pappy you seem to know everything about this n91 m8 iv got mine today and i was just wondering pal if theres anything i should do or download ,before i start using it.cheers pappy

    Tomorrow u guys are gonna see the 8GB Editition of the N91. It's in black colour. Along with that Nokia also announced N95, N75 and N73 Music Edition.

      Since I got hold of the unit 11 days now Im gettin irritated with so many problems like it hangs up so I have to turn pullout the battery. I brought to Nokia service center for reformatting but my najor problem of not getting connected still not solved. I still cannot transfer files, photos and music from my PC to my N91. My OS is Windows XP. Is there anything wrong with my cable? Gosh its a very expensive unit yet not user friendly. I cannot maximize the use of it.

        Did anyone knows what seems to be the problem with the sound of the telephone when you make a call? I'm having this problem: when I give a phone call a fishing sound starting to appear and the disscusion is terminated. Can anyone help. Do I heve to go with my phone to a service?! This thing is not very often, but is annoying. I appreciate a answer to my mail: kalif_m@yahoo.com

          Bob,

          thanks a lot for your input. So I guess there's nothing I can do with the noise. Its just very annoying everytime I have a conversation with someone and I keep hearing this buzzing noise in the background. I've also heard that the first batch of Nokia N series all have the same problem. Is it true? Thanks.

            Yepeee today I upgraded my phone to 2, looks cool, now the software is available in India through nokia updater software .... so guys try it out

              that's ok frapz. no worry. it's the HD`s sound or sometimes the display proccesor sound..but not allways. anyway relax, all n91 do the same "noise". u might have figured out that u hear it only while the display in on.. or u "play" with your n91.

                i've used smartphones before and i know they can take a while to load and dat but my god this thn is SLOW! menu and everythn takes time to load. maybe they should use flash cards instead of a HD. i just hope its just a bug or smthn and the firmmware upgrades will speed thngs up. i also read reviews (b4 i buy) bot the s60 v3 operating system and yea it sux. th original s60 (and s60 v2) is much better. again i hope the upgrades will fix this...

                  Hello!
                  I got my N91 a few months ago and I've been hearing noise/echo in the background. It sounds like buzzing sound. I've tried to reflash it twice (the second time the volume of the background noise has lessen). Does anyone have the same problem? Any suggestions as to how to overcome this problem? Thanks!

                      My phone HD is not available!

                      I updated my SW. What to do I tried restart and hard reset.

                      I want to format the HD but it's never available!

                        To unnamed person who had issues with N91-1 and now has a N91-5. First off 2.00 IS available in India for both N91-1 and N91-5. People on this and other blogs have downloaded it.

                        I think the Nokia centre you went to is full of s@hj. Formatting is what you should do. I talked to the UK people and the problems you had before had nothing to do with the HDD but is was a "database?" corruption on the phone and the phone could not see the HDD. Actually if this happens if you reformat the HDD and then reload the sw at home using NSU it fixes it. They could have just reflashed your phone with new SW instead of repleaing it every time.

                        N91-1 and N91-5 weigh the same I suspect since I assume WLAN is just a few chips. I hope the gave you some money for the difference because N91-5 is cheaper. People said that is why the N91-1 is not really sold anymore in India is because the N91-5 sold well.

                        By the way do you use PC suite or Nokia Audio manager to manage your music?

                          1) Ramer, amr are you guys using PC suite or the Nokia Audio Manager to transfer you music? I found it causes problems and is confusing (one window shows that the songs are being copied but what it is actually doing in copying it to PC memepry and you have to look at the bottom window to see what is going to the N91..if you disconnect after the top window is done it wil lokk like only a few songs got copied over..) I use USB Mass Storage. Also backup and restore doesnt seem to work well.

                          Derrick: Yes if you did not back it up then you may loose them If it makes you feel any better I erased those 4 months ago from mine...cmon live 8! is almost 2 years old now and it tool up over 200 mbytes

                            I cut and paste Mmans post about updating your sw:

                            I just upgraded my N91 with the official SW from Nokia and its GREAT!. Now I can update my own N91 when new Sw comes or refresh my device if somehow I screw it up:

                            Bader the 256MB is what your PC must have in RAM. My older PC got the same message and I had to use my newer laptop.

                            Pappy try it out! Info:

                            1) Make sure you have the latest PC suite (6.81)from : http://europe.nokia.com/A4144903, or other local regional sites.

                            2) Install the Nokia software update application sw from http://www.nokia.co.uk/softwareupdate (note you need 256MBytes of RAM on your PC)

                            3) Then program your phone

                            a) Backup your phone memory (ROM) using PC suite (to preserve your DRM activation keys etc).

                            b) Copy your files (Music, Videos, Documents, Images etc) from the device HDD to your PC (recommended to use USB Mass storage).

                            c) Copy your applications, themes etc (original SISX, Java etc files before you installed them) from your HDD to your PC (Do not simply copy the installed directories/files over)

                            d) FORMAT your HDD

                            e) Proceed with SW update (note you need to be attached to a charger and not in offline mode. Do not answer or make call or disconnect the device during this process)

                            f) Reset your phone memory by typing *#7370# (code 12345) (recommend this just to be safe)

                            g) Restore your phone memory using PC suite

                            h) Copy back your HDD contents from your PC to your clean HDD

                            h) Re-install your applications/themes

                                Guys any place where I can sw v2.00 for my N91? Don't wanna update through Nokia Software updator, it's very problamatic, always says unable to update in the last step. I want to update using Phoenix 2006. So guys any source where I can download it from?

                                    hey all people using n91 try using the apple in-ear headphones for superb audio clearity i just got them now..inspite of all the bugs in n91 ,there is nothing good is n91

                                      hi pappy,

                                      how will i now what version my n91 is?? what shall i do?? im having problems with this fone because when my media saves more than 10 files, i think, it will hang up and all the data on the hard drive will be lost including the contacts... how can i solve this problem??? is it the version of my fone that has the problem??

                                        I m observing from couple of days that the music quality is much more improved and become better after the upgrading,but i dont understand one thing that when i m going to edit any equiliser setting the sound quality is producing little bit noise,especially i just want to mention here that all default eq. setting are producing top class high quality sound. when i have 1.00 version all default eq. are working not so good. is it happening bcauze of 2.00.052?. final word N 91 RULZ WITH 2.000,NO ONE CAN BEAT THE GREAT N91 MUSIC BLASTER.
