My Nokia N900 not detects any network after 3 years of usage. Anyone any idea, what may be reason? i bought this phone in USA and using in India for the past 3years.

in 2014, this fone seems out dated just because of its app store and its speed obv comparing with todays flagships, be it apple android or even blackberry

jeet doshi, 16 Jul 2014how to update phone soft ware.? mumbai residentIf your OS version is 21.2011.38-1 then its up to date. Nokia left maemo after updating upto this version of os. If you are using the earlier version then you can update. To update you can use the app manager within the os. Before that you have to enable and refresh the repositories. Another way, Install the nokia pc suite and the software updater. then connect the device with your pc/laptop, then click on 'update phone software'. in both cases make sure the internet connection is uninterrupted and with good speed.( note: community version of the maemo that is cssu won't be updated in this way)

And its obviously serving me very well. I m neither an expert nor a nobis about linax. but i can solve my problems with nokia N900 by myself. i had to flash it 3 times during this time period. But its okay now. i won't recommend the testing version of cssu.cuz it not much stable. but cssu stable6.1 & thumb 9.1 is pretty much stable. if you add the perfect repositories in the app manager the app manager wont suck anymore. u can take screenshot too. I agree with with you about android. no doubt its better and lots of people from all over the world are working on it . if i can go with my nokia N900 why should i leave it ?the fm transmitter, Fcam features, camera with 5mp and carl zeiss lens is just awesome to me .

no one is a linux master to overclock and do this and that
even updating the fone is a headache, first dload the cssu testing, then keep for update, the application manager sucks, yeah faster application manager sucks too, compare with android store, screenshots, discription everything

Let me know wher we can find those ipk files..

Other things are overclocking ( with kernel for power user), camera with ISO 1600 and some new eature,Mobile hotspot.Memory can be expanded upto 64 gb, Thumb version tmaemo9.1 is really smooth. and there are lots of bug fixses there. I am using it for more than 2 yr. brousing,email check, video call, hotspot, overclocking, gps with modrana, everything is running smooth.

the OS is beautiful, but what pisses everyone here is we have to beg for the little things like portrait and games and stuff
