its full of powerful and user friendly features but it has one BIG yet disappointing problem, battery life. i made it stay connected to 3.5G and the skype, and the battery was a bit more than half, and my friend called for about 5 minutes, and it ran out! i cannot stay online as claimed, 'online as it happens'..... i need to buy a battery spare.

is this nokia n900 doesnt have a portrait mode?
It means its a full time landscape mode?
If yes its very cool for me. I hate portrait mode.

personally when it comes to mesaging i like to turn it portrait now and again..it irritates me sometimes, feels like im holding a PSP. cant wait for the soft ware upgrade.
guess its great for the computer side of things though!

Coz if u did u wud know dat Nokia said it will be possible but it will come in a software update, "to be announced later". So not yet, maybe very soon.

ayava, 10 May 2010as soon as portrait mode comes in the next software update,... moreheheh, well said! I do however like to be able to write text in portrait mode when i drive. Ok, its illegal to do that here, but i do it anyway. Typing while driving in landscape mode requires holding the N900 on the steering wheel, while typing with both hands. A small disadvantage there, but i can still manage to write text and im, so its not a disaster, just a bit more cumbersome..

CAN YOU MAKE VIDEOCALLS ON THIS PHONE OVER THE 3G NETWORK?
It's not specified anywhere...hardware is there but as i undersood, the secondary camera was internded for internet callind/videochat.
I use videocalling over 3G Network (VODAFONE) so i want to know if that is now possibile with the n900

Guys, the phone is realy smart! One thing that put me down is the battery life time.. Its pretty less. How do I make it stronger?

very nice phone.. music is great, so as the camera. only 2 things i've been missing. the video call and having contact groups. but overall, very nice.

You will get used to it soon enough, its not bad at all, its just old habits that make ppl miss portrait, landscape orientation is better in many ways. You dont have to surf crappy WAP sites on this one, then portrait orientation is not good for the web anyway. We dont use portrait orientation on PC/laptop, right? Same here...

Had mine a month and still didnt stop =) It still does not fail to amaze me after all these hours i spent with it. Its the most lovable thing ever. Maybe you didnt install Easy Debain yet, but im sure u will soon, just wait till you see the complex Java/Flash webpages Iceweasel can render and other "linux" stuff you can do both in Maemo5 and Easy Debian,like theres no limits!

I never had problems making calls with N900, and my calls are not being disconnected for no reason (Samsung anyone?), so i dont see ur reasoning here. You miss smart dialing, voice control? For me its enough that N900 will redial last called number by doubleclicking the answer button on my bluetooth headset. ANd just admit it, we do NOT use voice controlled dialing in public places, its plain stupid, especially if u need to repeat it and talk extra clearly heheh. Voice control is very embarrassing wen it does not work due to background noise.
So, size vs functions, theres so much more N900 can be used for, and around same size! Since N97 is quite useless i have to say its the bigger by far, even if N900 was one pound it would be "more usabilty per pound". =)
