[deleted post]surprisingly my phone was initially unlocked and i called up vodafone today, they said they had no idea about the update.. i might call up nokia.. i seriously cant wait that long

AnonD-27028, 13 Nov 2011i got it!! it seems that u bought it from a cap plan which ... moreUGH! i just dont get why an OTA update has to go through the carrier, and to know that vodafone actually has no idea about the update gets me frustrated. I got sick of android because of all the delayed updates and broken promises so i hope nokia doesnt do the same. i honestly love this phone and it feels great when others stare in envy, but i hate how the browser stops responding every now and then and how sometimes my opened applications randomly close. I listen to music 24/7 and to actually swipe, unlock, open application then chamge song is very inconvenient. I hope the update gets here before late december. Is it possible to get the update earlier if i get my phone unlocked? btw thanks for your help, but i really need the update because my phones lags at times especially when im in an application and i recieve a message, it stutters and randomly shows my wallpaper for a second. plus my brothers one is experiencing battery issues and we hoped the update can fix that rather than going through the process of replacing handsets. i couldve got any phone but i decided to get this.. so nokia please make me proud.

AnonD-26593, 12 Nov 2011The Nokia N9 comes in two versions - 16 GB and 64 GB - whic... moreand yeah..ive got the 16gb already..its was for 99,999PKR when launched ....now its 52000PKR... 64gb isnt coming to my country...coz noone would buy such an expensive device..for now..only 300 units came to my country... maybe the white 64gb edition will come here by december...
im happy i got the 16gb..since it was the apps partition that looked too small for me...but when its the same on the 64gb..then its better to have 16gb... i dont keep much music and pics etc..i transfer pics after i take them to my laptop...so its fine with me..i also never watch movies on my cellphone...so its good for me... its jst the three partitions that are kinda puzzling...i had the e7 before this...and it had 14.6 gb single partition for all my stuff..apps songs vids pics games etc..so it looked better i guess...
btw there isnt a led light option in video rec..what would u say about that...u own an n9 urself right?
jst mention the pro's and con's according to u..for me its the led light in video rec..and the lack of portait twelve key alphanumeric keypad for texting(for me the portrait qwerty is v small to type..makes mistakes frequently..)

Ahmato, 13 Nov 2011I downloaded two software updaters from nokia.. the one thr... moreand BTW dont get disappointed by the delay. u r still better off not doing this upadate. after this update, my time zone seems to go automatically to melbourne instead of brisbane evry time, and i had to install all my apps again even though the memory seemed to used by previous installed apps. i will have to format it i guess. there is no much of the appreciable difference except for stronger multitasking which is important though, but if ur not doing voip calls, u wont notice it! honestly :)

Ahmato, 13 Nov 2011I downloaded two software updaters from nokia.. the one thr... morei got it!! it seems that u bought it from a cap plan which is actually not an unlocked phone! sorry to disappoint u but the phones launched with the carrier are 1 step behind the latest update, same happened with me when i bought n8 from three. this means when we recieve pr1.2, then you might recieve this update. i bought it from dicksmith @ $636 outright, so if you have bought it the same way please let me know. cheers

i have used OVI store before.. it is probably the worst store out there, i hate it. i did not use andoid store but im willing to bet the apps there have more functionality and more open.

Peoples will naturally go for the inbuilt 64 GB storage+1 GB RAM memory of N9,
rather then lumia 800 with16 GB+ 512 MB RAM memory with no video call facility, no NFC, no JAVA SUPPORT,no customisable users interface.

i see many complaints here and there. the phone is a great phone and i have had it for 1.5 months.
the next update(pr 1.2) which is due to be released in early 2012 i think will have some more specs not added in the very recent update (pr 1.1).
there is a gentleman who works for nokia and has the authority to reply to queries which i think is a fantastic idea who has been offering his views on what will be included in next updates. i think, if i recall correctly, update 1.2 may bring the video call functionality so be patient a bit. apps seems to be flowing nicely and some of the most useful apps seem to be there already.

its a great phone and this would have smashed all other phones and i really hope nokia realizes this. people dont want just another WP phone (just as android whored themselves). i, personally, like dedicated OS to one manufacture and the meego would have given Nokia that. i see some of the points why nokia would want to associate themselves with MS but MS will not care about nokia and will only care about themselves and about getting as many OEMs on board so the differentiation of Nokia will be thrown out of the window!
the phone is beautiful and it deserves to live on and continue with future models!

Ahmato, 13 Nov 2011I downloaded two software updaters from nokia.. the one thr... morego to talk.maemo.org and go to the n9/950 forum (under devices). you will see a thread there talking about updating through nokia software updater. however, i think there are only 4 australian variants that are getting the update, more to come soon i guess. there is also another option of flashing the phone with navifirm, but i am not so sure about this. i have not yet tried to update my phone, am willing to wait a little longer for crazy johns releases an update....

Although some are saying voda will release the update late december but whose willing to wait that long? My battery keeps draining from the constant refresh in hope of recieving the update prompt, So whoever is living in Australia and was able to update please help.. thank you. I'll be anxiously waiting for help.

Ahmato, 13 Nov 2011Im currently using the N9 and live in Australia.. im really... morehi there! i live in australia and did not get the update notification too. then i installed software updater from nokia website and it updated for me. maybe it will work for u too.
for others, there are few small disappointment with this updates, firstly, the swipe manager wont work anymore so people who r used to close apps by swiping up like me have 2 change the habbit; the volume control is not as snappy as it used to be; no extra options in the browser but firefox seems to work better; speaker volume is still low and availability of video calls :(

The camera now has colour filters, which advanced level photo amateurs can make use of.
If still problem, well, reinstall through nokia software updater, dont need to re-download, it will just re-install, takes 5 min only
