Alex, 01 Nov 2008DANIEL, you are right!!! Maybe N96 is nothing to write home... moreIf you disable 3G, the TV doesn't work (not that it does anyway without network support), video calls don't work , youtube won't work, the net will be too slow, email will be slow among other things.

All in all a pretty pointless exercise but yes you are right the battery will last longer.

DANIEL, you are right!!! Maybe N96 is nothing to write home about, but it is a good phone and if one knows how to use it all is ok. For instance, I upgraded the software over the air and things DID improve!!! Better and quicker camera, improved battery life (3 days - 3G disabled). PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THEIR PHONE AND HOW TO USE IT, AND THEN TALK...

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2008You want to see bashing, go check out the iPhone or any non... moreIn the n96, n85, n82, n79 forums, there is some dude who is always posting results of benchmark tests of samsung i8510. Whats worse is that he seems to do it every week. Or the dude who is a few posts below who said 'another childish nokia phone'. Thats just plain silly.
Yes, there are those nokia fanboys who go to other forums and simply bash the other manufacturers solution saying things like 'this phone sucks, nokia rocks' or 'what a waste' or 'Worst decision i have ever made-im sticking with my nokia'. That is simply senseless and disrespectful.
I agree that the voting process is really messed up these days and very few phones actually get evaluated properly. Those that gain the most attention like iphone are the rather unlucky due to their controversial nature. The phones which no one seems to notice seem evaluated better.
I guess the 5800xm is showing just how much people want a symbian touchscreen phone. Its quite shocking to see how popular its become (More than 8500 votes in a month). Personally, apart from the lack of a lens cover, i dont see anything wrong with it, at least according to the reviews and videos. It has received its fair share of bashing with statements like 'iphone copy' or 'its a test dummy-wait for the n-series version'. But i have to admit that the bashing there isnt as much as the n96 forum or other phone forums.
Im just encouraging guys to post useful statements. No bashing of any phone or manufacturer.

I don't know what peoples problem is. It is a good phone. It is very loud, clear, good resolution and graphics, great media playing centre, very quick GPS...... - Ok it is not a huge upgrade from the n95i, but who cares, it is still the flagship of the nokia fleet!

hav u seen how innov8 bash her with envy, there like nuts, so desperate to gain attention

the buttom line is, why are they coming here to bash, to seek attention because they envy n96's attention big time

innov8 page is lucky because only owners visit that page and talk about it, nobody seem to care about that page except the owners

n96 is flooded with envious innov8 fanboys who cant accept the fact that their phone failed to get attention and failed to sell more than n96.

                        envy is the very reason

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970n96 is a phone that everyone loves to talk but only few will actually buy. u know why people discuss about n96 here in this page? becos its n96. and not becos it has 5mp camera, nor, 16gb, nor dvb-h. people talk about this phone becos it carries the flagship title of nseries. innov8 doesnt need to be advertised here. look at the innov8 page. there seems to be more innov8 users here in gsmarena than n96 users.

I saw the samsung i900 an the innovo8. There are good phones too. They batery life is better. But the N96 wins on aplications and operating speeds. It`s also smaller and the display quality looks better. If you are not a specialized photographer, you won`t notice the difference between 5 and 8 mpx. N96 Start up faster. the sound quality its better too.

Another thing. The phone also displays all the music contain on the ringtones list. All mixed, but sorted alphabetically. So, here comes again. If you have a lot of music files, and you whant to select a native ringtone, you`ll find yourselves searching again, in an endless list. These comments I`ve maded are minor ussues. Im still recommend the phone.

Anonymous, 31 Oct 2008Yes, the open symbian project is an open source thing, howe... moreamen to that dude!

innov8 fanboys come here to bash and advertise n96 because only a few people care to visit there page

it sounds desperate to me, and innov8 fanboys couldnt believe that n96 gains a lot of attention than innov8 even thou they believe innov8 is superior than n96

so, whats the mystery in all this? that for the samsung fanboys have to find out

sorry for my english. The music player should include an option who allow you to make a play list directly from a folder. otherwise, in the normal way, you`ll have to navigate and select one by one the music files you whant to include on the play list. If you have hundreds of files, it turns booring.
Another uncomfortable issue it´s the fact that the music player displays on the main list, ALL the media files on the memory, include ringotes and videos, even if you stored them on the specifics folders. So if you whant to do a play list, you`re force to navigate all the media content again, in order to exclude those files.

I had one yesterday. USB trasfer speed surprised me. wlan too. The phone feels solid and it look`s good. It`s a little heavy, but the handling experience it`s better than the n95. I miss the native 3d accelerator. The battery lacks feels only on hard multimedia use (video). The two leds flash it`s almost good as on sony`s K series, but the quality perception on the photos it`s better. There is no need to increase the ringtone volumme to the top, You`ll hear it everywhere. Recommended.

The voting system is ridiculously skewed.

e.g. How can people vote on the performance of a phone which hasn't been released (5800)?.
