comparing the fone to the i-phone i think its got good bang for the buck. The only major difference is the numerous apps available for the i-phone which u have to buy of course, since the nokia N900 is open sourse in terms of its devlopment then lets see wat the last 1/4 of 2k9 puts out for the "mobile wars".

Firstly, I hate Nokia Smart phones with S60 as well. But N900 seems to be a diff. touch over all could be due to the shift in OS by Nokia...I am truly excited to check out the new OS from Nokia (end of day its all LINUX) but still if it works then it may be the real iPhone killer.

this is why n.i.g.g.e..r.s arent allowd online... n97 was good if not GREAT but this is bteer EXCEPT for the battery. i'm worried about it. ihpone has been beaten multiple times by MANYother simple phones. cuz i phone is garbage.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2009crappy resistive screen, heavy weight of 181g, thickness of... moreCapacitative screens have benefits and drawbacks. The benefits are obviously multitouch, but the drawback is that it's only usable using your fingers directly with skin. It won't work with gloves, or pens (if you like hand writing recognition).

Regarding the dimensions, it's actually very similar to the iPhone with it's 3.5" screen, and slightly smaller. It may be thicker, but that's also because it includes a qwerty keyboard (which is very useful if you use the phone intensively for typing).

Alot of people have a hard time typing, when the 3.5" screen is occupied by a virtual keyboard constantly.

Anonymous, 29 Aug 2009and what about the camera and video capabilities. what abou... moreSomeone said Motorola used Linux a long time ago -- but it was a proprietary linux UI and kernel. The linux build from Maemo is based on GNOME. This is a full fledge OS capable of lots of things; for example memory swap giving the 256 mb ram up 1 gb of virtual ram.

Comparing the old Motorola linux based UIs to Maemo, is like comparing Windows 3.1 to Windows 7. If you think a name has been around for awhile means it's outdated, then people shouldn't use Apple Macs, since Apple has been around since the 70s.

Useful note: iPhone and MacOS X are all unix based - similar to linux.

Based on current promotions, test results, and paper specs, this is a real contender for iPhone.

Should check out all three videos from:

crappy resistive screen, heavy weight of 181g, thickness of 18mm...this phone look like a brick. The new OS will not have many apps and games so i suggest you wait couple of months before buying this phone.
