The Nokia N96 is a great phone, no doubting that. It can give the iPhone a run for its money any day. Some people will prefer the touch screen on the iPhone, but the N96 performs better all round. Only downside is it weighs a bit more, but that's a same price to pay for a superior phone. What's more, the phone isn't tied to one network!

from first day i'm using it, here's my take about the battery:
after initially charging it for 10 hours, the first thing i did was i browsed the menu, configured all the settings, familiarized the ui for about 30 minutes, i took some pictures and shot some vids for around 30 minutes, watched some videos i shot and some preloaded videos for around 20 minutes, , i played some music for about 2 hours (alternately in earphones and speakers), tested gps (not working in my current location), browsed and chatted on wap (gsm mode) for about 1 hour, and the battery is finally empty.
the battery life, considering its not so gracious capacity, isn't bad at all. i was heavy on its features and it lasted me almost a day from initial charge. from what i know, the battery life will increase after some complete charging and discharging cycles. so battery is pretty good with this phone.
here's the rest of my review:
it's fingerprint magnet. very easy to type on its keypad. there's no getting used to as i got easily comfortable with it. design is very nice. it's a little bit wide but it's an eye candy. screen is big and bright. the ui is fast, no lagging problems. but i encountered some problems when my phone froze during web browsing. i had to take the battery off and turn it on again. i haven't used gps yet as i can't make it work. there must be a problem with my location. dvb-h is not supported by my network operator. pics are very good in normal lighting. video is a little blurry. sound quality via 3.5 mm jack is excellent. it's on the same level as n91. this phone is really amazing! it's the best phone i've ever had.

All right, i pretty much have read all the opinions but I couldn't find any thing about the battery life on this thing. I mean on GSMARNEA it only says 3 hours and a change which is next to nothing, I had a 1g nokia N95 and the battery life was killing me so I had to get rid of it, How is the N96 in terms of battery life?

Hi there,
when I got the n96 it was vodafone branded and it droce me nuts, they should not do this as it limits the uses abilty to use the full applications in the handset, I unbranded my n96 and it is so much better way better than vodafones sofware crape.
anyways this is a really good phone I whouldnt give it up.

i'm now using my n96. i've just loaded some 800 songs on it. the sound quality of this phone is awesome. i have my n91 to compare with n96 and i can honestly say n96 is on par with n91 when it comes to sound quality via headphones. this is probably the best music phone so far! i'm more of a music person than a camera person. the quality of pics is very good at least for me. i haven't tested gps yet as i can't get a fix in my current location. dvb-h is not supported by my operator. video playback is very clear. it seems like you're watching dvd on a mini screen. but i've noticed something. i've just installed handy taskman and i checked the free ram and it's 39mb only. is that normal? i haven't encountered any hanging or restarting problems so far. i'll be exploring more of its features later. all i can say for now is that it's really an amazing phone. i don't regret buying it.

Sergio, 18 Nov 2008Hey guys !
I dunno what you talking about i had N95 and up... moreahh..sounds nice, finally a positive comment once in a while, lol!
how do u know the arm9 is better than arm11? isn't 11 higher?
n96's processor is a dual arm9 264mhz
while n95's a dual arm? or single arm11 333mhz was it? i forgot the number, around there..
anyway, hopefully what you're saying is true in terms of how smooth it is when running the system..
yes, true, some little nice features such as, the kick stand, then the dual led..
ahh also the transfer rate is around 6-8mb/sec now via usb cable data..compare to the old n95 8gb that's only friggin' 800kb/sec =( it's killing me, takes ages!
