I grabbed my n95 day of release, thrilled to think that one year ago the rumours that were being spread of an n83 had truly been turned into the actual n95.
now i'm having seccond thoughts...was it worth my $1254 aud? yes i know i cbf shopping around.
firstly, gps- so slow.... takes me about 5 minutes to conect to sat. although i've never used another gps system, i am guessing this is not normal. I have heard other people complain of this too, but they say it gets quicker with time.
loading google maps is good, but the onboard mapping system is just as good i think.
i've found google maps requires you to have internet connection to be able to see the actual map(so great if ur in a wifi area. but bad if u don't have cheap gprs connections...) anybody know a workaround?
onboard mapping software allowed me to see where i was without connection to network. although i was driving 15 minutes away, it took 5-8 minutes to connect to sat. to get coordinates and then after another 2 mintues of fumbling buttons to set destination and start trip calculations, i was about 200 m from destination (i had to park because i wanted to see it in action!!!)
so when it was working it seemed fine. but, as other people have found, voice nav. requires $$$$ and it came up with an annoying statement etc asking me to subscribe....imagine i was really lost, there goes my $ subscribing to year of nokia maps...
Actual phone is a bit of a letdown, lags, resets itself randomly (4times in 4 days) keep pressing menu button by accident instead of left or right arrow key....so what i have big thumbs...
camera lags when on 5mp mode. havnt tried any other mode. but its about 2-5 seconds b/w pressing the button to take pic and actually seeing the image on screen of ur final pic...strange. on n95 screen, pics seem a liiiitle grainy...
wifi keeps dropping me out. well, this may be due to my network, and i hope it is for the n95s repuation... but it really shits me. downloading videos off the included reuters links, get dropped out from wireless...
3.5mm headphone jack is great. great sound quality, i personally believe (although i havn't heard it through a good pair of headphones) inbuilt speakers have an amazing ability to project themselves...and also have an amazing ability to split ear drums with high pitched onboard nokia tones...argh!
Battery life is the other m a j o r letdown....with using wifi maybe 5 minutes, gps on my 15 min car ride which turned into 20 cos i stopped to play with gps, about 5 minutes of normal call time and 5minutes of bluetooth call time and about 3 minutes of speaker call time, my battery is wailing for a charge as I type. -i have not got more than one day with propper use of functions without either needing to charge or noticing it was on one bar and thinking it would die tomorrow if i listen to mp3.
Although I knew what it's size was before I got it, i still miss the slim 8250 in my pocket. god i love that phone. =P
So after closely following rumours and exclusive reviews posted all over the net, desperately awaiting the device that is not just one thing, it's many.... i've almost convinced myself its not worth the price. ALMOST.
-happy with reception (as you would expect fomr a high end phone)
-dual slide ability is fantastic
-screen is awesome, colorful, bright biiiig...
-music playback is to me ipod comparable (well i have 3gipod,time for new1)
-inbox equipment is more than generous. nokia included 1gb in the box and shop gave me a free 2gb...so thats sweet. inbox case is pretty protective and stylish...although i have worries about camera safety. ~my zeiss optics!
IS N95 WORTH IT??? DOES IT LIVE UPTO THE HYPE???
well, i'll leave that up to you to decide, i still can't decide.
basically, i think, if you have the means, get it, but if ur jobless like me...don't waste all your money on release date!!! haha -but its damn sexy.

does the voice guidance system stop when a call come during operation and how well this phone function when is under GPS system ? how better is from the nokia n93i ? camera ,does have mp3 and radio fm like the nokia 93i have are those fatures exist on this phone i am asking ?

you know what...you can discharge and chargeback till your battery spoil,the battery life wont change and i try it so many times.The things change only when you just dont use the phone and leave it alone (ha ha ha ha)Nokia and Symbian OS really s**k and nothing going to change that..

Had the phone for a week now. still have not played with all the functions but i am really enjoying it. camera is better than my N93 and so is the flash. I miss the N93 keypad though. for those who are complaining about battery life......charge it fully then use the phone till the battery dies on you....when phone shuts off.....then charge fully again with the phone off. when complete turn phone on and use till you drain battery again and repeat 3 times. I have gotten much better battery life doing this. only problem i have is a memory full close applications message i get when i try to zoom into a pic in gallery

Could someone tell me if the Nokia N95 speaker is lounder then the Nokia N73? or is it the same?

You can't compare the n95 against other operating systems,you could only compare it to different mobiles and as of now the n95 has more features than anything out there(of similar size).I don't own the unit but common sense would tell you that 21mb RAM is an insufficient amount to surf the web,listen to music,play games etc without having to reboot the handset before the handset reboots for you.

to those who own N95 now, please confirm if this phone can run simultaneous applications without problem.. and how many? I understand the limitations of this machine, and nokia claims it as "what a computer has become" but just want to know how does it perform in comparison with WM5 or WM6. I am really intereted to buy this unit, but at least making sure if my decision will be correct. Thanks in advance.

The multimedia computer that can't multitask!I feel short changed and I don't subscribe to the anti or for that matter pro nokia viewpoint.I'm simply stating my own experience of using this phone.

Just bought an N95 today i have to go to the store tomorrow morrning to pick it up. CAN'T WAIT. After i'll get it i will write a review. 15 MORE HOURS UNTIL I GET MY HANDS ON IT!!!

Thank you to (Me) for clearing up the GPS issue however,
With the section where you enter your own address it never finds anything? example:
Number: 1
Street: pitt (I tried just entering street name and street name plus type, drive, street etc.)
City or Postcode: Sydney or I just put 2000 for sydney) I even tried suburb name.
Country: Australia (by default)
I press search and it NEVER finds anything?
Any comments on this?

hi! has any1 in s'pore tried using 3.5g on n95? How's e experience as compared 2 3g? Is it significantly faster? As heard there's 2 speed serving 2 locations rite? 1 is optimum speed of 3.6mbps in CBD area while e other is 1.8mbps islandwide outside CBD area. Is tat true? So, could some1 advise is it viable 2 apply 4 3.5g now (understand n95 is capable of supporting max speed limit)? Tx in advance!

Sharp 903SH Camera still has superior screen resolution and a much better quality camera once the photos are uploaded to a PC their digital camera quality, N95 over-rated. Carl Zeis lense, if he wasn't getting paid for it would he really be putting his product to such crappy use? ? ?
