The biggest technical problem for OLEDs is the limited lifetime of the organic materials. The intrusion of water into displays can damage or destroy the organic materials. Therefore, improved sealing processes are important for practical manufacturing and may limit the longevity of more flexible displays.

i must say, the (AM)OLED technology is great. just a pity nokia took so long to use it, 1st in Nokia 7900 (aug 07).
SE used it already in Z610i in Aug 06.
anyway, OLED is the future for all phones.

i guess most of the folks here are failing to appreciate the OLED display, trust me it has to be seen to believe it, its just awesome.. this single feature "alone" will make it sell like crazy..

nokia 4 me....., 27 Aug 2008hey....i know that everyones wants to have a piece of these... moreWhy r people saying that nokia lost in the competition. U guys don't know that common people don't buy a high end phone and nokia produces for mass not for selected people. I bet that nokia will gain share in Q3 and Q4-2008 because people get more option with nokia than samsung or SE.Samsung is launching more highend fones but ultimately a common consumer looks for price also and i certainly say that they will endup buying a nokia phone.
And when 8MP race will begin in market then nokia will launch a 8MP monster to beat sony err and samsung right now nokia is focusing on 5MP which common people want

jack, 27 Aug 2008do you think the dual-LED flash will produce nice pictures ... moreDual LED provides more light than single LED. Also this is no ordinary LED still it produces 1/10 of light than xenon flash but it also saves battery. its a good compromise.

Anonymous, 26 Aug 2008well not everyone would be happy with touchscreens you know... morehey....i know that everyones wants to have a piece of these models....for the masses like you.i can understand that but other people are looking for a new phase here.it would be the same w/ other brands but the interest is way different from what you think.nokia's are way behind the competition & you'll realise it one day.you'll be whinging as well.

nokia's fan, 27 Aug 2008omfg, wtf is that, come on nokia, what is the different bet... moreYou're looking only for the design. Maybe it looks so related to N96, N81, etc.. but this phone has some novelties. It's the first Symbian with an OLED display, it'll greatly improve battery life, a new and more powerful battery, fm transmitter, and RDS radio. Maybe those features aren't enough for you, but for many users like me that's enough. We don't mind about 8mp cameras (actually 5mp cameras ón phones produces equal pictures, only the size increases) or TV receiver, we don't need them. But personally I like more the design of N79

Omg should have got this instead of the n82 - well its still a good phone. Sort of sick of the n82 crappy battery life. This is where the n85 is superior. On top of that better n82 have way better picture quality - i mean come on it OLED!!! But it will be better if n85 have xenon flash XD

musicphone/n82, 27 Aug 2008it's less likely that n85 and n79 will have the freescale 3... moreActualy, the freescale 369mhz processor can record at vga 30fps. Check the spec sheet of the 6220classic.
About the build quality, according to sites like mobilereview.com, smape.com, the n79 wil have a better build quality than n82 while the n85 wil have better build quality than n81. The surface shall not be as glossy either. So dont bash guys who are defending it. We'l just have to wait for them to come out or maybe wait for the reviews.
