Anonymous, 12 Mar 2010Im going to buy a new phone this weekend im having a choice... moreI had w995 for a while and watched a few films on it via the free films download center,,their where some faults like stand was very poor and sound thru headfones was thick and bass heavy and cam is not that good at 8MP and video is small resolution but good framerate..It is a stunning looking fone so why did i sell it?? It was not a smartfone and thats it and i could get better for the price..I would give design of w995 10/10 tho..Pones4u in uk is doing black version on prepay for 199 GBP..OH w995 is lighter than n86 but overall the n86 is a super smarfone..

As you requested I will exclude the camera, so what is felt defines them by a hair. But I think that the digital compass could be fun and the SAR value (radiation) is a bit healthier on the n86, I also heard that the n85 keyboard is not too good. So all over, I would go for the n86! Hope this helps! :)

Im going to buy a new phone this weekend im having a choice between n86 and w995.i know n86 tops in camera and w995 with audio quality but i want to know is n86 audio is too bad with speakers and headphones or it average and is there any software available like sony ericsson theme creator for nokia n86 to create themes apart from lot of themes available in website cuz i want my own theme to be created is it possible for nokia n86

If you close the n86 then use sliding switch to unlock it u can use it as a tiny fone and still do a lot except for txt input. It is nokias non-touch flagship multimedia smartphone.. Cool..

mero, 11 Mar 2010Except the 8mp camera and build quality,which is better N85... moreI have had both in fact this is my second n86 ive bought..The n85 was an odd device for me the screen was really bad in sunlight the n86 is 20 percent better but OLED suffers from sunlight ledgebility at this moment in time..The n85 sound was odd and is why i sold it, it sounded echoey like in a cave and camera shots were not crisp and video record was stuttery so only had it few weeks..Theirs not much that bad about n85 but with vid and sound bad is was not for me..Since then the n85 probably has had updates and cheaper than n86..
Ive bought and sold a lot of fones over past years and just got the Nokia 6650 to try since i love clamshells,,its a brilliant little smartfone with nokias powerhouse lithium polymer bp-4l 1500mA battery.,Its back to the normal cam/low video res tho but its a refreshing change..
If you dont mind its age and can get hold of one the n95 8GB still rules for me ..Ive left symbian for a while with htc touch pro and xperia and many others but always ened up back with nokia symbian,,its just when you look at specs you get the lot even equalisers good cam etc which are often missing in other companys for e.g. i wanted a samsung omnia 2 but it does not have profiles?? its slow and bad audio i mean how smart is that if it does not have profiles????..Then next i got n97 which was big so went for n97 mini but audio was poorer than n97 but i hate touchscreens now and back with n86..My main fone for past 4 months has been e72 which is perfect except for stuttery video record and wont play vids taken on n95 type fones with vga.30fps size ,,also when you plug in charger it changes back to default theme and mssges are defaulted back to storing in fone memory till an update clears these faults..
All i am doing is choosing the best of whats around not the fone i want...I would love a clamshell n86 with bp-4l battery and 262k tft colour screen..262k gives the best colours in my opinion...

To give a clear picture about this phone listen to this :
1- First of all it's a very good phone ( and that's a fact ) 8MP cam , strong dual flash , great features and nice screen .
2- If you have a nokia N82 and you do'nt care about FM transmitter and OLED screens , Dont get this ( I had n82 and upgraded to n86 ) .
3- camers IS NOT better than n82 NO FREAKING WAY , the video quality in the dark and in room is difinatlly better .
4- shaky slider ? sadly ..yes and you can feel it , it's solid and strong , but you can feel that it's shaky .
5- Keypad is so nice , good and trust worthy .
6- FM transmitter KIKCS AZZ .. I can hear my music from cars around me ( Imagine metallica crowling in some old guy station wagon !!! ) .
7-GPS WI-FI .. is good and decent
Anyway .. the problem is , from the 2nd day with this phone , I started to miss my n82 , the only problem with n82 is that it's boring .

julie, 11 Mar 2010Your lucky then!!dont forget julie that branded handsets will not operate smoothly operators brand there handsets because they want you to spend more money, but branding the phone just stuffs it up, thats why I bought the phone unbranded cause I hate it when they band phones....

have u tried searching for people with the same problem and have the same carrier like Uk and 02? chances are its the carrier that screwed the phone. which is very common. I myself does not experience the problems... although sometimes its slow when i first turn on the phone. then after a few secs it continuously operates smoothly and fast.
