which on OS is better for N900

    MEEGO or MAEMO ??

my opinion is: Maemo is better because Nokia knows which OS better for Nokia Devices.

hi y'all. it's 2 months now since i have my n900 and i have to say it's unbeliveble. the maemo 5 is the best software that nokia ever had. pricewize it's on the expensive side but compared with xperia x10, motorola milestone, and htc hd 2, it's the best choice. belive ME

blodybond007, 14 Aug 2010the N900 has surely been an experience in itself for me. ha... morefor all those ppl who have been complaining over battery life - there are some custom kernels which have solved the standby battery drain problem. but be careful coz they can be harmful to the device n void ur warranty. im using one n am pretty happy with it. i get a standby of bout 2 1/2 days with only takin a few calls - about 2hrs.

blodybond007, 14 Aug 2010the N900 has surely been an experience in itself for me. ha... morei really wish nokia continues development on maemo. its a gr8 os, n if nokia desides to move away from it, it'll be a gr8 loss to technology or atleast me. i simply love this OS. NOKIA PLZ DONT DISCONTINUE MAEMO. ITS SIMPLY FABULOUS.

the N900 has surely been an experience in itself for me. having used symbian n winmo before, maemo was something quite different. while some would argue that the UI is not as easy to use as others in the market, once u use it u see how obvious things are in the UI. so much so that when i used another touch based device i started tapin on the empty spaces to go back. most ppl might say that the 600mhz processor is nothing gr8 especially when there are some devices sporting a 1ghz processor. but u have to use some of the apps on it to believe what this beast is capable of. the pim i disagree with some ppl here is quite unique. i always wished i could have a device could integrate n merge my contacts over social networks. ofcourse there might already have been some devices which did that. but the way the n900 does it is fabulous. while im all praises for the n900 there are some downsides to it also. -- im not complaining about any lack of apps. coz i only find lack of games - i luv gaming.
                cons: -
1.battery is hardly sufficient, standby is less than a day infact about 12-15 hrs mostly - but maybe im forgetting that its more of a tablet
                2.the front camera is lousy
                3. really bulky - maybe due to the power it packs
                4. keyboard is not that gr8. i never liked the keypad response on the n90 but now i realize how gr8 that is.
                5. the backcover is hard to open n so micro-sd card slot is not easily accessable.
power button doesnt respont every time its pressed. - especially its really hard to turn on the device. some times u need as many as 5 attempts before the phone starts.

conclusion: had the battery been able to survive about 20 hrs of medium usage there would be no replacement to the n900. the battery infacts drains even during idling very rapidly. so whether u use it or not. the n900 will due on u somewhere around midnight if uve charged it in the morning, which is sad. I REPEAT THE UI IS SIMPLY SUPERB I JUST LUV IT, n the way i can influence settings from the terminal is something only my fellow linux users would know how gr8 it feels.

                        Reminder :

"99% bought Nokia N900 cause they wanted a high end super device. 1% only really know HOW to handle such technology. The rest of them complaining every two minutes about everything.

If you can't handle Linux, just sell your mobile back and get something that is commonly used...iphone,N97,5800,HTC,Samsung,etc etc...

Complaining about things that are already been said and overcome before 4 months doesn't make you an unhappy customer, just an ignorant..."
