it is just so big and heavy that it may not fit into many pockets, not even thinking of carrying out around my neck.also the key pad seems quite problematic.the keys are all very small and shapeless. it can be a bit difficult to press especially the keys on the bottom line. and i've been waiting for soo long to get this. finally after meeting it in a show lately i've decided that it is probably not worth the money and the waiting. as a former nokia devotee i think i'll go for W800 at last.

I have been waiting for N91 for so long. I just checked on ebay in US and there are already few people selling this phones from Uk and other european Places.... I am wondering should i take that risk.. the guys showed legit pictures and all.

cool huh 4gb internal memory.. if it had card slot it owns haha but bad design n ... it will be darn EXPENSIVE when it comes out.. lol not a 3gb phone but omg lol the price will be holy!

I have been assured the N91 release will be in the first quarter of 2006.

Also as soon as there is a date they are going to let me know.

A few of my work collegues(sp?)best described the N90 when they said "It's a bit like a Transformer!"

The one thing that can be said about the new N Series phones. They all come with USB data cables. And the N91 also comes with a desk stand. Going by Nokia's usual pricing standards those two pieces of kit would likely cost you over £100 on their own!

But yeah...my advice (as with Daz) is to save your money.

The rest of the N Series i find to be a little disappointing, to say the least.

All three phones have 2mp cameras, the only difference between the camera functionality on the N90 and the others in the series, is the software. At the end of the day for straight out snap happy people the only thing that makes a difference to them is the quality of the pictures and how many they can store on the phone.

The N90 camera software is nothing new either, it's new for mobile phones sure, but most digitial cameras have had this sort of thing for a long long time. What sets them apart is the quality of the pictures.

2mp isn't enough, to be blunt. And the available memory isn't anything to shout about either. There are 3.2mp cameras on the way, and even these are already over shadowed by the looming 5mp handsets.

I'm sure, if you're into your technology, you're aware of the 8 and 9mp handsets already available in korea. How long before they reach us? a year at most? Camera phones are still playing catchup with regular digital cameras.

it's the combination of camera and phone that keeps them selling. Out of the 3 N Series phones, even if i wanted a camera phone i'd still go for the N91.

However the N90 and N70 are video call friendly, having 2 cameras (on the N70) and a swiveling camera (on the N90) whereas the N91 is a more conventional, albeit less video call friendly.

But lets face it, video calling is a long way off from being a standard form of communication, at least for mobiles.

@ Steve OK so it seems you are into your cool I.T (being a geek and all aparantly).So it would seem that the N91 is a good fone 4 u putting the ex weigh & price bhind as this does not put u of. However what is ur opinion on the n90 and how long until that is outdated as the camera is almost the same as n91?

Valid Arguements, some more things to consider =)

At the end of the day it's all down to personal preference.

2000 tracks for me (being a geek and all ;)) isn't half my collection of music. I mentioned the ipod because i feel it's a prime example for this discussion to compare the two schools of thought.

If you want an mp3 player, there are devices that can hold just as much if not more than the ipod. but the ipod has the 'IT' factor and is considered 'cool' by most people that are into the technology or just the gadgetry. As with most things, you pay for the brand and the physical design.

Most of the cost of an N91 has nothing to do with the technology at all. We all know Nokia are one of the biggest culprits for adding extra costs for no apparent reason. The Nokia 8800 is the biggest waste of money ever, a 6230i in a fancy case for £600+. But people will still buy it, because it's 'cool', some will even buy it purely because it IS expensive. It's a statement. It's the reason people buy Sony TVs over BUSH.

SE are no different. What's the W800 if not a K750i with a fancy case shipped with a larger memory card for an extra £200? there's always a cheaper option, it's just that human nature dictates that we compete to be cooler or better than our peers.

I'm also a big fan of convenience. I'd run out of pockets having to carry an mp3 player AND a phone around with me! so having my organiser, phone, mp3 player and video player all in one device is ideal for me.

Me personally, i've also never been a fan of the SE UI. I just cant bear to go back to such an inflexible operating system, the regular Nokias are the same. I've been spoilt by Symbian and Windows mobile! but then i know a lot of people that love the simplicity of the SE and Nokia menu driven UIs, it's just not for me.

The price of the N91 is still kinda steep, I agree. I would never buy a W800 over a K750i and i'm very much a gadgety geek that likes to have 'cool' technology. But i won't go as far to buy a 'cool' device if thats all that it is. The K750i/W800, among others, are already behind in technology stakes. If i'd kept my 6230i, bought a 2gb MMC and ignored the fact that the camera is out dated. I'd pretty much have the equivelant of a K750i. but the N91 is, for me a big enough leap to warrant spending the money.

6 months down the line there may be a phone on the market with a combined memory capacity to rival the N91 (over 6gb going on using a 2gb MMC as well) all the other features of the N91 may well be pretty outdated, especially the camera. But the only thing that makes mp3 players obsolete, is the size of the unit and it's capacity.
The N91 at least has one of those factors covered, but several months before anyone else!

Now all i need to see is it running Symbian with some degree of speed! heh.

Still too dear steve I have a MP3 player which can store over 2000 tracks (its made by philips if you want to know). It cost me £150 from a catalogue which is always dearer than the high street. A K750i is free on contracts when the N91 will be £250+ and you can get momory cards cheap if you look on e-bay. What I was trying to say about it getting out of date is because it keeps getting put back and back. The SE has been out for over 3 months and will still be very competative and great value by the time the N91 comes out while the N91 will still be very dear 6 months after its release. Yes hats of to Nokia for trying something new but they should have started this project a lot sooner.

Nope not from Tac. but unfortunately my contract prohibits me from representing the company without the director's permission.

Incidentally if the N91 comes in at around the same price as the N90. you're looking closer to £500-550 for the N91 for a sim free unit. and on a high network tariff you might be able to get it down as far as £150-200 depending on the deals at the time and obviously who buy from.

i work for a major online retail in the UK and we have the N91 slated early 2006. in response to how quickly this phone will be out of date, i think there are a few things you need to consider.

The first being what you use it for. If you use it for the camera, then you're gonna be out of luck with the Nseries. Photographs on mobile phones for me are more for spontanious convenient use. If i want excellent picture quality i'll use a digital camera that was built for that exact purpose. Mobile phones are always going to be 5+ years behind digital cameras anyway.

For music and video use, which is what the n91 is being marketed for. The n91 pretty much has this sewn up, with the possible exception of the Samsung I300 (3gb drive but looks ugly as hell!) no other phones in the pipeline even come close to a 4gb drive, and for music and video, this is inline with Apple's recent release of the I-Pod Nano (2 and 4gb versions)

And of course all of the N Series phones are fully 3G compatible, the N91 being the less of the 3 in this department. i'd also be suprised if the N series phones dont incorporate the visual radio and multimedia broadcast technology that was in the 7710.

Any phone released at any time is likely to be out of date in well less than 6 months, with a few exceptions. There's an unwritten technology phhilosophy that basically says that the standard of technology doubles in power and halves in size every 6 months. So dont expect any phone to be cutting edge for 6 months. 6 months is being optomistic in my mind.

I have a T-Mobile MDA3 at the moment. The MDA4 is due to be released in the same time frame as the N91. however the MDA4 is a very small leap up from the MDA3 technology wise, whereas the N91 (if you're not looking at it for a camera) is a considerable leap up when considering multimedia. 2gb MMC cards clock in at around £150-£200, the N91 has 4gb built in with space for extra MMC memory AS WELL. any other phone you buy you still have to pay the extra wad of cash for your 2gb of memory, and then you're still way behind in the capacity stakes.

I'd have liked to have seen the N90 with more than a 2mp camera and the N70 doesn't appear to be a huge leap from the 6680 baring the more comprehensive 3g capability.

So to summarise i'd say at present the N91 is probably as best you can get for a music/video phone.

I think that this cellfone is really very amazing. This is good for people who thinks a lot all the time. I know someone who thinks a lot whenever he is the office.. kulit nya... Thinker is his name. I will really recommend this to him.. Glends and rustico, this cellfone is for you too.

I still think that all of these NSeries phones are to bulkey, heavy and pricy. It's not as if they are a million miles ahead of other brands. Out of the 3 phones the only difference is 4GB (you can get upto a 2GB memory card) and Carl Zeiss optics (which is only a name). Yes Nokia are a leading brand and do make good phones but after close inspection these NSeries are not all they are cracked up to be. Take my advice and rather than shelling £400+ on one of them either get a cheaper alternative or wait until next year to see what else Nokia, SE, Samsung etc come up with. Lets face it £400+ is too much to spend when the phone could be out of date in 6 months time or so. Hope Nokia will stick doing what they do best and make good quality cellphones.
