my god, what the hell nokia is doing, creating new and new and new phones with almost same function, i dont see any big difference with n95,n96,n81,n79,n85...
all the same! nothing new! i dont see reasons of buying another n-series if you have another n-series! no major upgrades since n95! this is stupid man! if you have n95 then its done buying another nokia! it stops there! what the f..ck ate you doing nokia??? common wake up! your going down!
and you says n-series are the so called "the all in one device" so why buy another n-series if you have n95??? this is all dumb idea from nokia. i wont be shocked if nokia fell behind SE,Samsung.

SE samsung,HTC and LG are now competing. these companys are competing against the great apple iphone 3G! NO nokia phone can compete with iphone! see this.

http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/patterson/16684

SE has the X1 completely new phone! the samsung has i900 omnia! HTC has touch diamond! and what does nokia have to put on the table agaist the best??? the n96??? common!!! thats funny!!!
give us something new!!!!!

the differences i see in n85 compared to n81 in design are:
    -slimmer, shorter, wider
    -the edges are more rounded
-the edges have the same color as the phone's front and rear surface as opposed to n81's brown/silver/blue trims
-the color is purple or black
-the surface is not glossy but somewhat matte finish
-the usb is placed on top alongside the 3.5mm jack and power button
-lock switch key is placed at the right side
-both speakers are placed at the top and bottom of the right side

*cannot comment about the build and construction.

      Positive:
      - Display 2.6 Inches
      - Battery Li-Ion 1200 mAh

      Negative:
      - Missed Xenon flash

And the specifications of the processor and SDRAM memory?

i dont think the n91 and n81 have the same audio chip. they both have a dedicated audio chip but i doubt if they share the same audio chip. i remember when the product manager of nokia nseries was interviewed at nokia go play in london on august 2007, he was asked if n81 would have the audio quality of n91 and he just said, "close to (the audio quality of) n91"... i'm just wondering why nokia doesnt put that very same dedicated audio installed in n91 into n85, n96 and other all-in-one devices... is the best audio quality only exclusive to n91???

Ktulu (N95 8GB), 01 Sep 2008Tell me 1 good reason, why this should beat the N95 8GB. '... moreThe n85 was not meant to be the n95 8gb successor. But apart from the screen, the n85 beats the n95 8gb on all fronts.
The n95 8gb is meant to be a flagship phone until n96 comes out. Its price has not dropped significantly and is still going for 550euros in many places.
The n85 is meant for the mass market and thats why its less expensive, even if it has more features.
About the audio/sound quality, we shal have to wait for the review. There are too many websites saying different things about it. Smape.com say the n85 and n79 have the same audio quality as n81. Mobilereview.com say n85 and n81 have the same audio quality, but that of the n79 is slightly lower. Another website (i cant remember the name) said both n85 and n79 dont have the same audio quality as the n81.
It would just be best to wait for gsmarena to test all the phones and tell us.

Ktulu (N95 8GB), 01 Sep 2008Tell me 1 good reason, why this should beat the N95 8GB. '... morehmm, one good reason?

Price, it will be cheaper than N95 8GB for sure in no time, Nokia will target the mass market in the matter.

Size, thinner, sleaker than N95 8GB, a bit smaller in screen but wil be complemented by OLED, can save 30% of baterry life

Software, fp2 v3, big improvements had been done, it is said 2 b faster than fp1, less power cnsumption, and more tweaks.

New stuffs trumped like fm transmiter, dual LED flash, better picture quality day and night, video recording and watching, better surfing, music, movie and gaming xperience as a result of better processor being used.

Memory card slot, bigger RAM among others.

already n95 8gb users have no reason to buy n85 unless you have a lot of money and you can buy anything. but for anyone else who never had an n95 8gb, n85 is a great choice. n85 is the better version of n95 8gb...

iolo003, 01 Sep 2008Allaboutsymbian have already predicted this phone to be the... moreTell me 1 good reason, why this should beat the N95 8GB.
'Cause, so far, the only things it's got (OLED, bit thinner, and the S60 rel. 3.2) don't make me wanna trade it with my N95 8GB!
Come on! It's even got a smaller screen! The fact that it doesn't have int. memory doesn't give it much credit, from my point of view. I'm a regular user (not a heavy one), and so far I didn't use out it's memory, so... Get real!
The S60 rel. 3.2... The 3.1 doesn't crash, not even 10% of the cases the N70 (Symbian 8.1) did! Frankly, it crashed 4-5 times in 4 months. That's fabulous.
So, for the time being, I don't think double the price of the N95 ('cause that's what's gonna be) is worth it!
And even when the time will come, why always buy a new phone? Why from one year to another buy a new one, and waste our money? A cell phone is made to last 4 years! We could do better with our money, we could intelligently invest it.
Mass manipulation is a corporation's tool. People are going to buy, some of them N85, others will stick to the N95 8GB. That's market strategy. Nokia applies it all over the Globe, HTC seems to have learned it, too.
Don't get me wrong! I'm a Symbian fan, and a big company in my country (Romania) contracted me (among others), to test smartphones, particulalry based on Symbian, and have them reviewed.

Technically speaking this phone is much more powerful than Nokia N96. I wonder why the hype about N96 when they had to release a some what better model (N85) in the next month.

over at smape.com, they confirmed that n85 is equipped with the same processor of n81, n78.

                            hello every one !

We have to wait for the correct assessment of the sound quality and speed of this handset.

if this phone carries the same music chip,DAC33 of N81 and is as fast as 5700XM, there is no other mobile in the market to beat this all-rounder with affordable cost( atleast after 2,3 months of release).

Kane, 31 Aug 2008after all these comments about processors... which one is... morechoice is simple.if u like to use multiple programs & tasks at a time then certainly n96 processor is better. bt if u run only one or two programs at a time then there isnt much difference between the two.

Allaboutsymbian have already predicted this phone to be the overall champ in sales and buzz this quarter over N96, innv8, C905 and others.

Its because of the totality of this phone that made it the hottest device as of the moment. All-in-one device at a reasonable price.
