There are a number of fake nokias eg N95, N95 8GB, N82, N96 etc. They look exactly the same and comes with the original box. The only way to spot the fake is by the software. and camera quality. Be carefull as people advertise these as originals or for eg: "N95 8GB Slide Style" Fake 8GB usually come with 1gb cards as well as it doesnt have 8GB on board memory

How loud does the N95 play music? My friend has a 6110 Navigator and the music plays really loud. Is the N95 as loud?

The N95 is NO WAY touch screen! Not sure what you have got there...a possible fake?

Also, to the person who says they get only 7 hours on standby....What are you doing? I NEVER got this on my N95. Sometimes I would not have to charge it for 2 days before it got down to 3 bars and that would be by listening to at least 3 hours of music, calls and texts and Internet usage.

I work for a known Mobile Phone retailer and I have realised that a lot of the times when customers claim 'poor battery life', this is due to a number of things.

            1) Check that none of the applications are left running and are closed properly when you have finished using them.
If there is a small blue circle next to an application, this will indicate it is still running and has not been closed properly.
The best way to close it is to go to Options and select EXIT. Repeat this as many times neccessary to get you back to the home screen.

            2) Having Bluetooth, Infrared, etc running also affects how many hours you will get from one charge cycle.

If it is a NEW phone you have just got, be sure to charge for AT LEAST 12 hours before using. Even if it indicates fully charged after an hour or so, still let it charge minimum 12 hours, maximum 24 hours.

Check you have the latest Software. Go to Nokia website for instructions on how to check this and update if neccesary....a SW update does wonders for loads of areas of the fone....

There is no way you would get 7 hours from the battery in Standby mode.....Though this can also depend on how long you have had the fone/battery and how many times it has been charged and if it has been used strenuously which in turn would increas the amount of times it needs to be charged.....
If none of the above work, it is a relatively new fone then I can only assume you have a dodgy battery/fone......change the battery first (if all the above options fail) and take it from there......

a touchscreen n95 is FAKE...Im sorry but if you happen to have a touchscreen n95

              then you dont have these:
1.high quality camera, fake n95's only have vga quality camera....and even so 6600 vga camera beats it still!!!
              2.VGA video resolution at 30fps fake n95s only do 176x144 at 7-10 fps...and it lags like $H17ttt!!!
              3.cant slide down
              4.menu lags alot
              5.cant install themes
              6. you dont have 3g (even though it has a cam on the front) you dont have edge, you dont have wifi, and you only are dual band meaning it will work only on some asian countries...Philippines for example (orignal n95 is quad band...you can use it on the entire globe)
7 very plastiky feel... chinese n95(CECT) have very inferior feel to it...

dont get me wrong fake n95s still ges the job done but it is far from the original n95 in terms of features

I don't think n95 is a touch screen, that may be a china manufactured version, and yes my battery only lasts for 7 hours max even if just on stand by!! WAT THE *#&@!!!

I sold my N95 yesterday for £100...cheap? I loved it and really did not want to let it go. I never had ANY issues with it and had dropped it only once from a heart stopping height of about 4 inches. For all the functions it holds and the quality of the music player, this fone is of it's time. Even though it is nearly 2 years old from when 1st released, I think it still packs a punch.
I done my mate a favour really and I did NOT want to let it go BUT I had to remember:
I had owned it for at least 14 Months and a 'no haggle' £100 dont seem bad when I consider what I paid for it.
I got it free on a NEW 12 Month contract. 6 months into my contract, O2 decided they were going to stop calls to Non Geographical Numbers, i.e 08 numbers, coming out of customers Inclusive Minutes of their contract. Because of this, they knew a lot of customers would be very annoyed about this and to avoid being taken to Court and have a judge POSSIBLY side with the customer, (if the judge did, O2 would have been hurt financially) O2 allowed customers who had made at least 1 call to an 08 number in the month prior to them announcing the change, to cancel their contracts. So as I was an 0856 dialler, I cancelled, got to keep the handset (as did all those other customers who canceled this way). I got a N95 'free' for fulfilling way less than the minimum term!!!! COOL, eh? I ported my number out to T-Mobile PAYG, then took a NEW contract on O2 again for 12 months and got the Sony Ericsson P1i and ported my number back in. That was the only decent fone out at the time. I used it for 2 days, did'nt get on with it and gave it to my nephew. I have never really got on with SE fones but made this one an exception and I carried on with the N95. So anyway, EFFECTIVELY, I got 2 phones 'free' technically out of 1 contract, which aint bad.
So, although I sold my N95 in very good condition, for cheap, I did benefit from the pleasure of using it for many months and it was free. PLUS, my upgrade is due now so I have'nt really lost out, though I was hoping to use the N95 for a little while longer as I am not entirely sure whether to go for an O2 XDA Stellar (HTC Tytn II) or wait for the N96????? HTC Tytn II is known as the Vario 3 for T-Mobile. However, T-Mob have announced a Vario IV though not sure if O2 will stock this or under what model name.
I'm now having to use a BlackBerry 8100 ( i got this one on a very good deal too, lol!!!) ALL LEGIT I might add.
BUT the N95 was always a dream to use. I have always LOVED Nokia fones for their ease of use and their construction and durability. The N95 was a 'Jack of all Trades'. I got it at the time when there were a lot of complaints and moans about it. BUT this is most of the time down to how the person handles their fone, i.e. what they put on their fone and how much of a rough time they give it. PLUS, most of the issues can be easily resolved by a SW update! Yet you get ppl who want to start a lawsuit because 'the goods are not fit for the purpose that they were made for'! Still there are a few moans about this fone today.
Come on, anyone who cant see that this fone is the dogs danglies, needs to go to SpecSavers! The other surrising thing is that if you were to recycle the fone, you would get £100 for it. If you want to recycle the 8800 GOLD, you get £120. I think that says quite a bit, no? To see Recycle prices (UK) goto : http://www.metrorecycles.com/default.aspx
Its interesting what some fones fetch.....if you got a 6230i, you get £25. Not bad.

carloud, 26 Jul 2008hmm I was searching for nokia videos on youtube when I stum... morethe menu transition slows down the phone and eats some more ram. before firmware upgrade, n81 8gb used to have some 46mb of free ram. but after firmware upgrade, it goes down to 38mb only because of that menu/ui transition..

n95 is better than n96. n96 has no 3d graphics accelerator and the processor is going backwards, arm 9!!!

Like the phone very much. Just that the it's got a loose slider but I've fixed it by unscrewing the front part and fixing some pieces of tape below it.

n95 can handle 16gb right now and it is theorized that it could handle 32 gb as well...
