AnonD-122, 02 Dec 2011Yeah gotta agree with you. It is one of the best resistive ... morelack of multitouch is a hardware limitation, resistive technology cannot register more than one concurrent input. Not that it matters anymore, capacitive is taken over on all levels except the very cheapest like touch'n'type and korean lowest budget models.

btw, touch is the wrong term for resistive type, on capacitive we touch the display but on resistive we press. Some languages differentiate between touch and press, but the english terms capacitive and resistive is taking over also in most of those countries. If it was up to me i would call it "touchscreen" and "pressscreen" instead =)

I do own a 5233 as well and it's touchscreen is nothing compared to my N900. Though a resistive type it only needs a very slight pressure to register an input. This is perhaps the best in class as resistive technology goes. The only thing that I found to be missing is multitouch input and pinch to zoom gestures.

N900 is the best resistive by far, sensitive comfortable and accurate, but it does require calibration.

I had 5800 before i got N900, i was convinced that resistive could never be good but the N900 proved me wrong. i also tried som samsung and LG resistive budget phones, the only word that comes to my mind is HAHA

To make things a bit easier, install faster application manager first then install the rest of the apps using faster aplication manager.

It is just a gui front end for kernel-config-settings but lacks additional settings like changing the voltage profile, dsp clock, sampling rate, governor, etc. For advanced options and for fine tuning xterm is the best way to do so.

Praneeth, 30 Nov 2011Thanks Mate, but overclocking will affect my warranty of n900?Nah I don't think so. So far there hasn't been any reports of chips frying due to overclocking. In addition I gave my N900 to the ASC for fixing my loose slider but got it repaired under warranty. Just make sure not to push the limits too hard.

For this to work, you should have the latest powerkernel and kernel-power settings installed. After this open xterm

                                root
                                kernel-config load *preset
                                kernel-config limits **250 805

                                **lowest and highest clock limit.

To edit a profile preset use leafpad and change the values there.
                                root

So if face any issues I may not be able to help you much. If you have any previous version of powerkernel installed it is advisable to remove it manually and restore the original nokia kernel before proceeding. Use the nokia kernel flasher shortcut to restore the original kernel. After flashing, do a reboot and open xterm
                                      root
                                      apt-get install kernel-power-flasher
                                      apt-get install kernel-power-settings
do a reboot and if everything goes smoothly kernel power v49 will be loaded upon reboot.
