I had one since yesterday, not yet updated, pls keep that in mind.. Not updated because the update dont work, and its not the only thing that do not work...
First impression was very good, from there it went only downwards. NOthing here to impress me, video playback is very poor, software decoding of 720p on N9 is poorer than even 600MHz Android units.
the display is not much better than Samsung amoled, it has very poor viewing angle and bad color reproduction. By poor viewing angle i mean the colors change and everything turns blue when viewed from an angle. I suspect Galaxy S has better contrast, i will test it against a Galaxy S2 next week. The visibility of individual pixels is also a problem for amoled, seems to be severe on N9, quite distracting when viewed up close. No matter what, AMOLED is very inferior to IPS, like for example the LG Optimus 2X.
The bright side of things: More stable than Android, but everything is more stable than android so its not a big victory i would say. Multitaskign is ofcors much better, but again its partly because Android has virtually no multitasking thanx to the autotaskkiller that is now a native part of android that cannot be disabled.
And ofcors the browser of N9 is a huge disappointment, really weak and unpredictable and poor webpage suport.
General for ui and browser is the lack of feedback, never know if a press has already been registered or not, theres no feedback at all, just have to wait and see if it worked.
Its an ok phone for the price, i dont understand how they can sell it so cheap, so very big pricecut so shortly after the launch was indeed a surprise.

[deleted post]LOL, android fanboy, that's all you can say???!!! Obvious you did not try a N9!
MeeGo/Harmattan has better user expirience with SWIPE, no buttons, real multitasking, does not lag like Android, it is much less power/resources hungry than Android and in the end is much more simple to use tha android(especially ICS is more complicated than Harmattan).
About the phone(hardware), it is the most beautiful device ever created and I am not the only one saying this!(check the forums)

I've got my Nokia N9 now for about six days. All the nonsense that has been written doesn't exist! It is a 16g & it's more adequate for me. The user interface is an experience on its own! Having an N9 is like an adventure. Like everybody else, I was a little apprehensive before I bought it, but once I started using it, it became addictive. So everyone who wants to own it, don't let people who've never even tried it, discourage u! All the way in South Africa!

It actually has an FM radio, it even should have a transmitter; there's an application now that can use the FM receiver (with the headset plugged in as usual).

AnonD-4340, 16 Jan 2012Ah, ubuntu user, that explains a lot. Windows Vista of the ... moredont compare ubutu with vista ....
windows is different from linux
windows have virus.......ubuntu have no virus
windows for money.......ubuntu is free
comparing booting time...
my win 7 boot start up it will take more than 21 sec
but ubuntu will take less than 14 sec...
for shut down ubuntu will take only 6sec in version 10.10,but version 11.10 take 2 sec more...
win 7 it will take more than 10sec after not installing any anti virus...
i dont knw windows vista it cud cover up these speeds..
windows 8 only boot in 8 sec that is only speed can comparible wid ubuntu...
i think ubuntu 12.04 boot speed will be increased 2 to less thn 11 sec
windows is good in applicatons lik games...if u have no games u will bore with dat os..but linux ubuntu is a real fun...
finally ubuntu is not a vista of linux world itsgreat os than windows os's..
so i want sugest people insted of buying lumia 800 buy nokia n9...
its ma opinion...
