"Nokia doesn't really care what you and I think at this point.

I'll explain: it's the only company to offer a decent product with this level of open-ness (Openmoko's hardware AND software is relatively rubbish, Android is not anywhere close to being as open as Maemo, etc.). And they know that people who really want it will wait for it. Heck! They could have sold it for 10,000 SEK and I would still be after one.

People getting all excited about the maleable deadline release are not that many.

Yes. What Nokia did is shameful and downright insulting. But as long as there's no alternative, I'll wait. In fact, I'm quite pleased they're having trouble meeting the overwhelming demand. It shows to all manufacturers that we're sick of locked down, non-evolutive phones. They now have proof that open-source is not just about hype. There's a real market to be tapped.

Here's hoping we all get one before year's end. "

I've been pinning hopes on surprises here in Singapore as well, all but nothing, zero news. Maybe the fastest way to get my hands on it is through Amazon and have it imported to my location.

Actually, I can understand the rationale behind Nokia's decision on their 3-rows QWERTY.

I own the Touch Pro 2 myself and it also has a QWERTY keyboard. However, the major usability issue regarding this keyboard is the distance between the lower row keys and the touch screen. Often enough I'll have to stretch my thumbs (either hands) to click on the "Search" button on Google to continue, while leaving the keyboard slide opened.

The 3-row keyboard, as I've seen in reviews for N900 as well as N97, the time required to get used to the layout is quite minimal (around 30 minutes I guess). And since there is only 3 rows of keyboard, it is definitely easier to reach out for the touch screen after typing a key in the bottom row of the QWERTY.

Of course, I have to be objective in saying that the lack of the number row on the QWERTY is indeed a disadvantage when compared to full blown mobile keyboards. What do you guys think?

to all nokia n900 lucky owners, I know what this phone is capable of, and the specs and performance in paper... but what I'm interested in are the negatives (like things missing, bugs or anythingh from hardware to software) directly from owners

                          thanks!

I'm sure n900 is a really nice phone but no voice dialing. C ya.

                            N97 works well for me.

Will the N900 even finish a 3 hour of movie play if it was fully charged? How much will it be left from it after the movie?

So what is the final talk time and stand by time for this device? Its been a mystery forever now. Very disappointing this.
