BUY THE PHONE!!!...ITS THE BEST PHONE IVE HAD SO FAR, ive got over 1000 songs, 4 movies, 10 games, and 20 videos....the music player is like that of an ipod.....the camera is ok x20 zooming...listen:
      1. download "Imto 3gp video converter" trust me its reduces the size of ur songs so u can add up to 2000 or more. when encoding songs chane the profile to "mp3 audio format" and the bitrate to 64
      2. when doing videos or movies change the profile to "divx format" and where it says same quality change it to "true"

      3. DO NOT us the pc suite to send songs to ur phone. just copy and paste it from ur encoded songs folder to the phone by usb...

                To Bhavin

By hangs I suspect you mean crashes (turns off etc?). Whereas I am not questioning your experience I can say that I (and friends I know) have never had these issues. I went to the UK service centre..35 minutes later I had the 1.10 sw no problem and their help line has been great (and patient since I call often with even just general questions)

It does make me ask - why are customers treated poorly (in general as you stated) in India...a country with the largest market with disposable income.

I wonder why you guys have so much problems with N91. If you don't know how to use these gadgets, then don't opt for these high tech things andthen whine abt it being useless & etc. I've been using mine for weeks, I've not faced a big problem. In fact, I've been using the 1.00 firmware all since, until i flashed it to 1.10 myself last night. Everything is fine. The phone is superb.

n00bs please stay away from N91. Stop putting rubbish comments here. Anyone who needs help to flash their firmware to 1.10 or 1.11 I'll be happy to help.

                    @noname
N80:better camera Mpx, plus memory external max 2GB, wider screen, en PTT
                    N91:special for music, 4GB harddrive
Other thing:both of them are same and battery ability are almost similar.

So what you need from your phone is important. If you only need smartphone without camera you can choose E series or E 70 (with camera) or N73? If you don't use smartphone than you can better choose nonsmartphone like 6233.

If every factor above are no problem for you, than choose the design that you really like.

                    Just an opini.

With all manufactiorers going for smaller liter phones ,
Noke went out of fashion again with this model . I'ts bulky and not user friendly . Rather go for the Sony K800I

I have been hardcore user and promoter of Nokia mobile instruments for past 13 years. Nokia instruments and serving customer policies have been best untill i bought Top Of the range Nokia N 91 from here in mumbai, india paying premium price for the handset in 1st week of may 2006.

Since the day 1 the handset developed problems of geting HANG. after 2 days i went to vendour and requested him to look into the matter and was surprise to get the answer as N91 is facing this problem world wide and nothing can be done. I checked around globally to find many users facing most common problem of N91 geting hang. I was told to use for few weeks by than some solution will come up.

While checking with other users i discovered that in many countries Nokia was exchanging the handset immeidately or refunding them money or allowing users to buy any other handset. This was found in UK, Dubai, Kuwait, Australia where io had inquired.

Since this was original manufacturing defect i after waiting long decided to give my instrument to authorised service centre for Nokia HCL Limiterd shop AT andheri (mumbai) and was given Jobsheet no paper 5300088018 adted 27th July. i was told they will get back to me in 24 hrs with possible solution. I received call next day saying HD has problem and this cant be repaired. i requested them to replace my mobile and also to give me loaner instrument till this gets attended.

i was never given any loaner instrument till today.

On 1st Aug, i got confirmation from nokia helpline tel no +9122 30303838 that my instrument will be replaced and delivered to me by 9th AUg. i was very upset and angry customer for such a long wait but in india this is common. customer is not treated like king but like a beggar most of the time.

Now till today 18th Aug i have not received my repalcement mobile nor nokia helpline able to give me any satisfactory answers. i ahve called more than 12 times ecery day asking for replacement.

The address, contact nos. of head office of nokia helpline or service station is not known to any of customers. its protected like top secret (obviously) im unable to contact ANYONE at nokia all i can contact is helpline call centre who says sorry for delay and someone will call me back.

My reason of writing this here is....
                        1. nokia which is a global no 1 company is treating us high valued customer in India very badly.
                        2. i have lost my faith from nokia as service is extremly poor. when i visited service station yestarday i saw people waiting and doing followups for their handset for more than 40 days whereby nokia claims that handset will be repaired and delivered in 15 days time. there are horrid stories available from customers.
                        3. N91 is a very smart mob but a failure piece. anybody who is thinking of investing in this instrument must rethink.
                        4. for any justice i feel customer has to go to court and fight the bettle as nokia india is NOT WORRIED ABOUT their customer as country and market is too big. so i must now proiceed with legal bettle and this too will atke time but justice will be given surely.

                        thanks bhavin.

                          Hi Kannan

I can say your experience s not typical and I am sorry to hear about it. Just curious how did you backup your HDD. Did you move things individualy (music, videos etc) or did you simply drag and drop the whole HDD in one shot. The reason I ask this is

                          a) If you just drag and drop the whole content and the constent had something wonky then it would appear that "christ another one failed".

PS: The runmor continues that Nokia will launch a way to upgrade your software at home very soon that wil save you a trip.

I plan to "publish: an updated Hints list soon

It is a verry good phone if it is working properly. The audio and video clarity is too good. The 4GB HDD memory is the best in market but I got it replaced 4 times in 3 months.I hope Nokia come up with permanant solutions for all the problems with the phone.I am too tired of visiting the service centre frequently.

                              response to many

N91 - The main reason to but this phone is the great sound quality and music focus. The N73 is nice but it does not have the audio chip the N91 has inside, it has not beaten SE ans IPOD in audio tests (stuff magazine etc). If you are a music lover its the phone for you.

Text: I find it easier on the N91 than any of the new Nseries I tried. Its deceiving but they have designe the keys to be so high with good feel that its very good. I must admit that if you have long fingernails I suspect you may have issues.

Helpful Hints - Glad I could help. Those July 29th hints I collected from all over the Blogs etc so many people contributed. What I like is that none of them really take away from the user experience.

Genrral Lee - Like i said before either you love the look and feel or you dont. I love it. No point arguing.

Larry: Yes it has FM radio and you can use any headset you like as the antenna. It has a IHF but it is Mono. The focus was on great headset audio and i suspect with the HDD etc they just ran out of room for two speakers.

Danish: The recent tracks is automatic and you cant play around with it. If you delete a song from a playlist the song stays on the HDD

I just thought I needed to say "thanx" for the advice especially the 29th july hints. My fone seems to be behaving (2 days now). I'm going to start 'messing' with PC suite and hopefully start having some fun.
