmark tests, and has faster clock rate.
the tiomap dual core processor of n95, n82, e90 has the advantage of handing separate multimedia and telephony functions and has 3d graphic acceleration.
the new nomadics stn8815 dual cpu of n96 scores the lowest in jbenchmark tests but offers high quality sound playback, better video processing algorithm and lower power consumption.

it would be nice if nokia will announce the official processor of N85 because mobile sites have different info about it, processors have been a big deal now a days as more and more people recognize its importancec",
