As i can see, there is a deference between N9000 and all the other phones in OS (Operating System), N9000 has a new OS > Maemo 5, check about Maemo 5 and you will see what this new OS has to offer... If you ask me there is a lot of deference and i prefer this phone because of the OS, this is something new...

plz, don't compare n900 with the iphone.
bcoz, in terms of feature n900 is mile ahead .

if you want to compare iphone, then you should go to
on LG Arena & NOKIA 5800...these models are equal to iphone.........ok

Another step in the right direction by Nokia:

Comparing the freedom of any other OS with Maemo is like comparing phone-cameras with DSLR-cameras.

Anonymous, 10 Sep 2009Comparing what? Spec sheets? LOL. The iphone is not abou... moreActually iphone is turning from a bragging phone into a dork phone.

From the first device till now the steps they made were so small that people now consider you some stupid kid with a stupid toy if you have one.

And as you can see iphone wans are a wide subject of mockery especially ewhen they pop into a thread like this and say:
                      "iphone is best"
Or start counting ages old features that they just "discovered" on the iphone.

And 3gs... really? I was extremley dissapointed, I spent so much for so little... sold it after a month.

N900 can support much more advanced progeams loke let's say... Open Office wich is the best office siute availabe after the microsoft one, some may even argue but I like microsoft office.

So yes it can, in a far more advanced way than any phone out there.

                            to the "mentality problems" user:

The fact that iphone and all other phones out there do browse like crap is a true and general statement.

The fact that you have an app to "load youtube" and do that is simply a lame workaround and by no means a software innovation like N900.
iphone is not-so-fluid anymore once you browse with 12 pages open. It barely moves. But what could you browse on that small screen anyway...
Produces excellent music?? get real, it's just music and even the lamest phone can do it. If you were to try blindfolded you'd never know wich is wich.

But iphone is a nice bling for users just like you who don't want much, don't know much and don't need much.

So stop comparing iphone with a smartphone or even worse, with a phone that has a REAL operating system.
All iphone has is firmware LOL.

Please help me answer my question about N900.

Can N900 supports all applications like S60? Let's say it can use QuickOffice like N95 8GB.

Very thanks if you can reply my question.

Anonymous, 10 Sep 2009Comparing what? Spec sheets? LOL. The iphone is not abou... moredid I mention about the hands in video in youTube? i myself dont want to compare specs sheet because i dont believe in them, look at how Omnia HD feared in reality.

N900 have great (real) hands on videos and base on what I saw, its nothing different than my iphone experience, even much better because it gives a real pc browsing experience, sleek and responsive UI and what matters most, it can do multi tasking which iphone does't have.

yes the zooming is a bit peculiar but thats more than minor to me compared to the advances N900 have to iPhone.

2.} IS it better than Iphone, BlackBerry Cure or Bold?

3.} And does it have chatting liek the BlackBerry?

iphone fanboy, 10 Sep 2009i already posted a comparative pre-review between N900 and ... moreComparing what? Spec sheets? LOL. The iphone is not about squeezing in tons of features just so it would look good on paper. Even before this N900, there are already other phones out there that look better on paper than the iphone, yet the iphone prevailed and even bested the rest by bagging the best smartphone award.

The N900's touch UI looks better than the N97, but still does not look as fluid and smooth as the iphone's touch responsiveness and intuitiveness. Just look at the way the N900 zooms a web page vs the way the iphone does it. And the N900 only has 4 desktop pages, and each page can fit maybe 4 to 6 widgets. The iphone can have over 12 menu screens that can fit 16 apps per screen.

Clearly two things need to be corrected on GSMArena's N900 specifications:

                                        1) "... N900 has a FM receiver hardware inbuilt. Today, we do not ship FM-radio as a built-in application. However, we look forward to the community to build exciting mash-ups of FM radio and other media experiences on Nokia N900 with high local relevance." Said by Peter@Maemo Marketing http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=318661#post318661

                                        2) The same thing goes with multimedia messaging (MMS). No MMS application shipped with N900 at the moment.

Since Maemo is open source OS, one should follow what applications Maemo community can offer in near future at maemo.org
