if only it had a xenon flash like n82 it would have been better. though the sliding style is pretty nice

take a look at wikipedia.org and search 'oled'.
oled in my opinion is the future for all small screens.

Aparadektos, 28 Aug 2008Why would anyone buy this phone?? Its exactly like the N82... moreThis is totally not the same as the N82. As N81/N82 pointed out, the N85 has the North America 3G bands, which the others (and the N79) do not. THAT is what makes the N85 so awesome. Also, the difference between a 2.4" and a 2.6" screen is alot!

"Let us also dispel the rumors about the sound quality. The N79 and N85 models sport a sound quality identical to N78 and N81 (respectively), that is a bit below the sound quality of N91 or Samsung i8510."
"Save for the missing xenon flash, N79 is preferable over N82 in all aspects from design and battery life to ergonomics and audio quality..."
"...N85 is a full-fledged replacement for N81 and the currently phasing out N95 8GB." "Sporting a price on par with N95 8GB, the model (N85) has a better audio quality, an updated software platform, a longer battery life and a high quality screen. It more resembles a music phone than a camera phone, still retaining a good video viewing capability and a vast support for N-Gage games." "Moreover, N85 is in many aspects better than its higher-indexed counterpart (N95 8GB)."

The biggest difference between N85 and N81/82 is the 3G support for North America. and also the screen (size & Oled)

Regarding OLED lifespan: the blue OLED (shortest of the three) has 14,000 hours (5 years at 8 hours a day). 8 hours a day is really heavy use and I dont see most people use a cellphone for over 5 years. Keep in mind that this data is with old technology and it's very possible nokia may have improved blue OLED's lifetime. So I dont see OLED's life a major issue. The biggest issue is the $$$ :D

Its exactly like the N82... moreWell, why coz it has USB charging + flash while video recording + FM transmitter + longer battery life (talk time + stand by time) and of course not to forget its OLED screen saving more power.

I hope Nokia will keep up with Samsung and SE and build Windows OS phones too.
Just one, an N85, with decent battery, bigger touchscreen, more RAM and CPU is a must if Nokia wants to keep up with the co,petition...
